Re: Hip, Hip, Horay!!!!!!!

Hmmm, I wonder why Driving is considered a basic skill for all, but Riding isn't there? Nah, it's there mate, I think you just fumbled your Perception check. Looks like they've got the basics covered with Boating, Driving and Riding. D'oh, could have sworn it wasn't there when I looked earli...

I admit, I like the group in miniatures, shows how they are moving and who is where, but thats about it, I don't wargame RQ (I could if the rules for a skirmish wargame were around) I use it as shorthand for who is where and doing what.

The AP's on the weapon charts match so you are most likely right about the number being the amount blocked on a successful parry. It seems kind of clunky and unnecessary, but I should be able to get used to it. Shields are going to be popular, I think. And dodging, if it works that way. Overall the...

Re: 5th preview is up

Experience Levels Creatures Dragon and Duck Stats. :D I would appreciate if someone could explain to me how weapon AP vs Armor AP works. I do not remember if this is from old Runequest or if it is from the new version. Thanks These are from the monsters part of the main rulebook I hope, for a Glora...

You don't find it odd that the people who commissioned it haven't said what it is? Not at all. Mongoose is hella busy these days, especially with the summer gaming con season upon us. I doubt anyone's noticed the question here on the forum, much less looked into tracking down the person that origin...

Wow, once again I am stunned by the importance so many are putting into a simple bit of artwork. Reagrdless of whether it's supposed to be a troll or not, it's just one artist's impression of what the creature -- whetever it is -- looks like. Lord knows we've seen significant changes in how things ...

I could see it being someone's interpretation of a troll too, though it's a bit more piglike than the traditional troll pictures. (Are tuskriders that big? I thought they split the difference between a troll and a human in size.) I thought it might have been a troll as well because of the size. It ...

What is the monster on the cover? Its the same one as is on the cover of the Glorantha book, it has large ears and what looks like a small trunk nose....

My take is that the two eras are separate enough that there shouldn't be a conflict. All most of us know about the 2nd Age is some basic time lines. It should be pretty easy to stay within that and still have lots of room for development. There's 800 years time in there. Think about our world in 12...

Re: On the Gloranthan nonhumans

The saving grace with the gloranthan nonhumans is that they are only half alien. They still share the connection to the man rune (should be humanoid or people rune, I guess). Their motivations are different (sex, food and war may hold very different meanings, for instance), but they still feel emot...

I am holding judgement on the Hero Points thing until I see how your earn them, I can see potential there, but it rests on how its handled.

I noted the Str and Con thing, but put this down to an early draft, and Mongoose have occasional issues with proof reading.... Don't you Old Bear?

Re: 4th preview is up

I am a little puzzled by the illustration on the first page -- "Lay Member of the Cult of the Storm King" My Second Age is rusty, but I am curious if this is a generic application of the cult (boo), or a more accurate depiction of some localized Second Age Orlanthi... I think its a sign of the gene...

Re: 4th preview is up

They have left fatigue in, oh dear, I hate fatigue systems, I find them clunky cumbersome and a pain in the backside. If they have retained the fatigue from RQ3 and the missile hit locations as well as combat ones I shall be sadly disappointed. I _like_ the new fatigue system. It looks easy and fun...

Re: 4th preview is up

It looks like the abilities you can get for your character are sort of like feats that you buy with experience. Each ability has a hero point cost as well as prerequisites, hero points might be sort of like xp. Not quite, I think. The examples at the last page seem to have been rare abilities for h...

When I write tolkien elves, and that I would like to see such in RQ, I do not mean it in the strictest sense of the word either. If they look like "normal" elves, they can be as much plants as they want to be, and their culture can be as different as possible. It is the look I have to sell to my pl...

And now I wrote a much longer post than I had intended. I never intended this thread to explode in such a fashion as it has done. Purhaps you need some different players... If you want, I could send the Runners round... The biggest shock people get from RQ elves apart from the fact they can be the enemy (unusual in a RPG, except for the racism that encompasses drow) is the poisen wielding, ambush based sneak attacks, for anyo...

I guess they may have Gloranthan elves in the Gloranthan books and your vanilla elves in the core book or core creatures book? That would be acceptable. I could then show the players the "vanilla" elves only. Purhaps you need some different players... If you want, I could send the Runners round... ...
