I used to play 40K and other games but I quit because of annoyance about powergaming (it got to the point that the people who could buy the most expensive models from the newest army won).

So far B5 ACTA hasn't fallen into that trap.

The new Eyehawk from S&P might be patrol...not sure, but it would be a decent choice of a set of bad options.
I have actually found it invaluable to reroll the solar cannon hits that you manage to line up.

Like its big Solar brother it is going to die very quickly though.

Against Minbari, the Apollo would probably go. What do I get for it? 2 more Chronos? Another Marathon? It seems to me that the Crusade fleet seems kinda weak for what you get. The Chronos looks way to flimsy to be a Raid level ship. Again try Assault Hyperions (skirmish level), Chronos are distinct...

The average roll on a hermes carrying flash missiles (assuming you hit with every missile) is 7 (two dice rolling damage) then doubled to 14. The fact that you did so much damage tells me you rolled high. You have not included precise in your calculations average is 9 doubled 18 WITHOUT the chance ...

Hmmm I can't really argue with what you have said except to say you can have a fair balanced game with the base set (I did a number of times) and that most of the stuff in SFOS is not used a great deal except for the fleet lists which are available on the ship viewers mentioned above. Please stick w...

Oh joy Quad Damage. Now ships blow up even faster. That's a huge mistake. EP, I guess I am a little bit Skeptical regarding the "fixes" that are being made for 2nd Edition. I heard the same thing about armageddon about 1 year ago. The line "Don't worry it will all be fixed in Armageddon" has now be...

They have single damage boresight beams. Their secondary weapons are also boresight, so they tend not to get a large number of shots. Yes, they have 2 turns on their ships, but the ships tend to move too fast to take advantage of that when the battle gets up close Sure they have an 8ad fighter that...

Other than Hull 6 skirmish level ships and the +1/+2 initiative can you explain your feelings on what the advantages are to the Drazi? In many cases they are too fast for their own good. Having to move 6" before they can turn and line up a borsight is not really an advantate. They have 2/45's which...

Speaking as someone who worked in the newspaper industry, the struggle for speed and accuracy usually has one or two casualties. Typos can be missed even if twleve people spend a year looking at the same text. I could live with a few mispelled words in order to get the book faster. Could Mongoose u...

As to the Hermes/Missiles thing. Would it be worth making the EA pay PLs to upgrade their missile loads, much in the same way a Centauri has to pay to upgrade to Rutarians. For example, 1 Patrol point would allow you to upgrade up to 4 four missile racks within the fleet with variant missiles. That...

It is so good that you should just type it at the bottom of every one of your posts!

I am trying to remember the one with Ivanova, Sheridan and the news reporter involving an air lock but it keeps escaping me.

The Warlock as it stands is an ARMAGEDDON CHOICE. It is going back down to War level but not with its Armageddon stat line! It may be a tad weak for an Armegddon choice but if they simply dropped it a PL without changing anything it would be broken beyond belief! Yes it would! However as we are tal...

Are Drazi a comedy race in ACTA?

In the b5 series the Drazi were a bit of a joke (green/purple, Kosh/droshalla blessing - poke the plant, Ivanova, armpit pouch *gland* in call to arms etc) Do you think this trend is continued in ACTA? I like the mad-dog image but I cannot quite feel that they are supposed to be played as anything o...

The Drazi do seem a bit undergunned, considering they have the most territory of any of the league races. I can see why init sinks would help them. Drazi are good (really) but they have two big vulnerabilities one is their fire arc which is pretty much boresight and maybe a forward which makes them...

however if rumour be true, the Corumi (however it's spelt) is being released Corumai I think and yes but I am concerned as the Corumai was a notoriusly poor ship (power system problems?) and I may end up with another large green hat stand. However Mongoose may decide that the brakiri have learnt to...

A simple shift to make the rules so that players with more ships have to move them first when they lose initiative would be better. Say if you have double the number of ships as your opponent, then you move two for every one he moves. Of course, the Minbari would love that. Arrrrggggh. My Drazi, My...

I have to say in terms of breakeability, I has a Takata wipe out 4 Hermes over a few rounds, with no damage in return. An interceptor race has little problem against them, unless they take multiwarhead, but then the damage drops anyway! Hiffano, I like my Takata's as much as the next man but surely...
