Re: Paranoia RCE - contradictory NPC damage rules?

That you for taking time from being involved in a kickstarter to respond. I'm currently juggling some ideas on a homebrewed version of game designed to use all the cool stuff in the boxes set (cards, dice, setting and everything), but using a more crunchy resolution mechanism. Though, as a youngster...

Setting Targets

I'm wondering if I've got this worked out correctly. I've was trying to figure out the average number of successes generated by each NODE. I am assuming that the computer die only has a 1:6 chance of rolling a success (rolling a "5") and a 4:6 of generating a failure for negative NODEs (rolling less...

Re: Paranoia RCE - contradictory NPC damage rules?

Hey, thank you very much for responding to my ill mannered moan. Having read through the rules, they do just say, "Make stuff up." What happened with my group was, we were playing the introductory mission from the mission book, and we got as far as page 28, when we were introduced to NPC's with skil...

Re: "Upgrade" introduction mission

I guess that pre-generating notes for players before the mission and handing them out at opportune moments would be suitably Paranoia. Especially if the players make choices or take actions that render your notes moot. Simply handing the players the pre-written notes which references the choices you...

Re: Old gamer rants about new edition destroying everything good

Thank you both for expressing your thoughts in a clear and concise manner. I've been singularly unimpressed with the new set of rules. I think I might have a set of Ghost Busters around here somewhere. Maybe it is time to take that for a spin again; or else run something like Breakers, an Apo...

Re: Paranoia RCE - contradictory NPC damage rules?

I find this version of the game so depressing. I purchased a game that basically says, "Just make stuff up". I could have done that myself and saved the price of the kickstarter. Sorry to be negative, but I has hoping for a game with a fun setting backed up by some elegant and inventive design. Inst...

Re: Advice: Roll Difficulty

@Shai, thanks for some good solid advice. I feel that the book rather leaves novice GM's all at sea; especially as it effectively says, "Make stuff up", rather rendering the rules a bit moot.

Re: New Paranoia NPC Question

Thanks for the reply, Shai. I'm still trying to get my group to give the game another go :(

New Paranoia NPC Question

Hi, I've tried playing the latest version of Paranoia (does it have an official designation to separate it from previous versions?), and we ran in to an issue. In the Dealing With NPCs section the rules refer to NPC skills, but then doesn't go in to how these are supposed to interact with the task r...
