I'll echo Martin Dougherty's usual pitch for Flatlined, which starts with a group of amnesiac characters with no shoes on a sinking ship...

Uitasoayaw is (0840/Ranib), not (0810/Ranib);
To be tiresomely pedantic, it is 0810/Ranib, the subsector, but 0840/Trojan Reach, the sector.

It's "Ognar", not "Ogna".

And please send free previews/PDFs of all your future books to Geir Lanesskog for editing   .

Re: Pirates of Drinax - GMs thread

Great find, locarno! I'm not sure whether that counts as canon or not, but it was in the Traveller's Digest which was sanctioned by DGP was it not? I remember Hans Rancke-Madsen from the '90s online Traveller groups. Hans Rancke-Madsen is better known for his stuff on the Sword Worlds, which I thin...

Re: Upgrading drives on exisiting ships

Traveller doesn't really go off and explain how gravity tech works. I already asked the question about the difference between m-drive and lifters and it seems like lifters are just built-in, like what levitates an air/raft. So, let's say for your Cr 50,000 per dTon ship hull, you get lifters and com...

Re: Upgrading drives on exisiting ships

Drive stuff: Add for m-drive, replace for j-drive. That all makes sense. I'd give a trade-in salvage value for a perfectly functional old j-drive, though. Power plant, there's already an example of an add-in extra power plant in one of the Great Rift adventures, so that looks like an obvious add-in ...

Re: Ship software Intellect

Probably because in an early campaign way back in classic Traveller days, the ship had an intelligent brain, I've always been partial to ships with brains. Iain Banks only reinforced that in my vision. My logical take on Virtual Crew is that it would cover functions that the computer could perform w...

Re: New Traveller adventure up on DriveThruRPG: Makergod

I bought it and it looks very well done. Not sure if I'd actually run the adventure but it great background for Drinax about how Oghma works. How do things released via TAS fit into canon? Does this become "official" for that system, or is it subject to being overridden by the Drinaxian Compaign, fo...

Re: Gazelle Class Close Escort

Probably because it was originally designed with a small bridge because that's all that fit on the smaller hull (320 dT?) with the Classic High Guard rules. There is no option for smaller bridges in CT, and the CT Gazelle builds show no signs of any such extracurricular miniaturisation. My bad. May...

Re: Gazelle Class Close Escort

Minor nitpick, but I wouldn’t say the Gazelle has the wrong bridge, it is flagged as “small” in High Guard, so it’s a conscious choice. Why and how a warship is designed with a built-in -1DM to everything bridge-related is another issue... Probably because it was originally designed with a small br...

I'd like to see new Robots and Vargr. Otherwise, I think the direction you've gone with the Naval Campaign is excellent and I look forward to seeing the same approach taken towards a new Mercenary.

Re: Pirates of Drinax - GMs thread

The rules from the Central Supply Catalog (p. 67, Decryptor Software) actually handle encryption pretty well without needing to speculate about specific technology that we might not even be able to imagine at TL8: Decryptor software packages allow a comms operator to analyse intercepted transmission...

Re: Dogfights: Fighters vs. Bigger ships

35 Dt fighters with barbettes and dogfighting advantage cuts through any armour... With that in mind, I designed up a 35 Dt "Devestator Fighter" with a Very High Yield fusion barbette. Guanrenteed 15 points damage. At that tonnage, there's still a lot of extra space, even after I armored it up to 1...

Re: Dogfights: Fighters vs. Bigger ships

Some thoughts (rambles, anyway): I like the idea of playing with the timing based on range, but as soon as you have more than two combatants, especially if they have more than two thrust levels, or say the third is a SDB rushing to defend a merchant attacked by a pirate, that can get contradictory o...

Re: Dogfights: Fighters vs. Bigger ships

Effect is added to the damage roll so a laser has a chance to penetrate Armour 12, specially when a crit is possible. Damaging Spacecraft Once the total amount of damage a weapon is causing has been calculated, applying the Effect of the attack roll to the damage rolled as normal, the Armour of the...

Re: Dogfights: Fighters vs. Bigger ships

When facing fighters, you want to pop them before they get to you. Ships outside the dogfight can fire into the dogfight - with a penalty, but if you have such allies (and some fighters did not split off to harass them), they can save your hull better than you can. The problem with firing into the ...

Dogfights: Fighters vs. Bigger ships

There are other older threads about this, but I just wanted to confirm my understanding about how it really works, to make sure I'm not running it wrong. There're some asides in this, but please, pick my narrative and asides apart where they're wrong. Sorry in advance about any sarcasm and irreveren...

There's a running thread on Update #25 of the Kickstarter.
The link I have for it is about three lines long, so I'm not sure if it will work.
This one might, though:

Re: Traveller 2nd Edition Errata

Thanks! That's really useful and will probably save me from posting questions already answered. On the Heavy Fighter computer, I wonder if the intent was really to make it CT Model/5 which is now Model /25. I checked the original Fighting Ships, and that had the Computer as/7, reduced to /6 by lack ...
