Re: Help me find what I need

Well then. You need to generate sensible characters with mo more than 3-4 terms, no allowing huge stats or rerolling until they get lucky. Definitely no vast portfolios. And focus on details, not vast sweeps of time until the next random roll on the Big Money Chart. Roleplay chasing rumours in the b...

Re: Help me find what I need

Official stuff won't work with your usual style of play. Given incidents you've related in the past withoin a couple of sessions your players will have the best equipment, super-psions and a fleet of ships with hundreds of loyal minions. The offical materials were not written with that level of rewa...

Re: What rank would she have

Naturally this is the most powerful/greatest/best. That was a given. Odd that you gave a very specific force composition then found it was entirely different. Specificity wasn't really necessary but if you're going to do it, it seems strange to do it without checking. Two companies with supports mig...

Re: What rank would she have

In British practice a company commander will hold the rank of major.

A case could be made for lt-colonel if the noble is pretentious and thinks inflated rank adds to her own status.

Re: How should she cope

This situation is out of control because - YET AGAIN - someone you know who is playing Drinax has permitted a grossly overpowered result. Super-powered psions have AGAIN made someone do something that hands vast power to the players. Not long ago it was the Duke of Tobia who was psioniced into gambl...

Re: How common are planetoid hulls?

I agree they're very useful for system defence craft, perhaps as mobile forts rather than fast striking vessels. An asteroid ship could hide in a belt pretty effectively.

Re: Are they too ambitious

This isn't a question other people can answer because it depends on play style. If someone can roll on a custom table and get six battleships, then these ambitions are pitiful. If your players are scraping credits together to get one hotel room so they can all get a shower for the first time in a fo...

Re: Help me design a ship

My response was intended as somewhat sarcastic and ironic humour relating to your comments about sarcasm being acceptable.

I'd go with sarcasm squared integrated between zero and irony.

Or.... don't worry about it. It was just a throwaway line for humour's sake.

Re: Your opinions on this Drinax

Grossly out of all proportion to anything I'd expect from the source material or any sort of plausibiity. If you had fun, that's all that matters I guess. But it seems to me that the way you interpret the game materials revolves around a couple of die rolls resulting in huge success and vast riches....

So this is ANOTHER group you know who are playing Drinax who've been at it for game-decades? Do you know anyone who plays the game like, you know, everyone else does?

Re: How to stop outrageous luck ruining the fun

Also.... A prize court will award a percentage of the value of the ship to the Travellers, but it's not going to be a big percentage and the ship is not going to be rated at full value - it's a pirate and probably in need of a LOT of work to be valuable again. Cargo is not likely to be more than a f...

Re: How to stop outrageous luck ruining the fun

Nobody gets as many outrageously lucky rolls as you and your friends. I recall that in the past you've asked if it would be OK to ignore bad results, so I strongly suspect that there is a culture of 'accept the good rolls, invent an excuse to ignore the bad ones' that needs to be challenged. There a...

Re: What rank should the commanding Pc have

What constitutes a regiment? Typically the term is used for an administrative formation which has one or more battalions (in WWII, lots of battalions, today regiments are typically trying to retain one and avoid amalgamation). In that context the regiment will have a titular colonel-in-chief who is ...

Re: Is it a good enough mutally beneficial deal?

In short, everything. This is a deal between world governments. You're probably looking at it from the point of view of what vast resources it brings in and which three skill rolls are reasonable to set it up. More likely, a deal llike this will require years of negotiation, some missions to solve p...

Re: Help me design a ship

A vessel five times the displacement of another is not a variant. It is a wholly new design. And yet again we have a staggeringly lucky portfolio roll creating the need to spend vast sums of cash. You're trying to play at a level of financial power you clearly can't cope with. Playing at a more mode...

So.... you want people to create a game for you that you don't actually intend to use... just to basically cheat in some kind of contest?

As I've said before there are a lot of helpful people on these forums, but you're abusing their goodwill.

Re: How to run it?

To borrow a line from The Martian, you're going to have to railroad the **** out of it. You're (apparently, I have trouble following your stream of consciousness) asking how to create an extremely specific outcome. The only answer to that is to script it closely. It is quite simply not possible to s...
