For my part, I'm rather disapointed that JMS won't be involved in those novels, making them non-canonical. Hear this excerpt from jmsnews.com : ... I have, subsequently, washed my hands of the Mongoose books. I haven't seen anything, don't know what they're doing, so sure as hell it ain't canonical....

Here's the comment from JMS on that sad news : From: jmsatb5@aol.com Subject: Andreas Katsulas is gone To: rec.arts.sf.tv.babylon5.moderated Date: 2/15/2006 6:52:01 AM Just over a year ago, Andreas Katsulas -- who loved smoking with a passion that cannot be described -- was diagnosed with lung cance...

Well put ShadowScout! I replied without having seen your post, and found you address the issue more adequately... Frankly, if the GM; is flexible enough, he can ditch "balance" easily, even in point-driven systems. I saw campaigns work where the PC's had different point values all over the board - a...

Thanks Paddy for the comments. I can sense you're not a fan of GURPS... Points construction systems for characters rarely work because they are so heavily focussed on "balance". Mmmm, I always thought it was the other way around. Class systems usually gives "upgrades" to characters at pre-determined...

Thoughts on telepaths
I just came along that quote from the GURPS FAQ : Doesn't it makes role-playing any psi prohibitive point-wise if one were to run, say, a Babylon 5 campaign? Because they're far more powerful than everyone else in *game* terms, even if they don't dominate the show in *dramatic* terms. Unfortunately ...

Hi Hoog, I ran that scenario a few months back in the same context (i.e. we were all newbies). We had the same comments overall and we all found it a little unsettling albeit exhilarating. It was a liberating experience as we could let go of all the usual conventions of RPGs and were even forced to ...

Re: Just a formal constatation and a question
Even under poetic liberty, hate and bigotry are not pretty. The King wrote:...today's France.

of their face.
Just kill them all with pleasure.
But hey, it's your free speech, so go ahead, it's just a game anyway.
As long as it makes you feel better...

Yeah, all in all a great offering and easy to follow up with "Trouble in Tanoren"* and "Blood Moon Rising", as they all take place in the same region (more or less). With those three, you could entertain your band of players for many sessions. I like the players handouts (wish they could be put on t...

However, in comparison with the other basic classes, I think it brings some disbalance in the game. Yes, but in this case disbalance is a good thing as it fits with what was shown in the serie and the novels. Just as the Telepaths and the Ancients; they must be fearsome to have any impact. It would...

While I think this will be a cool product I'll probably pass on it for awhile because it would of limited use in my current campaign. I'm in the same boat here. I prefered buying Crusade instead, which I find far more interesting in terms of contents. That being said, I will be buying Free Mars eve...

I concur with Xex, I was surprised how low level the Council of 12 were. As for editing problems, well it's unfortunately nothing new and I hope we'll see the missing parts as a download, as well as the players handouts. But overall a solid adventure that I will GM for the RPG club that I manage at ...
