Re: Neural Comm vs Neural Link

Except that a Neural Link allows the use of physical skill based expert systems, so it would seem to have more than read-only access to the CNS.

Thoughts?

Neural Comm vs Neural Link

What are some more ramifications of the neural link vs. the neural comm? Computer level? Does the neural link represent a wired nervous system, or just tapping into the motor centers of the brain? Could a neural link be hijacked to remotely control someone’s body? Could you program a sequence of mov...

Re: "any DM from the supplier"?

I'm just surprised that people still have the myopic approach of "It doesn't make any sense, but that's what's written in the book, so that's how it works". The whole purpose of the rules is to be a tool to help adjudicate a (fictional but we're presuming it follows recognizable rules) situation in ...

Re: "any DM from the supplier"?

I've always viewed that as being the skill of the broker on the other side of the transaction from you. Absent that component, the deck is always stacked in the players favor, and it is far too easy to turn a few thousand credits into millions in a very short period of time.

Re: Boarding actions

The stuff in the Drinax books is more about how you can successfully maneuver your ship to pirate another, advice about avoiding escorts or military craft, how fast you should steal their stuff and get on your merry way, etc. Not much on the actual boarding activities though it would have been an e...

Re: How many skills to describe a competent character?

The number of skills, and highest skill levels, that players want to have, are directly related to how the GM runs his game. If difficult rolls are called for all the time, and every roll has significant negative consequences on failure, then the players are going to want all the skill levels, stat ...

Are there not additional rules for boarding in the Drinax books?

Re: Particle beam radiation damage

Seems like you could easily calculate the cost of a layer of radiation shielding for small areas. They've got the cost/ton.

Re: Particle beam radiation damage

Given Gravitic control they could be using Neutron Accelerators. Harder to shield against.

Re: Tell me what you want.

Something more about wafer jacks, Neural Comms, and Neural Links. Implant stuff seems to be very under-represented given the obvious utility, and its well accepted presence as indicated by Agent of the Imperium.

Re: Tell me what you want.

Out beyond the Solomani Rim would be great.

It looks like someone started working on the Amderstun Sector, and then just stopped. There is a lot of great potential there.

Re: Behind the Claw editorial suggestion

I've been working on stuff for Beyond the Rim, Rimward of Solomani Space. I started in Warzone Defence, Rimward of a dangerous to salvage subsector Warzone, and Rimward from there. Other aliens, stuff going on. Spinward, through the Human Client states and past Zhodani space, would also be very inte...

Re: Brainstorming a Ringworld adventure

Seems like a society advanced enough to build a ringworld, if they walled off different sections, could implement differing gravity/filter sunlight for different environments as well. There is enough space that they could simply create an environment for every world or moon, within a few thousand li...

Re: Brainstorming a Ringworld adventure

Depending on how old you want it to be (perhaps it was created by a pre-Ancients species) any amount of materials or technologies could be found to have accreted here. Maybe it was built 100 million years ago, and cannibalized a secondary, or two. Maybe it was built from another solar system that wa...

Re: Brainstorming a Ringworld adventure

There are a few ringworlds in the Traveller universe. The one that I know of that is documented in canon is Leeitakot or Leenitakot, Hinterworlds 1432. There's also a sphereworld, Sphere, Nooq 3201. Both are Lorenverse canon, mentioned in GURPS Traveller Alien Races 3 . There are probably also some...
