Re: RPGs similar to Deus Vult?

Yep, I have it! I never got to play it due to the lack of published adventures. One does his best to fill half of the book with scenarios, and then user comment is "not enough published adventures" :D The miniscenario The Hounds of Adranos is for an older version of Stupor Mundi but you should prob...

Re: 14th Century campaign

Yup. As Simon said, it is a good adaptation. You have also shown a damn good example of how fighting styles should be designed. I think your campaign will be a success.

Re: New to Legend but crazy enough to try and run for 20 peo

The sweet spot for this system is 3-5 players, but I have played in several combat-oriented sessions with an average of 6-7 players last summer, and it worked pretty well. The GM had to user poker chits for opponent CAs. He did not even use general HPs for NPCs. So the bottom line is: do it, it will...

If Pete and Loz wishes creative control, then why not get reassigned as freelancers at Mongoose and work on Legend? AFAIK, they were already freelancers for Mongoose when they quit MGP and joined Moon Design. Or for Mongoose to bite the sour apple and accept RQ6 as the system. I doubt this will hap...

I have opened a thread about the license issues on the Design Mechanism forums. Maybe it is more respectful if we do not discuss the details of other companies' policies on the Mongoose Forums. I suppose Pete and Loz will continue to post rules clarifications here, but it could become embarrassing f...

This is a point for Lawstaff to clarify. And, as the license is being rewritten to fit RuneQuest, it is a very good time to do it.

2. Thou shalt not re-publish the HeroQuest rules as they are, nor present slight variations as though they were the HeroQuest rules. Your own rules are not HeroQuest rules, though, so you can include them. This. Done. With written, explicit Moon Design approval. So it can be done. We just put a big...

Newt has already answered in full, but I will stress it once more. What opportunities as a publisher and fan am I missing because I have to use the HQ Gateway license instead of an OGL? The ability to present alternative rules (for e.g. removing hit locations and using general hit points) would be p...

Although this might sound like heresy now, it could probably be the best solution.

It _could_ work. However, I would not recommend doing it. How the game is balanced is slightly different between the two, and you risk breaking something if you increase the chance of a success that "beats" anothter success. Especially in combat.

but what about missle fire...? Missile CMs should be somehow different from melee ones, you are correct. Unfortunately time was a little limited, I suppose Loz and Pete could have devised something more accurate in a longer timeframe. But I am still very happy about how RQII handles melee, and this...

Or send in a horde of goblins with high Resilience (it would be very ineffective to use repeated Choose Location against them), and have THEM use trip and disarm to defeat the adventurers - this will teach them how to fight in RuneQuest II.

No, you can choose location, but before i hit - i.e. aim for a groin - i found most people protect it well - but it was it affected how hard it was to hit not choose location afterwards! I see. There is a point that is not clear to you, here. Leaving all tactical decision except what skill to roll ...

I beg to differ - if some or any players find it a problem then it IS a problem...playtesting smooths rules , it is not an absolute solution to any further problems...or a refutation that in this case, Choose Location is not a problem... Oh. Then D&D has the Big Problem of Armour Class, since I, as...

Again, there is no "Choose Location" problem that needs a solution. The manoeuvers that are too powerful have been singled out during playtest and nerfed (the playtest rules had no crit-only manoeuvers). We were absolutely aware that Choose Location was the most frequently used manoeuver, and it was...

The only times a cavalry charge is going to be just riding in a straight line and making kebab out of the enemy, is when heavy cavalry is engaging light troops that really can't fight back once close combat is joined, such as archers... That would be a charge. Which means you attack one entire CA e...

They do need something official. I've read a lot of Rosen's posts over at BRP Central and he and Deleriad make fine points. Hopefully one of the two get the gig for editing/writing Legend! Interestingly, both of us took part in the playtesting of RQ II. However, I discussed this point with Loz a co...
