Is that the much rumoured "bog off and stop moaning edition" LMAO!
No, it's the "we fixed the intentional mistakes just so we could charge you twice edition!"

The core book says that [Runes] can command very high prices. If I were trying to run a pre-Compainion and pre-Gloranthan book campaign I'd probably go with something like 100GP per spell the rune is used to cast, plus maybe another 25GP per spell the rune aids in casting. THat's just a guess throu...

That didn't look too hard.

A couple of questions:

What is the value(silvers) of those runes?

Can Spirits just "know" spells, or do they have to possess the Runes? I guess you would have to give it a RuneCasting skill too?

He's obviously intended to be your typical weak cowardly bully type. The Broos in Snakepipe Hollow - now, they were something else! Correct. That write-up is from a followup adventure to Apple Lane, so it's not meant to be super-deadly. And yes, there are write-ups for the Broo band (who are suppos...

Character Conversion

Below is an enemy NPC as written from a previous edition of RuneQuest. This NPC is designed to be a major for an band of characters from low to intermediate experience. He leads a small band of Broos, and has the possibility of becoming a recurring opponent. So, how would you convert this to the new...

Well, I'm not looking to do tons of extra work since I'm just looking to play and have fun. It sounds like I can get by with minimal conversion, but I'll probably play around a bit and see how much I'm really inclined to mess with. There are about 50 pages of stats to convert in Griffin Mountain, n...

The companion may well introduce rules for characters starting off as initiates in a cult with access to some limited cult rune, or even divine magic. I'm hoping so. I think we may have to wait for Magic of Glorantha at the end of the year for the application of the MQ rules to Glorantha, as it loo...

RQ2 has Battle Magic and Rune Magic, so you might have to change them or keep the RQ2 spells. If you want Runecasting then you'd need to give each NPC Runecasting skills and Runes. Variable Battle Magic is no more, so give characters with high-pointage spells high Runecasting skills. This is where ...

Re: Ralios PDF suppliment in a nutshell

Nitpik: This Mistress Race troll that repeatedly bears trollkin... Robin Laws replied about this issue in his blog http://robin-d-laws.livejournal.com/161588.html I think this illustrates my earlier comment about npcs with unknown secrets and lack of adventure hooks that tie in with the material. I was re-reading Apple Lane and found this interesting: What is RuneQuest? In RuneQuest, players create adventurers who explore an ancient world rich in magic. Everyone uses spells and anyone can be a warrior, equipped with cold steel and stout armor. The gods provide fantastic powers to their morta...

Re: Ralios PDF suppliment in a nutshell

Here's the big gripe -- almost all of the material is a Dragon Pass knock-off. With very little work, almost everything from 2A Ralios could be popped right in to a 3A campaign in Dragon Pass. Huh? Much of it concerns the EWF and the God Learners, neither of which exist in the third age. There was ...

MQ: Sequel or Remake?

I originally asked this in a different thread, but it got flamed out before I was able to see any responses... A friend was out visiting the other weekend, and we are both movie buffs. At one point, she made a blanket statement that "all movie remakes are worse than the original." We debated this fo...

There are a bunch of immortals in Glorantha, but as a rule, they have to follow some pretty strict social code or they lose their immortality (which usually precludes them interacting with mortals). Stats are given for Ralzakark in Dorastor, Land of Doom, and he tops out around 350% in weapon skills...

Re: Chaos from Dorastor?

I was just reading the Ralios PDF, and noticed the following line: "Incursions from Dorastor, via Karia, infest their hills with Chaos creatures." Isn't it a bit early for that? IIRC, the first broo raids from Dorastor were around 1120 ST. Before that Dorastor was a weird wasteland that was occasio...

Re: Ralios PDF

I'll give it a B+ (knowing the A's achieved by some past true classics). I'm surpised at some of the high marks, especially considering Ralios looks to be a leftover from the forthcoming Second Age book. Out of curiosity, how would you rate some of the past releases? For me: A+ Cults of Prax, RQ2 T...

SInce MRQ raises the starting charces, we probably need to boost up the trollkin skill scores to maintain parity. Now if we double the trollkin skill %, or write them up like starting adventurers, they get a lot tougher, and better reflect what they are supposed to be like. Has anyone (preferably a...

True. Comparing the MRQ Trollkin to MRQ dark Trolls, Aldryami, Mostali etc their approach seems to be to provide the absolute minimum stats for the species, allowing you to use the experience rules to upgrade their skills as you require. Correct. Note that Rainbow Mounds is a beginning scenario. Pe...

Ralios PDF suppliment in a nutshell

Ralios PDF Grade: B- Gloranthaphiles: Must Own Potential 2A GMs: Wait for Second Age book first Players: Skip Note: This is really a generic-system source material release, with no mechanics from RQ/MQ/HQ (not even any stats for unique and deadly encounters). The best way I can describe the Ralios P...

There won't be any Rokari though (maybe towards the end of the age? I don't recall the actual dates) as one of the drivers of Rokarism is to get rid of the changes wrought by the God Learners (hence no caste mobility for instance...) I just stumbled across this in a back issue of TotRM I think -- S...
