Yeah and how come ships can teleport through space and people have psychic powers too? How does that work? Don't know. I know a person who works for the FBI & DHS as a psychic and SHE doesn't know how it works. Go figure. Anyone claiming to predict, influence or use that happenstance through some s...

Yeah, it is since you seem to think ubiquitous means every joe shmo has one.

The words "common on high tech worlds" does not appear.

But as usual you ignore the post, pick the parts you want, and add nothing.

UBIQUITOUS : existing or being everywhere at the same time commonplace, everyday, common, Umm, it's just a 'bigger' word for common . So, you did find the reference for them being common. No, YOU stated in a previous post that they were common on high tech worlds, I have found no such thing in the ...

If we are doing chargen as a group then we hang out and pass the books around. If we aren't doing it as a group, my players come at the beginning of the campaign with their characters already done. I just check them over to make sure there are no errors before the game begins. I never control charge...

You could, because another silly number in the rules would make it pos- sible: According to the Central Supply Catalogue, page 182, you would only have to pay 400 credits per month for your living costs at an ave- rage standard of living (SOC 7). :) wow, lololol... 2 or 3k per month income, cost of...

I haven't found any reference in the rules about the air/raft being common on high tech worlds. It says they are ubiquitous, remarkably reliable and flexible vehicles. The stat line says that they start at TL8. I take that to mean that they are indeed ubiquitous as they floaty car for people who hav...

Only if you are saying Ubiquitous to mean every common man has one. I mean as in the way Trav positions them. On high tech worlds it being a COMMON civilian transportation item. Their pricing doesn't match the 'hype'... And good sir, you have just hit the nail on the head with trying to price anyth...

Absolutely agree. My point was that the "Floater" because of pricing, is the ONLY Grav vehicle that allows Grav vehicles to be "Ubiquitous". The other pricing means that they are as rare as a $300k Ferrari on the streets of Backwater, Kansas. Only if you are saying Ubiquitous to mean every common m...

I purchased 'The Savage North', based on the impression that I was given by several high profile posters on this very forum who implied that it was 'Conan with the numbers filed off'. I can assure everyone that, while it is quite a nice piece of work(apart from the awful humour), it most certainly ...

Re: Loving latest edition - but have some questions

The laws of physics completely and totally disagree with you. Much like a bullet, an arrow or bolt does not have the mass to move a body. That is the pure and simple truth. -V You misunderstand me. I have had university physics, so I know that an arrow cannot move a ~100 kg object 1 metre back. Wha...

Re: Loving latest edition - but have some questions

That said it doesn't seem that stupid. A bolt from a crossbow or longbow does hit with a lot of force - so being pushed back a metre, doesn't seem that far fetched to me. - Dan The laws of physics completely and totally disagree with you. Much like a bullet, an arrow or bolt does not have the mass ...

I would have allowed it but I would have limited it to movement like a Levitate spell. i.e. your PC would only have been able to traverse straight up with no lateral propulsion supplied, so if your volcano is angled or hill shape he would have wound up parallel to the rim but far far away. I would h...

Re: bad witch....

Fear can in many cases control NPCs better than love. Not really. People have a strange tendency to kill what they fear, but only rarely what they love. Wrong, most people are sheep and will follow what they fear. After all, who wants to be the first person to die trying to prove their point. Just ...

I'd prefer the classifications not to go along the lines of D&D , ta. :) no "fighter class." Everyone ought to be a fighter in Traveller . Agreed. But my point is all RPG parties are largely structured in the same way. D&D is written into the genetic code of most games ... and Traveller is really n...

Re: [Starport/Downport] Size of port

Does a certain class of port (down or space) have to be of a certain size (volume/tonnage) or is just the services able to be rendered the important determining feature? Services rendered and technology level would determine the type of starport. Though, for cost practicality, volume of traffic wou...

Re: [Starport/Downport] Armed & Armored or ?

Should a port be armed, armored and/or have ships protecting it? Yes. basic armor and point defense lasers at least for space junk. A small systems boat or two outfitted as patrol boats w/ weapons. Does the class of the port require that it be ready for battle? No, that would be only if a naval bas...

I had a player desperate to be a gun sniper, but who kept not rolling Gun Combat; ended up with level one. Picked up 2 levels in it from connections and one from the skill package and was happy with that. This is why in our games the players can pick their skills and not roll them. I understand hav...
