There is a new game from Fantasy Flight (board game) which seems to be a lot of fun (there is much positive feedback so far for Dungeon Quest)...and there is a 15% survival rate. So a 'dungeon' scenario would be deadly? Good! I always enjoyed D&D in the old days up to level 5 or 6. I always enjoyed ...

Look to another game for inspiration, Earthdawn. Add RQII to the setting and I have a feeling the sum would be much better than the parts, neither of which are bad, not at all...Earthdawn is a good way to mix the city adventure with the dungeon, from what I hear. Or Wraith Recon. What if the world g...

wraith recon and runequest
You once said 4e was a better fit for this and that RQII didn't have powerful enough magic to fit the setting. Now you are announcing an upcoming wraith recon rpg using RQII. So why did you change your minds, what was the process and/or reasoning for doing so, and just what is being done to overcome...

At least two people here disagree, and I think the rules could be clearer in numerous other places as well. Problems also exist (esp.) in magic and skills. I still have to wonder how people new to the system are handling it. Whatever. It's no skin off my nose. 8) One other thing. Three out of four o...

I asked the same sort of thing a while back. The thread title is 'weapon style flexibility', last post was in July, I think. The consensus seemed to be 'make up your own weapon categories if you must'....as if I don't already have old house rules I am happy with. Anyway there is some discussion ther...

Elric of Melnibone contents?
Could the author(s) post some idea of what all is in this upcoming book? If not an actual preview, then just a general outline of the contents would do. Especially, how much rules related content will there be, things like the demon summoning and other magic rules as compared to the RQ1 rulebooks, b...

Surprised to see this post still active. I am thinking about Openquest as a base system for similar reasons . It seems more and more reasonable to have only three skills, actually, Close Combat, Missile and Unarmed. As you say, it seems to encourage tactical thinking instead of always using what the...

I was just offering another option, trippy. Didn't say anything was bad. Don't try to put words in my mouth. For the record, I don't think RQII is the best. The combat system looks great, but is a little too detailed for me. Which is strange for a system that is supposed to be simple and fast...

There is another really good option, Openquest, if you are not familiar with it. It is a simpler but similar game system. I am using it and cherry picking rules from MRQ, MRQII, BRP and Classic Fantasy and using Openquest as the base framework. Have a look if you haven't seen it. It's a good option ...

Um, you mean 'Hawkmoon'? I am wondering if I should pick up books like 'Magic of the Young Kingdoms', and it's hard to tell at this time how much duplication there will be, or if the material I am interested in will be even be included. The 256 page count looks good, but I would like to find out how...

Eternal Champion books' contents
I see that Elric for RQII is due for this summer. I was wondering if someone in the know could enlighten as to what all will be included in the main book (esp. how much of the material from 'Magic of the Young Kingdoms') and if Hawkmoon will also definitely be republished in the near future, and how...

Whatever. Some of us think MRQ would be about perfect for Conan. Including me, and I have run a LOT of swords and sorcery, as apparently has Deleriad. He knows what he is talking about. I would not touch SW or fudge for s&s, if I were running. I might play a SW s&s game, at least once. However, I do...

True enough. I guess one risk you run with a game like RQ, with it's history, is that some of us will choose to stay with a similar, previous system due to comfort levels...not to mention years of use. Old Stormbringer just makes more sense, and has a crazy vibe to it that I have not seen duplicated...
