Re: Mercenary Cruiser deck plan flaws?

One thing i wish someone would draw up is the strimline version they mentioned it in the TAS issue that had the design. Kinda like the gazelle strimlined sister the furry, which I personally like better, that was eventually given a full write up in one of the MTJ's. Greate books I have all 4? Maybe ...

Re: Pirates of Drinax 2nd Ed: Typos, Errors, Bugs, Gremlins, Etc.

Some things I found missing I should say I hope are just missing. The book seems to state that Aslan have the same base states as a human 2d6 Str,Dex,End,Int,Edu if this I'd the case I would hope you rethink this. In both mt and CT they had the following modified states. Stf 2d6+2, End 2d +2 , and D...

Re: Pirates of Drinax 2nd Ed: Typos, Errors, Bugs, Gremlins, Etc.

When talking about Aslan rite of passage nothing makes sense. The actual rite is a test which examines the Traveller’s abilities and qualities, and males and females undergo different rites. A male Aslan rolls 2D which is compared to each of his characteristics apart from TER. A Rite of Passage scor...

Re: New Paizo SF RPG: Competitor with Traveller?

I have to say that is one way Traveller has always disappoint me we have Coil Guns i.e. Gauss guns but no Rail guns other than starships weapons. I always thought that Rail Guns would be used as heavy sniper rifles and as crew served anti armor weapons like the old bazookas. But than I never thought...

Re: Revisiting Fighters in a Post High Guard Era

I also will acknowledge that I have not read the new High Guard still waiting for it to be sent. But I do have a lot of experience with older versions. I have been reading what you have been saying and I've noticed a couple of things. In older Traveller there was a thing call agility which because o...

Re: Revisiting Fighters in a Post High Guard Era

2. The most realistic choice for the next generation of space drive is a VASIMR which is also being tested by NASA for long term use. Nasa is going old school with a twist for its latest interplanetary drive. Nuclear Thermal Propulsion (NTP) using a reactor with low-enriched uranium to address conc...

Re: Revisiting Fighters in a Post High Guard Era

Couple of things I think must be pointed out. 1. The EM drive has not been proven to work out side the van Allen belt in fact many scientists now think it is a reaction to the Van Allen belt that makes it work. Great for satellites not for space travel 2. The most realistic choice for the next gener...

Re: New Paizo SF RPG: Competitor with Traveller?

I thought I'd try to get this thread back on target. So is starfinder going to be a competitor to Traveller It will just be yet another sci-fi RPG to choose from is all. Those that like its die mechanic and product branding will flock to it, if looking for a sci-fi game. As far as being a competito...

Re: New Paizo SF RPG: Competitor with Traveller?

I thought I'd try to get this thread back on target. So is starfinder going to be a competitor to Traveller well let me ask a question has Dark Heresy been a major competitor? Has Prime Directives been? Veriuos version of Starwars or Star Trek? Traveller is a very established RPG that has a varied f...

Re: Advance character gen?

I still found the Megatraveller alien book far more useful and engaging than the first editions. I remember one of my groups had to do something but they had to get help from the Vilani section of a city and none of them paid ant attention to the different and that just cause them all sort of trouble.

Re: Advance character gen?

The Mongoose alien books ran about 150 pages about the races than had a sector or something to fill the rest the Megatraveller books ran about the same but combined 2 races to get a similar page count.

Re: Advance character gen?

I like that the Mongoose Alien books kept to just one race in each one they produced. They added to what was already printed in earlier editions of Alien books. Some Aliens got a revamp/reboot, because license reasons maybe. I like a few of the illustrated styles that have been used for Aslan from ...

Re: Advance character gen?

Basically the advance character Gen Only covered the main careers Navy, Army, Scouts, Merchants Those were the only ones that the LBB 1st edition covered. MegaTraveller Added Air-force with Coacc Book. In many Ways for character Gen and Race Books Mongoose could get a lot from the way Megatraveller ...

Re: Advance character gen?

The 1st edition of Traveller i.e. the Little Black Books had a expanded character creation tables in the later core books. These included going to college and yearly assignments. They told you what kind of duty you did each year of your four year term but you also had to make a survival check for ea...

Advance character gen?

I've been looking through my copy Drinax's Aslan character generation system and it happens to strike me as a basic character generation system like that which was found in the first LBB's. and since I'm waiting for my copies of the new main books I was wondering if there are going to be advanced ch...
