Re: Robots

I think the key question for me is: will players be able to play robots, or artificial intelligences with good support from the game?

Re: Traveller Plans for 2017

The thing I would also say here is that there really is no rush. The core of the game, along with High Guard, Vehicles and the CSC covers the core of the game well as it is. The optional stuff is good to expand but, for me, if we end up waiting to early next year it won't be any disaster at all. So ...

Re: Traveller Plans for 2017

Some things that I like to see in the Companion: - Robot characters - like Droids in Star Wars, or just A.I.s in starships. - More Alien characters - the ones that didn't get into the core (Droyne, Hivers, etc). - A comprehensive line Index covering _all_ core books. - Genetics - legacy characters -...

Re: RPG Suite

I'm just a customer, but the downloading process essentially just amounts to clicking on download buttons and waiting. Once loaded, characters automatically transfer to the character sheet and are held in a memory bank online and on your machine. The last line is a good thing to suggest, and hopeful...

...I think I'll leave Matthew to answer that one then...

Another question about Traveller though - any word from the RPGSuite as to whether they will update the Traveller software to include Starship and Vehicle design?

Re: State of the Mongoose 2016

Without being too contentious, I think that much of Legend's fanbase has gravitated over with The Design Mechanism's Mythras - previously called RuneQuest 6, based on Mongoose's RuneQuest 2, not to be associated to Chaosium's RuneQuest 2 and written by the same people who wrote Legend which is still...

Re: State of the Mongoose 2016

A good read. :) The Traveller and Paranoia lines look to have some exciting progress in the next year, which I will be buying into to one degree or another. It was a shame that the 2000AD license was lost, although the explanation regarding miniature games was clear enough. Does that also mean that ...

Re: "Starter" box set, whats in it?

How big will the box be? Will it be LBB size or A4 size? Will it be packed with books n stuff, or will there be airspace to store other books (like adventure modules) in it?

Re: Mongoose News - High Guard is Here!

Hi Matt,

Are people waiting on pre-orders on the physical copy able to get a link for the PDF?

Also, with High Guard being released, is this going to expand into the RPGSuite digital tools in the future?

Thanks!

Well, it's not as bad as waiting up most of the night in NZ for the playtest documents to come out.....:)

I've just placed my pre-order. I always forget to ask but if I order a hardcopy, can I get a pdf copy sent to me also?

Re: Experiences with Drinax

I've been holding back on the Drinax campaign, in order to get the right group of players as well as waiting to get the new edition stuff sorted. I tend to run one big campaign each year these days. I did Secrets of the Ancients last year, but this year so far I've just done a few one offs and short...

A Traveller Miniatures Game?!!

Yes, please! :D

Am I right to see that listed in upcoming releases, or did I just dream that?

Will it be based on ground combat or spacecraft?

Is there any option of buying a subscription to buying upcoming Traveller releases?

Tis all I want to know.....

Re: What happened to the Traveller Companion?

Well, it wasn't part of the play tested supplements so it'll probably turn up on the schedule once those that were are released. Not sure about Prime Directive, but there is an upcoming Traveller version of the transhumanist setting, Mindjammer in the next couple of months or so.

Re: New Paizo SF RPG: Competitor with Traveller?

Start your own Realistic Traveller blog (or BBS forum). Build it and see if they come. I think Traveller's biggest failing (as a rules set) is that it doesn't cover modern tech very well, and its OTU setting assumptions are rather baked in to the rules and require some effort to excise from them. A...

Re: New Paizo SF RPG: Competitor with Traveller?

Traveller has always had lots of competition but, aside from Star Wars, some of the cyberpunk games and occasionally Star Trek when it's on release, they don't really eat much into Traveller's fanbase. In the case of Paizo's Starfinder, let me ask is there really much more to it that Pathfinder in S...

Re: Why is a hard copy of The Little RED Book so much?

Point of note about Amazon prices - they tend to set them themselves based on availability. I actually have the Little Red Book, and could therefore put it on Amazon. However, it wouldn't be worth it as I couldn't set the price myself any lower than lowest price, while it's unlikely to ever sell at ...
