Re: Did she do the right thing?

if you're going to roll on these tables, you need to accept the outcome. This sort of 'being merciful' is one reason for the incredible levels of campaign bloat you experience. Do you 'mercifully' reduce super-incredible best rolls ever, or do your players get to reap the rewards of their amazing lu...

You seem to be obsessed with that table.

Traveller is about people doing stuff, not watching your stock portfolio grow.

Re: When is it out?

I have agreed to deliver the manuscript at the end of November. So I know it won't be out before that.

Other than this, no real idea.

Re: How how you think it went?

I have no idea how it went.

you see, this is a game played for enjoyment. Was fun had? then it went well.

All I'm seeing some big numbers occurred. Big numbers and fun are not necessarily related.

Re: So, what's with the supplements?

I don't work for Mongoose. My day job, if you can call it that, is writing non-fiction books with some other stuff such as TV or magazine work. Quite a lot of my working time is spent on Mongoose materials, but I'm a freelancer rather than a permanent fixture. That does mean I'm not party to some of...

Re: Suggestions on how to continue

It this player wants to set a goal, like maybe creating a polity somewhere or building up a merchant line, then there's maybe a game to be played here. Though if that game is another repeat of 'get lucky on the Massive Windfall table and inherit a bunch of ships' schtick then I can't see the point. ...

Re: Child stuff

I'm trying to be helpful when I say that.... This is only relevant to you and your game. That's why nobody is commenting. There's nothing here that someone else might find useful. People will help you with sensible questions, but if you're expecting answers to something as niche as this you're going...

Re: How to justify 1 so young being so good?

But this isn't your Best Ever Luck Ever, is it? It's just yet another extreme result. If it was a one-off question then folks might take the time to answer. But it happens to you all the time, or so you claim. If you want this sort of thing in your game, then justify it. If you can't justify it, try...

Re: Suggest a suitable end for her

I like the idea of a Fairly Heavy Dreadnought. Apart from that, well, this is another of those occasions where what you're doing is so far beyond the scope of what everyone else does that you're not going to get meaningful answers. This character is an immortal superhero who owns several sectors of ...

Re: Roughly how good is she?

Piloting and swordsmanship have little to do with leadership unless the admiral has some exploits people talk about. Elsewise, this person has some good bonuses that should suggest in-game effects. Leadership seems to have some high bonuses so the rules suggest this person can lead well. And apparen...

Re: Roughly how intelligent is he/she

My experience with university students over 20 years or so is the same - people can earn a high level of education and be able to rememeber stuff from it without possessing much problem-solving ability. Or common sense.

And the opposite is also true.

Re: Suggested fleets if I do it again

I agree. You'll find it much easier to convince players to join a new game than picking one up in the middle.

Also, usual comments about scale. You'd be better to keep the scale small and not give out billions of credits on day 1. Apart from anything else, too many options will confuse the players.

You fill in for a sick shuttle pilot and the controls are configured EXACTLY as you like them, even though it's an unusual setup you're sure nobody else uses.

Re: Turning something real into Traveller

Imagine finding something you lost in a starport lounge in a different lounge several parsecs away. Worse... you see the old handcomp you lost in someone's hand. It's been years and half a subsector but you're sure. And weren't there some incriminating files on it, now you think? Running with that o...

Re: Does Oleb trust them too much?

We've reached a point where I wonder if this is just another unlikely scenario.

However, if it's true then you truly do not need people like that in your life.

If this is the local gaming scene then perhaps you need to find another area of interest.

Re: Does Oleb trust them too much?

Okay. Explain this contradiction, if you will. Your friend won't say too much in case her players realise it's her. But she says the game has been running for 6.047 years and in-game for 403.1 years. She has provided details of numbers of capital ships and who is loyal commanding them and all that o...

Re: Appraise this

There are several possible explanations, some of them rather worrying. Attention-seeking behaviour? An attempt to show us all how more gamer he is because his version of the game is so more epic than ours? Troll job? What's becoming obvious is that he isn't going to start asking sensible questions o...

Re: Appraise this

The possibility of a poor result is irrelevant, because you always get the most uber fantastic rolls ever and by incredible chance manage to start with a setting-breaking level of power. My unbiased opinion is that if you want to game at this scale, just assign the resources and have at it. Asking '...

Which seems unlikely.
