Re: News on A Call to Arms: Star Fleet!
Ah, those forums look a lot nicer at least :) Although from your phrasing Jean does that mean that us forumites are little considered when it comes to the game dev side of things? One of the main ways I've ended up playing SF has been through Mongoose organised events. If those events stop now that ...

Re: News on A Call to Arms: Star Fleet!
Urgh. I drop off the forum for a month or so, and everything changes. If I am to understand it correctly, the effective change is that ADB has taken over the project and reduced Mongoose to just designing the ship models. Furthermore, mini manufacture is heading back over stateside. I suppose this w...

Re: Balance Changes
The removal of Accurate doesn't make much sense to me though. How would it affect things if we gave plasma the same "hard to hit" (-1 to be hit) rule as shuttles? This would mathematically give the same effect for ph-2 and ph-3, and reduce the ph-1 to effectively only being Accurate +1.

Re: Shield crits
I'm fairly certain that it was ruled that the shield boosting is based on max shields after crits.

Re: Shield crits
That would be correct: Boosted shields allows your current shields to be higher than your max shields until the end of the turn. When you take a shield crit and this leaves your current shields higher than your max shields: - If boosted shields is in effect, drop your current shield score to equal y...

Re: Maximum Warp Now! and Tractor Beams
I understand that there's also a RAW argument of moved vs removed. Basically, the warping ship is removed from the table rather than being moved*, so the argument goes that a tractor beam technically has no effect. Personally though, I prefer the additional attempt to break tractor :) *Fluff-wise, w...

Re: Would you buy prepainted minis on ebay
If anything, I've started to worry more about them being built rather than painted, but then I've been stung a couple of times with badly constructed plastics. Metal is easier to unglue as a rule

Re: Star fleets finest 1250pts list
Well, we played Towering Inferno twice tonight, so the only time a full fleet was on the table it was picking on a mere 2 ships from the opposing fleet. Maybe next time we'll try one of the other missions. Oh, and regarding the New Jersey: It was errata'd to be 240pts rather than 215pts, and then dr...

Can I just confirm that escorts are not allowed?
(I'm actually considering Gorn this time around, so one of the Escorts would actually be expensive enough to bring along

Re: Fleet Update #2 - Ready for Free Download
Oh, jeez, you went and made drones more complicated anyway, despite the multiple requests not to. Ugh. The complication is minor and is in the set up/fleet building, not actual play (drones can have different stats, but it pretty much ends there). In practice, I expect variant drones to be relative...

"Soon"
I'm going to guess that we're just waiting for ADB to give final clearances or somesuch. I certainly can't wait to get my hands on the DNL rules though!

Re: Checking rules for Plasma Bolt
My understanding is that Energy Bleed applies to the new range of the weapon. As such, half range for a plasa bolt would indeed be 5". If these isn't the intent behind the rules, I'd certainly welcome an errata to make the bolt more of an option

Re: Four New Ships for A Call to Arms: Star Fleet
And my Star Tiger (along with Mars and Gettysburg) have arrived! Looking at the Star Tiger, I'm happy to say that the saucer/hull connection has been improved to the point that the saucer will quite happily sit there even without glue! The details are crisp (as is usually the case before the moulds ...

Sounds exciting! I might have to arrange a megabattle at some point just to have an excuse to use all my fast fleet together (1 Star Tiger (when it arrives), 3 Wolverines and 1 Manta Ray)

Are you able to give us any quick overview on how it differs from a standard Dreadnought? (Usual disclaimers about stats possibly changing in the final release apply, etcBen2 wrote:I played the Star Tiger at Mongoose towers, and found it to be a very nice piece of kit.
