Re: Questions about playing while Visually Impaired

Not blind and don't have any blind players, but I think I have some ideas that might help. 1.) Make sure maps are oriented toward the GM so all moves are based off the GM's perspective. 2.) Use chess like grid system, with numbers for rows and letters for columns. (Ones row should be on the side of ...

Re: Why is there a Jump Fuel requirement?

T5 allows for both to exist at the same time. The bubble is simpler in design and allows for variable displacement hulls, such as external cargo, ect. The disadvantage is due to the debris near a bubble can push the displacement to overload the bubble and misjump or fail. The grid systems is more co...

Re: Solar Panels for refining fuel

Considering you need partial or better streamlining to do skimming, however stations have the refinery which allows for skimming from orbit via skimming drones.

Re: Solar Panels for refining fuel

Given the restrictions on maneuvering with solar panels, it appears to be the assumption that the fuel processor is being used in a skimming operation. As to the short bursts, it might be like Extended Arrays where you can't maneuver while the array is deployed but you can retract then move( Next Tu...

Re: Ship Design Philosophy

Moon Shots are ok when you limit the number of them, set and stick to budgets.

The problem was most of the major systems on for example the venture star project were all moon shots with no clear budgetary restraints.

Re: Ship Design Philosophy

The problem with the SSTO were tech creep and not doing enough ground work to stabilize the tech involved.

Re: Solar Panels for refining fuel

Solar panels do require engineers to maintain them as its a major power system, which can be accomplished through automation.

The hull requirements are only for the power calculation not a limit on the solar panel size, just need to note you can't maneuver with panels deployed.

Re: Questions on starship hull points

It is unlikely the ship would have systems left as each hit above 10% of starting hull is a crit due to sustained damage.

Re: Why is there a Jump Fuel requirement?

with a reactionless engine, all you need is a source of energy, no reaction mass needed, Your forgetting the fusion power plant still needs fuel and the real problem with old explanation was the ability to arbitrarily expend more energy than its power plant rating would allow by shoving more fuel t...

Re: Why is there a Jump Fuel requirement?

The hydrogen bubble cleans up a problem with being able to super charge the power plant, namely the power plant then should be able to use the same output for other uses. The hydrogen jump bubble can be thought of as expanding real space into a bubble creating a void with the ship inside of it ( Jum...

What is often forgotten is the need to reserve thrust for evasion, you won't be going full tilt when your engaged unless your trying to escape or maintaining engagement.

Its more like modern warships, where the big weapons have outstripped armour protection with similar increase in "light" weapon damage capability.

Here's an example of armour on top of hull is about.

Notice the bit sticking out above the 67, that is armour plating and underneath it is the hull.

Also have Armoured Bulkheads under Options. Armoured Bulkheads Armoured bulkheads protect specific areas and systems, such as the ship’s computer, jump drive or fuel tanks, making them much more resilient to damage. Also supertankers hull can be breached by small arms, just requires a massive amount...

Re: Armor Effectiveness

Armour isn't hull, its an added layer.

Also need to take into account that ship scale only takes 1/10th damage from personal scale weapons.

So your 4d6 pistol would only do up to 2 points at ship scale.

Vehicles 2ed small and large turret provides some insight for how things could be distributed. A small turret is a simple pod that contains only the weapon and any electronics required to fire it, controlled from a remote station within the vehicle. A small turret costs Cr10000 for every Space of in...

Those are values used for the average gunner / experienced gunners in MB MGT 2ed, for Capital scale its strictly the gunnery skill with 2 being average.
