Re: Computer dice question

It doesn't count as a success.
(The example on page 26 in the Players Handbook shows a situation that the player fails when rolling the computer dice.)

Re: "Upgrade" introduction mission

Sounds pretty good. Suggestion: Because the first mission is an introductory mission to the system, I would have ordered the players to become leaders of the group by outranking the others (A.I. becoming red clearance) so that the game won't get dissrupted too easily, before they get to the importan...

Re: YCBBBR Map Cards?

You should have a "maps" file with six maps. It is a separate file from the cards (4 tracks, 1 cards, 1 maps- six files in total).

Re: Advice: Roll Difficulty

Did you consider 0 successes? Page 20 in the GM's book has a table for difficulty (and it has 0). 0 is considered average, 1-"requires a bit of effort and knowledge", 2-considered "quite hard". Remember that players have other resources, besides their skills (action cards, mutant powers and xp point...

Re: New Player Questions?

How do you integrate meta-game punishments into the game? Let's say a player should get penalized for talking about the rules - how would you link ingame consequences to this? Using your example of not talking about the rules: I would say, that when a player is required to be penalized for talking ...

Re: New Player Questions?

1) If a player gets xp points for going to a termination booth is generally up to you, the GM. In general it's not encouraged, it's an easy escape from a bad situation. I'd give points on cerain conditions, for example if the player does it in an amusing way, or fills out a 10 page form while everyo...

Re: Character Creation Issue / Query.

When the second preview of the game was sent to the KS backers we had a discussion about those rules specifically (the rules written then are the same as now). The preview that came after that said that a player's +skill will be replaced with a -skill, that raised the question that not all players w...

Re: Character Creation Issue / Query.

The red box on the next page says it all. It is all up to the GM rulings, taking into account the 3 main rules: 1. Each skill can be chosen once per round 2. You can't pick a skill you already have 3. You end with 5 positive skills and 5 negative skills Here are two examples: 1) You can't take anoth...

Re: Confused about combat

Indeed it is, any action that is done by a simple skill roll is a standard action. All the actions on the cards are either spetial actions or reactions. I'd like to use this situation to report a treasonous act of ignoring the "Troubleshooting for Red Clones" in which it states: "When two characters...

Re: Confused about combat

You got it.
Remember to "Always give the PCs a chance to react and avoid before you hurt or kill them" (page 16 in the GM's book).

Re: Confused about combat

If rolling dice is that important to you, there are rules for GM rolls on page 18 in the GM's book. On the other hand, here's how I see the way it should work (without dice): As the GM, you decide the difficulty and the players will attempt to Strike (melee, ranged, or other) or Dodge (athletics in ...

Re: New Paranoia NPC Question

Taking into account that the GM doesn't roll dice. I'd say that when the NPC takes action, the players roll the save, from here you have a choice: 1) the GM adds the NPC's skill to the difficulty number set to begin with. 2) the GM removes the amount of dice from the NODE (or adds dice if the NODE i...

Re: Question regarding new interactive screen

The "control" is a space in the seconds clutter of spaces for cards from the left of the screen (above the "help" space on the right). If someone placed a card on that space you use the right column ("control is pressed"). If not, you use the other column (control is not pressed")
