Re: Sword Worlds - ebook & Pre-Order

Playing Sword Worlders, and portraying them in a game, can be tricky. It is easy to slide into stereotypes – macho chauvinists who swear by Odin all the time and think they are better than everyone else, taking stupid risks for no good reason. The reality is far more complex and much more interesti...

Re: Question about Stunners

I was going to say that 5kg seems heavy for a rifle, but that's what a rifle is. Weird, since the ACR is only 3kg... various rifle masses seems a little chaotic when I look at them. Don't get me started on weights of weapons in MgT2. Swords for up to 4 kg, axes for 6 kg and rapiers for 2 kg? Are cl...

I'm pretty sure that The Trove is not a legitimate source, regarding copyrights and all that.

That's mighty fine of you, thanks!

I like what I read. I shall buy a copy (as if that was a question) next month, when the September releases are out.

Re: Shadows of Sindal - on PDF and Pre-Order!

Would it be possible to get either a list of the gear or of the contents of the book? Unfortunately, the pre-views on both the websites of Mongoose and DriveThruRPG don't offer content lists.

Re: Shadows of Sindal - on PDF and Pre-Order!

p. 68: Map: Hex scale "718k". 718km . Trying not to offend, but the map needs a little love. And what's with the city not collocated with the starport? If it's the ruined city where the Aslan live, perhaps making it as a ruin would be better. 1) As a general rule SI units (and in fact all units) sh...

Re: Errata: Tech-World UWP and write up don't match - Aslan and Trojan Reaches both broke

That's how we handled it for ages. Take Drinax as an opposite example: The official 'world' is the palace above Drinax proper. They don't have a working starship yard that can build j-drives, yet the starport is rated A. The TL of E is equally bogus, since the palace probably has no means of produci...

Re: Aslan Background Skills

Playing an Aslan in the Hierate proper is about as appealing to me as a campaign in Core or Massilia. Things are too settled there. The fun is out on the frontier. Yes, indeed, that's what I would think, too. However, with a book on the core regions of the 3I upcoming, something similar could be do...

Re: Fuel costs--jumps vs. weeks of operation

I would think plant life would usually supplant artificial systems for reasons of space efficiency. But as mentioned, it boosts morale by feeling more natural. Plus, mixed systems might include hidden or invisible parts, like algae growing in tanks that are fed light and waste water to produce oxyge...

Re: Aslan Background Skills

I'd say Aslan society produces a lot of outcasts and ihatei, which is good for adventuring and narrative game play. The Aslan player in my group has a TER 1 character who has abysmal SOC nonetheless, but was sent by his (minor) clan to work on relationships with the humans or the Trojan Reaches. The...

Re: Fuel costs--jumps vs. weeks of operation

Waste H2 off course could be used in fuel processors to generate fuel or be used as such directly (depending on what form of hydrogen ships use as fuel). And CO2 is not really a waste product, but needs to be further processed to be useful again. At TL8+ a star ship should be becoming a biome with c...

Re: Space Stations

There are also base construction rules in the Drinaxian Companion. Essentially these rules allow to build bases on planetoids that require landing on pads, but for the usual band of Travellers that's the same as your own space station, i. e. a place to store stuff, hide or establish trade for profit...

Re: Shadows of Sindal preview? SPOLIERS!

So, putting a spotlight on Paal in the first part, that's good news. I like, how adventures are used to flesh out the sector. It sounds a bit like Shadows of Sindal is somewhat a counterpart to Reach Adventure 6: Exodus in the regard of using bio-weapons.

Nice, I like it!

Re: Ammunition tracking

Make the Travellers go only out of ammo, if they snake eye a gun combat check and make a compromise on logisticy that buying ammo (for slug weapons) is only necessary after every other firefight and costs 10 percent of the base price of the most expensive ammo dependent weapon they own. It is very q...

Re: New Era, how accurate?

It is my contention that it was the Fifth Frontier War that critically damaged the Classic Traveller OTU. Gone were the adventure hooks and fascinating news articles, instead we got a few years of war reports. Gone was the setting were a small group of characters could get up to mischief and shenan...

Re: New Era, how accurate?

With the Pirates of Drinax campaign and its Neumann-shenenigans, I could absolutely see Mongoose do a TNE-era spin-off. Maybe as an easter-egg April's Fool, though those two dates only match up again in 2029.

Re: New Era, how accurate?

While it's true that material will eventually run out, you can evolve a setting into something new (or at least different) without going the lazy "rocks fall, everyone dies" route that happened with some of those brands. You certainly can, many publishers show this is possible. But once numbers in ...
