Re: Doing my bit to mess with sorcerers
So Goh-Re-Sekt, from the example I gave earlier, would loose 3 magic points every 17 minutes until he was at 0 (85 minutes total), then loose a level of fatigue every 17 minutes. 17 minutes after he was dehabilitated, he would die. This gives him a little extra time, and some dramatic effect. Remem...

Re: Doing my bit to mess with sorcerers
I disagree with alex that it should be limited to Divine magics - the trope of sorcerors meddling with magic they barely understand is older than old. +1. Its actually quite an elegant, Newtonian view of how sorcery works and manifests. Once an effect is set in motion, it won't stop until it faced ...

These things happen.
I don't think that Pete or I want your Phase spell to disappear; but the co-credit is a nice idea, so yes - let's do that.
Thanks guys.

Re: Spells of Legend
That's fair enough, but worth wording the spell to include that phased food/drink remains viable for a phased character to use. Mind you, if you have to hold your breath while phased, eating and drinking is out of the question anyway (unless Abjure Air is being used), so for most the question of eat...

Re: Spells of Legend
Insubstantial characters still need food and water as normal and may perish if they spend a long time in this state without suitable provisions. If the spell affects what the recipient wears and carries, how are they able to eat? The food they require is going to be as insubstantial as they are. An...

Re: Elric of Melniboné
Anything at all like my Ancient Stones setting?? Well, having not read your Ancient Stones setting, I really couldn't say. Set in Wiltshire (though other places would work), around all the ancient monuments, standing stones, burials, henges, barrows, leylines. So ancient times but with common and d...

Re: Heroquesting; How and Why?
Also, what would be the best introductory work for the Glorantha setting? It seems that there is a frightful lot of books for it.. There are. The best introduction will be the forthcoming 'Guide to Glorantha' which should be released before Christmas. It aims to provide everything one needs to know...

Re: Heroquesting; How and Why?
HeroQuesting has been part of Glorantha's fabric since Day 1, but mechanics for it have been scarce. For RQ, there are rules in 'Cults of Glorantha' published for Legend's precursor, MRQII. However this book is now out of print in both print and PDF. You may be able to find remainder copies online. ...

Re: Elric of Melniboné
Campaign settings are a major investment - and a risk. They don't sell in large numbers, and they require committed support by the publisher. You therefore have to get it right and be confident that the setting will sell enough for you to be able to support it - and that you have the right support f...

Re: State of Legend
I would buy a NEW stock fantasy setting 100% compatible with Legend. Would 95% do? If so, 'Book of Quests' and 'Monster Island' for RQ6. It doesn't have to be a really big fully fleshed out world that's 500 pages long. Check. Both Book of Quests and Monster Island come in at 250-ish pages. But shou...

Re: Campaign settigns for a new player
You don't need to wait for RQ:Adventures in Glorantha to get some first-rate Third Age material. Moon Design Publications has its excellent Sartar/Sartar Companion and Pavis books already available, and is releasing 'The Guide to Glorantha' this year. The Guid is systemless, so you can use whatever ...

Re: Monster "Siren"
Interesting insight, Loz. Out of curiosity, what was the thinking behind the MRQII Monster Coliseum? Why release a book for gladiatorial campaigns rather than a traditional RPG bestiary? Matt and I discussed the releases for MRQII and he was keen to have 'Monster Coliseum'. This was an old Avalon H...

Re: Invisibility Spell
Hey, these are only my suggestions in answer to the original poster's enquiry. You don't have to use anything I submit to these posts. That's not in dispute. However, if you offer-up spells in the way that you do, you need to ensure that they either follow the RAW or you've caveated the description...

Re: Invisibility Spell
Nice ideas, but it would of been nice to also state for the spells to work you are changing how common magic works, for as RAW, the caster of the spell is the one who concentrates on it, not the recipient. So under RAW, Lord High Munckin concerns are valid. Old Timer is right. The mechanics of this...

Re: Monster "Siren"
The weakness stems from the fact that Monsters of Legend is simply MRQII's 'Monster Coliseum' with the coliseum stuff stripped-out. That book was designed around monsters largely appropriate to a coliseum environment, so the more esoteric monsters of myth and legend weren't included. We had far more...
