Probably easier to imagine in a fantasy setting, where alliances can be sealed by marriage.
Fantasy? "Feudal" is the word you're reaching for, and I imagine a number of alliances in the TU have been sealed by marriage.

Typos, presumably. Should be Kg.
You sure? It's a heavy weapon, maybe it's meant to be vehicle-mounted.

Re: A question of A Ex Royal Guard Officers new rank

Assuming that "Brigadier" is shorthand for "Brigadier [1-star] General," there's no reason why he wouldn't continue to call himself that. The force is a heavily reinforced battalion, bordering on two battalions, rather less than what a general ought to command; but you can write it off as the guy's ...

Good enough for what? A Navy squadron rolls that "fleet" like cheap carpet.

Re: Thnk like a criminal in the Third Imperium

We'll, ah, skip right over the first thing that comes to mind about that image, and go straight to: does the Imperium employ an actual unit of psionic spies, in spite of the ban on psionics?

What is actually banned, anyway? Can just having a PSI score get you arrested?

Re: Thnk like a criminal in the Third Imperium

We're also going to need ideas on how to transmit information in ways that the Ministry of Justice or the Office of Naval Intelligence can't easily intercept. The simplest way to do this is still the oldest: send somebody. Don Corleone needs to send a message to Jareth the Goblin King. He tells the...

Spaceship armor: rhyme and/or reason?

Looking through the back of High Guard, I notice three warship designs that have no armor at all: the Midu Agasham -class destroyer, the Gionetti -class light cruiser, and the Arakoine -class strike cruiser. Several others have minimal armor. The Ghalalk -class armored cruiser is actually better armo...

Aha, that makes sense. That should probably be made explicit in the rules, though.

Re: How common are planetoid hulls?

The drives are bigger and hence more expensive. You need more jump fuel which decreases cargo space. Engineering tends to increase by twenty five percent; I doubt that you could break even at jump factor two, one is about doable. Can I get a citation, please? High Guard doesn't mention anything abo...

How common are planetoid hulls?

Using the rules in High Guard, the basic Type A free trader has a MCr12 hull: 200 tons times Cr50,000 per ton, plus 20% for streamlining. That's over a quarter of its ~MCr45 purchase price. A 250-dton rock costs MCr1: Cr4,000 per dton to pull it out of orbit and hollow it out for use as a hull, with...

Re: What rank should the commanding Pc have

I meant 4 full regiments and 1.7 10's of A 5th Regiment. Sorry if I wasn't clear enough Yeah, that's not really answering the question. What you have is four regiments, plus some (unattached?) forces. A few squads running around on their own? A couple of platoons? Who are these guys, and where do t...

"Nozzles" on the Element cruisers

The M-drive is gravitic and reactionless, right? So what are those rocket-nozzle-looking things at the rear of the Element-class cruisers? Am I just overlooking the bit where they're specified to use reaction drives?

Packing heat on Theev

The writeup for Theev says, "possession of a weapon that can breach the environmental seals on the settlements is punishable by death," but doesn't actually elucidate on what can and cannot breach said seals. Obviously, any kind of explosive, including hand grenades, is on the list. So is the entire...

Sounds like a great beginning. They might never leave. Are you setting this in the OTU or some variant thereof? Broad strokes. The players I'd be running this for have never played (and may have never heard of) Traveller, so I'm not going to get deep in the weeds of 3I politics, etc. Finding the Co...

Brainstorming a Ringworld adventure

Larry Niven's Ringworld is one of my very favorite novels, and lately I've been thinking about a Traveller adventure or mini-capaign set on a ringworld. Here's what I've got so far: The Travellers are approached by a liaison from a small university. The institute is in possession of some First Imper...
