Re: [CONAN] The Citadel Beyond the North Wind by Thulsa

I assume you mean "XP3", not "XP2" ? Yep. Sorry for the mistake. I ordered XP2 when it was released, as I did for XP1... Citadel looks good at first glance, though I wish it could be thicker, describing the northern lands in deeper detail. As always with your work, the Sword & Sorcery elements are ...

Re: [CONAN] The Citadel Beyond the North Wind by Thulsa

Getting back to the topic: I just received my copy of XP2 at work (in no time!) and it looks really nice... More about it later.

Now I go back to work... on games unsurpringly! I t could be worse I know... ;-)

Re: [CONAN] The Citadel Beyond the North Wind by Thulsa

I don't think I see the flaws in the system (the Conan System). Maybe they happen at the higher levels (my PCs average 3rd level right now), and, to be fair, I only have experience with the Barbarian class (as I've had little use for any other class in my game to this point). Some of the problems o...

Re: [CONAN] The Citadel Beyond the North Wind by Thulsa

Hi Thulsa, though I've not been active on these boards for the past two years or so (due to lack of time), I still hang around from time to time. I think the last time I posted was for the release of XP2... I just ordered my paperback copy of XP3 from Lulu and I can't wait to read it! Of course, the...

I ordered the paper version from Lulu as soon as I got the new. After AK Mesopotamia and Spider God's Bride , I'm so glad to get nes S&S stuff from Thulsa! The price may seem a bit high, but I feel Thulsa largely derserves some of our bucks, for all the goodies he offered us so far on his site, espe...

Along with (Return to) The Road of Kings, Ruins of Hyboria and Across The Thunder River are truly the 'must have' books of the Conan range. Cities and Catacombs, while interesting, do not reach the quality of Ruins. Vincent managed to perfectly capture the REH spirit in that book.

I don't give XP anymore. I allow level advances depending on the characters actions and involvement in the campaign. The players don't always advance at the same rate. It works pretty well that way and it allows less book keeping. Conan is certainly not an 'XP chart" game...

The game becomes pretty useless to my eyes after lvl 10-12, so we generally stop the campaign when the characters reach thet level. On the contrary of S4, I tend to think that single class characters are stronger than multiclassed ones, especially in terms of fighting ability. A single class charact...

Don't like it so much. Looks at lot like a second rate Gladiator scene with some useless gore added to it. Crappy.

MGP would also be my favourite choice, as it seems a Darlage RQ Conan and a SaWo Conan were already designed, as well as a good part of the legendary 13 tomes Atlas... Actually I'll go for any publisher that has the good sense of keeping top writers like Darlage or Whithaker in their team and get ri...

It would take a lot of work to adapt DD4 to the Hyborian world There are some good points in the system that would fit the genre, though, like Second Wind for instance... The game is also a bit faster than its too crunchy OGL counterpart, but in overall, if you're not satisfied with the OGL rules, I...
