Re: [ACTASF] Core Rulebook Scenarios
I can remember two being raised, but neither will apply to 1.2 as it stands due to certain rule changes/clarifications. 1) Gravity Well, due to some thinking all ship movement was random (compulsory movement wording). Same with any scenario using Black Holes or Nebulae as terrain features. 2) Recon ...

Re: [ACTA:SF] Discussion: taming the Klingons
Photons are near useless in FC over range 8, Disruptors should have a longer effective range.

Re: News on A Call to Arms: Star Fleet!
I'd guess you'd only need one marker for all the AD one ship fires on a turn, and just place a die or chit next to it to show how many AD it represents. Unless it's an evil plan to sell us buckets of those drone and plasma miniatures ADB sells

Re: News on A Call to Arms: Star Fleet!
Steve Cole posted this over on the ADB site as a potential idea for handling drones. http://www.starfleetgames.com/discus/messages/32783/32795.html?1384545058 Basically working like (suicide) fighter stands in previous versions of ACTA, I'd guess you'd need to give them a separate movement step like...

Re: Acta:SF Drone Question seeking ignore shields yes or no
Maximum Warp Now! :- The ship doesn't warp off the table until the End Phase , although you declare it in the Movement Phase as normal. Suicide Shuttles :- They can move in the same Movement Phase they launch (remember shuttles move after all ships have), and be detonated if they are touching an en...

Re: High Energy Turn
Slightly different depending on how you use the HET: If you're taking the extra turn option, you'd announce the amount at the point of turning and roll accordingly. If you failed, you wouldn't make the turn and take damage as per the rules. If you're increasing the rate of one of your turns, you'd a...

Re: Flight stands
I seem to be one of the few people who actually likes Mongoose's ball and socket flight stands. Since they're no longer on sale from Mongoose, does anyone have some they could sell me? Preferably in the UK so that trans-Atlantic shipping is not involved. :) Failing that, what stands are now supplie...

I've got a spare NCC 1701 set you can have, just PM me your address (bought the Mongoose sheet as back-up 'cos I damaged the Tenneshington F-DN saucer registry. Twice
). Postage from the US for a single ship would be a bit much I bet.

Re: Is ACTA SF a good analog for SFB or FC?
I don't see many photon volley kills either (last game a BCJ - playtest version with Shock - did manage to hit a D7 with all six, four penetrating and taking it's impulse engines to Critical Score 6 which was enough to finish it off). We do usually get a few penetrating torpedoes most games though. ...

Re: Is ACTA SF a good analog for SFB or FC?
Aye, but most Fed ships have wide enough fire arcs that they don't have to keep the target in the forward arc to be effective, unless firing torps (what, twice a game usually ?). And if you're going in close, try using evasive action or boost shields to reduce damage. Unlike SFB/FC, the firing ship ...

Re: ACT: SF, Most Anticipated Fleet
oh and the Reliant. Not happening, ever . Licensing. NCL is the SFU equivalent (at least in the old Starfleet Command PC games). Me, I'm after the Lyrans. Might even see PFs appear along with them (please ?) Always my fave ships to fly in the SFU and the SL2500 renders look fantastic. Besides, I've...

Re: Is ACTA SF a good analog for SFB or FC?
Drone counter-drone fire (and ADD if they must for at least a few turns) as well as their ph-3 and tractors can usually handle the half dozen drones or less that you'd typically face with the control limit rule, the only time you really need to worry is if three ships with 4 AD racks target the same...

Re: Is ACTA SF a good analog for SFB or FC?
I am sorry, but if you get 50/50 splits in fed vs Klingon games someone is doing something wrong. I am sorry, but if the Feds are consistently losing, they're the ones doing something wrong :) One thing we did pick up on quite quickly (as Feddie bears) was that they can afford to go "fangs out" ear...

Re: Is ACTA SF a good analog for SFB or FC?
As it stands now the Klingons are pretty much unbeatable. I've played a lot more than 2 games as or against them , and I'd have to disagree :) For one thing, ACTA is a fleet scale game. one on one matches doesn't really work. 8+ per side is more common. With those sort of numbers, it's not that har...

There's a link for the ones shown in those pictures on the ADB Star Fleet webpage. http://www.starfleetgames.com/Call%20To%20Arms.shtml
Alternatively, if you PM me your email address I can send you the ones I posted up a while back (dead link now).

Re: [sf] Questions about Reload Weapons and Accurate
Plasma does usually take a huge chunk of available energy to load in the SFU games, so Power Drain is justifiable. I suspect that the Photons have Reload since it's (faster) one-turn arming and this game doesn't differentiate between partial loading and loading all torps, unlike SFB/FC. Maybe there'...

Nice report and pics, although I think you must have a lot of SFB players in your games with the way they try to stack all their ships on top of each other

Heh, I've had a set on order from when they were first put up for preorder :) SVC over at ADB has passed all but the general unit cards for release (he mentioned it when someone asked about them over on their forum), not sure why they haven't at least turned up as downloads like the first four as ye...
