Re: Traveller Mongoose 1E Core Rules are available on Fantasy Grounds

If I understand correctly, the ruleset author started this as a personal project to learn how to create a ruleset. Along the way, he got tapped to create the WOIN ruleset, which took precedence. Ultimately, he decided to finish the 1st ed ruleset rather than abandon it to do 2nd ed, but I believe he...

Re: High and Dry: 567-908

I want to run H&D as a prelude to Pirates of Drinax, so am thinking of moving it to Exocet in Tobia subsector. It's volcanic, close to the Imperium, but also Drinax, so transitioning should be easier than the default location. Bonus is not having to deal with the layover on 567-908.

Re: Pirates of Drinax - GMs thread

Let's add another pedantic question: 1): Pirates of Drinax starts in the year 1105; 2): Honour Among Thieves and Treasure Ship both take place in the year 1105; 3): The Vorito Gambit is supposed to happen seven years after the destruction of Vorito Highport (1105, again). Hmm... But how many months...

Re: Pirates of Drinax - GMs thread

We call it Drinax with a short i, but hey, you can do it however you like! :) I do pronounce Byrni with the long "I" though, so to each his own, I guess. I just have a hard time believing that there's this chivalrous knighthood on a planet pronounced "Bernie." Hmm, and here I thought it was...

Re: Starting Drinax Advice

I think the Capt receiving 5 shares presumes he will be paying ship maintenance and resupply costs. So adopting a more egalitarian option would presume an equal responsibility for handling those costs as well. Something I've seen done in another game was that the cost of maintenance and resupply got...

Re: TAS Membership: High Passage

Another way to look at it is to assume the High Passage is tied to the TAS membership itself and is non-transferable. The person with the TAS membership presents their membership card (chip, whatever) and if the system shows they are entitled to a high passage, they can use it. If they use it the sy...

Re: Navy/Marine records across different systems.

At a high enough TL there is surely no practical limit on how much personnel data you can hold on a big enough computer. So any navy ship of any size would probably have full records of all living current and past personnel from at least the sector fleet and probably the latest available Imperium G...

Re: Is there a place that is culturally cybernetic?

Exactly! What I'd love to see is a big campaign pack set on a Pop 10, TL 15 world with literally gravity-defying spires, teeming crime-ridden undercities and which focuses on the everyday impact of high technology and clones and chimerae and uplifts and augmentation and the role played by androids ...

Re: Thinking of getting rid of Astrogation, Medic...and ship computers in general

The way I rationalize skills and human intervention is that even if true AI exists, and there are a lot of reasons why a society may stifle that development, it's still not practical or economically feasible for everything to use it. So just like we have auto-pilots on planes today, starships have a...

Re: Acis: The Devil You Know

Sorry, I must not have been reading closely enough. Please feel free to print it and save it as a PDF. Heck, use Google Docs copying features to copy it to your own drive if you like and customize them for your needs. These world write-ups are freeware as far as I'm concerned. Meant for the Travell...

Re: Acis: The Devil You Know

Of course I know how to save it as a pdf - I just wanted to check that the author is OK with that. Oh sorry, misunderstood your question. You were actually asking of the author was okay with you downloading it so that you don't have to reference it online, not that you were asking him to create a p...

That is awesome and really deserves to be in the Drinax Companion.

Do you also have it as a downloable pdf as it would be easier for me to file with all my other Drinax pdfs and actually remember to use when I get there?

I just clicked, File, Print, then changed the destination to Save as PDF.

Re: Thrust and Movement in combat

The ship continues to move, but without applying additional thrust it isn't doing anything to actively close or increase the range between it and another ship/object. So if you are chasing a ship after round one, you still are in round two, but aren't continuing to close the gap and may actually get...

Armor with on-board computer

Battle Dress in the core book says it has an on-board Computer/2 giving tactical advice and updates. The Central Supply Catalog lists several other types of armors with computers. Computers are rated by their processing score and software by its bandwidth requirements. However, I don't see anything ...

Re: Setting up a new Colony

On a low tech world out in the wilds, what is to prevent a higher population world from setting up a colony on a lower population world in some unpopulated corner of it? Look at Drinax and Asim. There are just 200 000 Asim citizens on a planet. Drinax could open up a colony city/province on another...

Vehicle, Ship,, and Equipment sorted lists

Has anyone created a spreadsheet of all the stuff with each element in its own column so that sorting and/or filtering can be used? I don't have an issue with how the material is presented in the books, but for example, a GM might need to quickly see what gear is potentially available for purchase o...
