Re: [Software] Sector - a Traveller map generator

There's a new update in review that adds a map legend so you can see what the colour coding means. Should be available in a day or two.

Re: [Software] Sector - a Traveller map generator

I'm just submitting another minor update that fixes a silly bug, but also adds the ability to share your sector with others. This means that all the players in a group can have exactly the same sector, and therefore their own personal copy of the map. That should be a handy feature. Note that this i...

Re: [Software] Sector - a Traveller map generator

Hmm - no plans for other platforms just yet. Never say never though, but at the moment it's iOS only.

Re: [Software] Sector - a Traveller map generator

Support for official star maps is a possibility. This app was based on something I built years ago, and that app could import the standard format sector files. In principle I could add the same thing to this app too. I'll add it to the backlog, although I can't make any promises at the moment.

[Software] Sector - a Traveller map generator

I thought some of you might be interested in a new app I've made for iPhone & iPad: Sector http://blotcdn.com/83d73fa4f1/image-cache/1493376219110/sector-iphone.png http://blotcdn.com/83d73fa4f1/image-cache/1493376219199/sector-ipad.png It's just a simple app at the moment that's based on the Travel...

Re: If you could change the Vargr, how would you?

How about this for an alternative take on the Traveller universe: Life is fairly common in the universe. Intelligent life is extraordinarily rare. So rare, in fact, that it has only ever evolved once in known space - the Droyne. All other intelligent life, all the major and minor races in known spac...

Re: If you could change the Vargr, how would you?

I would like the idea that the Ancients uplifted apes to create Humans, and uplifted wolves to create Vargr. I know this isn't canon, but it kind of explains why the Vargr and nothing else. You could even push it and say the Aslan were uplifted from Earth felines - that would upset a few people no d...

Re: 2300AD: Tools For Frontier Living. The Art.

And the greater irony is that - for once in a Mongoose Traveller product - the deck plans are actually quite good, and nicely drawn ! Certainly a league ahead of some of the dross that's appeared in previous products.

Re: 2300AD: Tools For Frontier Living. The Art.

Glad to know it's not just me then. This book should be held up as an example of how great artwork can enhance a product (first few chapters), and how bad artwork can actively detract from it (the rest of the book). And, no, I don't think budget really is a good excuse. Take a look at a game like Ho...

2300AD: Tools For Frontier Living. The Art.

So I bought Tools for Frontier Living as soon as I saw it was available in PDF. The first thing that jumped out at me was the artwork: the first few chapters have images of colony sites rendered as if they were satellite reconnaissance photos. It's very well done, incredibly evocative and informativ...

Re: Vehicle Handbook - Now Shipping!

I'm curious about the 'Ground Effect Bike" on pg. 62 - there doesn't seem to be any supporting information or rules to explain what this is, or how to build one. It's only 1/10 the price of the G/Bike on pg. 60 (although there's 4TL difference). 'Ground effect' to me implies that this vehicle has li...

Thanks for the preview, it looks nice.

Would I be correct in thinking that this build system is similar to the one in Robots ?

Re: 2300AD Core Book Preview

I think the Kafers on the cover of Kafer Dawn were drawn in a style that didn't match any other illustration of them. The Kafer sourcebook has then with more insect-like mandibles, and no pointy noses - much more like they are described in the text. My 0.2p worth though - I've never liked the Kafers...

Re: New Movie Trailer

I have the Colonial Marines Technical Manual, and there's a section in there about how the hyperdrive works on the Sulaco. I don't recall the exact details - it's basically the sort of mumbo jumbo you'd expect ;-) I do recall the fusion reactor uses lithium as fuel though, I think because it's easie...

I have always loved the Fiery - I think it's the best ship design in the whole of Traveller - and this is a lovely rendition of it. Looks like it was done in Sketchup ?

Re: 2300AD Core Book Preview

I was really confused by the tables on page 4 of the PDF (plus - where are the page numbers ?) - it reads like 2 columns, but really it's 2 section (top, 2 columns, and then bottom, 2 columns). The layout could be better - a horizontal rule would really help, or better spacing. [edit: Ah - found the...

Re: New to Traveller - Where to start

You could try using one of the Classic Traveller adventure modules - they should be largely compatible with the Mongoose system. Also, Challenge magazine sometimes had short adventures in it - try looking through the back issues here . Both of these are available cheaply. Same goes for the issues of...
