Re: [Freelance Traveller] March/April 2019 Available for Download!

If you download the Consolidated Index document, you'll find every article that's been in a PDF magazine listed alphabetically within its section heading, along with the issue number and page within the issue. The article you are interested in, however, has not (yet) been reprinted in the magazine ...

Re: [Freelance Traveller] March/April 2019 Available for Download!

Dumb question if I might? A while back, I spotted a very timely piece of advice from your "doing it my way" section of articles. The article in question is/was: Converting Worlds From Milieu 1100 to Milieu 0 (Bill Prankard) Undo 1100 years of a world's history. My question is this: do you have your ...

Page 5 of Mongoose Starports: "A runway for non-VTOL craft will be present if there is an atmosphere ." There is more in the preceding paragraph about 50 pads, etc etc.. etc (King an I go a long way back!) In any event - Things to keep in the back of your mind are: Mongoose Traveller is a legacy sys...

Re: Repairs, Maintenance, and Construction

Just a minor comment: In the Spinward Marches, only four worlds have been TL 15. Since GDW did not create a chronological timeline of when any given world achieved TL 15, for all we know, only one such world attained TL 15 100 years ago, while the other three may not have attained their current tech...

Knives.

Chopsticks.

Drinking straws.
Not quite what I meant...

*chuckling*

What I meant is that a TL 13 world could manufacture TL 10 items or parts or replacement parts.

Re: SITREP MJD

I suspect that any System Defense Force will have multiple ships in a variety of readiness status. For Example, the fleet has 4 System Defense Boats: 1 is on Active status - flying around, checking papers etc. within the 100D limit 1 is on Standby status - the ship is in port, docked etc. but could...

Re: Maintenance, Repairs, and construction

One thought that strikes me after having posted the response above???

There is nothing to keep a TL 13 world from producing TL 10 parts. So, a "neighboring" world doesn't have to be an exact match to the +1 tech level as described in T5. It need only be able to furnish such parts.

Re: Maintenance, Repairs, and construction

After spending some time looking through various rules sections in various incarnation of Traveller, I tried to find something, anything that would say whether or not the TL of a world impacts on what a starport can build or can not build, I came across the following: MgT: Starports can be built to ...

Re: Repairs, Maintenance, and Construction

The OTU with lots of different TLs implies somehow limited tech transfer. In researching various of the books put out for the OTU, I came across one thing in HARD TIMES that might explain the issue of "TL" disparity between worlds... It went on to say that TL isn't necessarily an indicator of knowl...

Re: Repairs, Maintenance, and Construction

No it doesn't, in the same way that the US Airforce doesn't build WW2 era aircraft for the transport or refueling role, and the US Navy doesn't build WW2 era transports for auxiliary duty - everything is state of the art because that's what the enemy does. It has auxiliaries and secondary warships ...

If we didn't have the Third Imperium to kick around anymore...

What if we didn't have the Third Imperium? What if, out of the blue, Marc said "no - you can't use it no more". (I know I know, he can't do it and even if he did, you'd still use the Third Imperium just out of sheer cussedness - but bear with me here) What book series would you use in lieu of the Th...

Re: Megafreighters

T4's Pocket Empires and Imperial Squadrons gave a look on how worlds produce spaceships and starships (mostly military but one can extrapolate private) based on several planetary factors including a world's tech level. I know I'm lazy *teasing grin* Got page numbers to look at specifically? I remem...

Re: What is "canon" these days?

I've haven't read Agent of the Imperium, or really dug through Tee Five beyond spaceship design, but it feels like revisionism, kinda like Star Wars Special Editions. A couple of comments on AotI and then I'll behave. As a book itself, written about a universe the Writer envisioned, the book and st...

Re: Maintenance, Repairs, and construction

The one thing I did like about TCS was the fact that they tried to imply that government types matter where it comes to how the military gets its funding, etc. Over at the SJGames Forums, I noted one person talking about max carrying capacity for worlds, and sprouted a 2% growth rate figure. To get ...

Operation of machinery and interpretation of data may not be reliant on technological level of applicant's schooling, that would be more intelligence and dexterity. As long as the process can be communicated to and understood by the applicant. I'm pretty sure Conan could grasp the operation of an F...

Re: What is "canon" these days?

as others have mentioned, the only thing that canon is important for is largely "History". There's official history, and then there's everything else. From day one, even if someone plays in an OTU - the game becomes its own "Parallel Universe" or "MTU". Marc can't know what happens in your universe,...

Re: Repairs, Maintenance, and Construction

CT 77, CT 81, TTB and ST had no restriction limiting ship construction to a worlds TL in the ship building section. Then within the setting we have examples of TL15 ships being constructed at TL10 planets and TL15 merchants operating a long way from TL15 worlds. And finally there is Kinorb A663659 ...
