As a data point, I ordered a copy of High Guard from my FLGS, and yesterday they let me know their suppliers don't have any copies and likely won't have them for some time.
Not sure if this is a US supply issue or a concern with the book being in stock in general.
Everyone have fun!

Re: Behind the Claw - Now in Stock!
Awesome! I pre-ordered a copy from my FLGS yesterday, so this announcement is good timing. Matt, is there a way to buy a second copy of the map, so I don't need to take it out of the book? - Chris My FLGS order (in the USA) just arrived today and I was able to pick it up. This is a heavy book! :D I...

I'm pretty sure I've designed the cheapest starship in Traveller, though with some tweaking on the jump drive.

Re: Random Starship Questions
Sorry Shawn, I must have misinterpreted your statement. I thought you meant the referee needs to assess if the task has a chance of failure thus a roll is needed or not (does this thing warrant a roll). From there, I assumed a binary response: yes a roll needs to be done, in which the rule will be f...

Re: Random Starship Questions
With a Pilot 10- Difficulty, who would even try refueling from a Gas Giant? Even a space jockey with a Pilot 2 or 3 would find this a pretty difficult task. What is the price for failing the roll? Referees need to think first why a Task Check is being done for such a thing. That is where the answer...

Re: Random Starship Questions
The Free Trader has a Power 60 plant. Basic ship's systems cost 40 and Maneuver drive costs 20. If sensors cost 1, does that mean we need to shut off the coffee pot to run the sensors? No coffee or air conditioning for the flight through the system? I guess the real question is, how does powe...

Re: Random Starship Questions
First, no worries, Baldo! Those are great questions, and I didn't realize the sandcaster had so many options. I need to get High Guard. :D I made the title generic, so others can ask, as well. Thanks Dilbert and Condottiere for the follow-ups! The main take-away is that a turret can be locked forwar...

Re: Random Starship Questions
1. Your ship might be streamlined with airfoils; plus, a planned approach using navigational radar to identify calm spots, and task chain it to piloting. So how would that look? Extra time can reduce the difficulty to a 9-, but wouldn't that mean a 9- roll several times fro a task chain? Or do you ...

Re: Ship Valuation (aka Breaking Even)
hi Greysword! Welcome to the forum. I am going to jump into the discussion and argue that there is a different way of looking at trade and shipping, at least as far as any ship capable of more that a Jump 1 is concerned... A Jump 2 ship can make more money by moving more cargo at Jump 1 than it can...

Ship Shares, Profit Sharing, and Vessel Ownership
I have a (few) question(s) about starship ownership. Using Mongoose 2e rules, I reviewed ship shares in the core rulebook and in the historical threads here. So my main question is, what's the deal with ship ownership? What is the standard? Should all of the players be equal owners of the starship? ...

Thanks Dilbert! I appreciate going through it in detail.

More so that any other RPG.

Re: Ship Valuation (aka Breaking Even)
Thanks everyone! So, the purpose of the game is to not break even under standard rules. Rather, the deficit is to force GM engagement looking for the big score? Sounds... dangerous :P Some random comments: I have some difficulty following your spreadsheet. I generally put it per jump (~two weeks), e...

Ship Valuation (aka Breaking Even)
Hi Everyone, First post here, so I wanted to share something I've been working on (before I start asking the hard questions later  ). I'm new to Traveller, and I've been struck with the greatness of this game. I'm so sad I did start back int he 1980's, when this was available! Sorrow aside, I'...
