Re: So, what's with the supplements?
See, I'm quite interested in the rules (assuming they are applicable to other campaigns), and the entirety of the Aslan stuff.

Re: So, what's with the supplements?
So what you're saying is that you have to buy the campaign bloat to get the actual meat of the system that gets added alongside them and there will never be a clear separate product that eliminates the need to hunt down the changes piecemeal? Or are the new mechanics covered in specific chapters in ...

Re: So, what's with the supplements?
I do like the system. It's simple. Works great with theater of the mind; and is surprisingly blind-friendly. It's just that the disparity between the two editions is crazy frustrating.
I didn't know there's only like two people working on Traveller though. I thought Mongoose was bigger than that?

Re: So, what's with the supplements?
All kinds of things, classes, races, other misc rules and alternatives tossed in. I've been told that Drinax features a good update for Aslan. There's no Aslan book (up to date anyway). That sucks. And as for fluff... what's wrong with fluff? A lot of it could just be recycled. Lame parts could be r...

So, what's with the supplements?
Hi, So I'm a new Traveller gamer. As MGT2 is the newest edition, I went that way a few months back and started learning the system and prepping things to start a big campaign soon. However, I was looking for some alien books and the like... and noticed that they and other such supplements only exist...

Re: The tonnage and real life value
Traveller does not use tons in the traditional maritime sense. They give no value for gross or net tonnage (which is actually a volume, not a weight). For reference, 260 tons (for tonnage) is equivalent to 1000 cubic meters of space. So... like 3.8 cubic meters per ton. Displacement tons are somethi...

Re: The Traveller Companion - It Exists!
As a very new player (just this summer, still learning, haven't even started a game yet) I can honestly say the lack of the traveller companion has been driving me ABSOLUTELY NUTS. Every time I have a question, I see a line in one of the books that says "see the Traveller Companion!". It's infuriati...

Re: Is SOC per society?
There is no confusion if you apply the characteristic the way it states in CT: Social Standing notes the social class and level of society from which the character (and his or her family ) come. People are social animals, we build societies. The Soc stat measures where you fit in. Yup, the referee ...

Re: Is SOC per society?
The thought I was having: During CharGen, your character's base culture generates a SOC score as normal. Each culture hegemony outside of the base one you start in, receives a fraction (1/4, 1/3, 1/2, etc) of your original SOC (or CHA, TER, etc) score as your new base SOC for THAT hegemony based on ...

Also asking because I'm considering it in the light of non 3rd imperium settings, too.

Re: Roughly how intelligent is he/she
If you roll a 2 for Int then the character is not very bright, politeness stops me using the words that would really describe them. I went to university with a lot of people who were not very bright - low Int score - but they had the education their parents had bought 8+ This poster speaks truth. Y...

Is SOC per society?
Some races seem to have other stats in lieu of SOC. Sometimes very similar ones.
Should SOC then be tracked per society? Ie: social level while in aslan territory, social status in the imperium, charisma when hangin' with the dogs, etc?

Re: Players and their armor.
I like the critical hit table idea. Back in my 2nd ed. D&D days, there was a GM screen that had critical hit tables where you rolled a die to see where you hit (6 sections) then rolled a d20 to see what happened (extra damage, loss of limb, disabling blows, etc). At one point I actually applied that...

Right on
Just random art or are you making it for a campaign, or am I completely oblivious and you're one of the Mongoose folks?
