Re: Why no career books?

I think having career based books is not as much a problem as it is for making a book for the purpose of fulfilling a series line rather than the actual utility or need in the game itself. For me, the more pressing 'gaps' in the Traveller line are to do with having playable Alien and Robot books, ra...

Re: Traveller Companion

The Traveller Companion seems to have an air of mystery about it still. I'm assuming it's sort of the same as the Xanathar's Guide to Everything for D&D, but could anybody spare the time to give a list of things that are likely to be in the contents?

2300AD - Any News?

I'm actualy really looking forward to this, but we have heard very little about it recently. My understanding is that it will be a a physically attractive, uplifted design in its presentation. Do we know if it will require the Traveller book still, or be standalone? Will there be new material or wil...

Re: How do you generate child characters?

Thanks for the thoughts. Most of them were useful. I'm thinking that the child will get a few bonus skills as part of a skills package, which may give them a bit of utility as the have limted access to education or career. It would also justify why the child managed to man a turret in the last sessi...

How do you generate child characters?

The character generation is one of my favourite things about Traveller. However, we've been playing through a Pirates campaign for several months and the current player characters have hired on some extra help in an expansion of their crew. Initially we just had them as PCs, and one of them was basi...

Mine had a hardcover, but it may depend on printing. You know that a new edition is imminent, yes?

Re: The Great Rift

And are you happy with it? I put it right up there as one of the best Traveller supplements in my collection. Yes I am. If I wasn't in the middle of a Pirates of Drinax campaign, I'd be right into it. It's the perfect setting to get into real science and exploration - and a great sandbox too. I als...

Re: Upcoming Traveller releases

I'll stress that I'm just a fan and, therefore, I don't *know*, but from the bits I've gathered: - Beyond the Claw will be a new sector sourcebook for the Spinward Marches, made in hardback for the Traveller 2nd edition line. - The Shadow of Sindal will be a final optional add-on adventure to augmen...

Re: 2300AD 2.0 release dates

I'm fairly certain that we are going to see a significant facelift in the presentation of this line, and that takes time to get right. For me, any earlier than the timetable they've lined up would have alarm bells ringing. Jan '19 looks about right to me, after the Traveller line is well established...

Re: Is DNA universal

Mushrooms are a fungi, and have a particular cellular design to categorise it as such. Viruses, also, generally have an RNA strip that integrates with a hosts DNA and other species don't have full blown DNA either. It really isn't beyond the boundaries of science fiction that different planets have ...

Re: Hivers

The problem as I see it is that there is a desire to do fully developed 'splat' books for each of the major races. It's what has happened before, and these take time developing. For most groups, however, all they really need is a decent write up for the race and then just use the normal character ge...

Re: Introduction and a question. Traveller crunchy?

The basic system is as simple as it gets. The ship design and various random generation charts add complexity. It's as crunchy as D&D in it's own way.

What scale was Starship Troopers? Or Judge Dredd for that matter? Probably gives a bit of a hint anyway.

My players decided to completely skip the trip to Clarke and headed straight for Torpal. They assumed (incorrectly) that it was a trap.
