Re: Laboratory Ship Fuel Tanks

I agree that room is aft of the corridor. I didn't notice that the colour marked it as bridge. Why is it a problem that the bridge doesn't have a free view forward? A spacecraft navigates by sensors, not by sight. In a spinning ship a compensated screen is probably better than a viewport. It is not...

Re: Laboratory Ship Fuel Tanks

Aft? The bridge is in the ring which is the "side" of the ship. Take a look at this screen cap from the deck plans in High Guard: https://ibb.co/dFMXGU So the floor would be facing "down" in the lab ship so that when the ship is spinning with artificial G turned off you could create gravity. I plac...

Traveller going away party

Two of the players in my "Pirates of Drinax" campaign are moving out of state and we're having a little going away party/Traveller game tonight to wish them a fond farewell. For the party, I asked my sister-in-law to make a few goodies. Suffice it to say, she outdid herself. Check out these Travelle...

Re: Appraise this

What would be ideal is to have Matthew or someone at Mongoose actually moderate the forum, because this is swamping other posts with a non-stop flood of nonsense. ^^^^^ This. Sure, we can scroll down to find the serious topics but I'd be concerned that the fact that we have to do so might be puttin...

Re: Laboratory Ship Fuel Tanks

This came up in a recent discussion with players in a campaign I'm running. One of the characters is a 5-term scientist and received a lab ship mustering out award. He doesn't have it yet, but I'm planning on incorporating the award of the ship into the story and I interpolated a set of 2D deck plan...

Re: The Harrier’s armory

My players used one of the boarding guns to cut a hole in the Janal Torsk , Ferrik Redthane's far trader. I suspect they'll use it again. The pistols and swords are cool, but the players are pretty attached to their gauss rifles and gauss pistols instead. We also have an ex-marine who acquired battl...

Re: Would it be a war-crime?

It is 100% ineffective. My current theory is that he is a bot or possibly a Russian agent trying to turn traveller players against each other. This possibility hadn't occurred to me. I think you're on to something there. If so, I have to hand it to them. Their operation is more comprehensive than I...

Re: Tell me what you want.

Bummer about the Gateway stuff. I would really have liked it if we could see an 1105 version of your Gateway. I really thought "Gateway to Destiny" was some fine work. Oh, well. So setting that aside, I'd like to see a Fifth Frontier War campaign set similar to what was done with "Pirates of Drinax....

Re: Tell me what you want.

One of the "State of the Mongoose" threads mentioned something about developing the K'kree. I'd love to see that done in the context of a region of space where humaniti interacts with them. Martin, I know you've done work on the Gateway/Glimmerdrift/Ley/Crucis Margin region for a past incarnation of...

Re: [Drinax] What do the people on the floating palace do?

The campaign books mention that they converted one section to hydroponics, but there is also the fact that they reconquered the agricultural world of Asim. I would expect that that's where they now get the majority of their food supply. In my campaign, the University is also a place where a lot of a...

Re: Drinax Campaign update:

Very cool to hear how your campaign has gone, PsiTraveller! We're much earlier in the timeline. My guys tried to set up an arrangement wherein they performed trade and diplomacy and they farmed out the piracy to other interests, but the King wouldn't hear of it. Being a king, he felt that his plan (...

Re: Has the Traveller timeline ever advanced?

From what Matthew has posted in the past, they do intend to revisit the Fifth Frontier War eventually so that would advance the timeline. Not sure if they ever intend to repeat the Rebellion.

He has also posted that they’re more interested in enhancing the setting than advancing it chronologically.

Re: Behind the Claw editorial suggestion

I’ll be very happy to see new material that completely differentiates itself from the Drinax campaign. Let’s have a new flavor. For me, Deneb and the Spinward Marches invoke more of a Dune/Foundation/Babylon 5 feel where Drinax and the Trojan Reach for lack of a better analog are more Fireflyesque. ...

Behind the Claw editorial suggestion

I imagine it's too late to alter the course now, whatever it might be, but one thing I might suggest for the upcoming "Behind the Claw" book is to alter the design a bit from what we got in the Trojan Reach book that came with "Pirates of Drinax." The system write-ups in that book tend to be loaded ...

Very useful data! Thanks, tjoneslo. Wow. The Solomani Rim represents the single largest market. Makes sense, I suppose, but somehow I imagined Core holding more sway. Sort of colors the OTU in a new light.

Re: adventures in desktop publishing

The ideal world for a red dwarf would be a large gas giant satellite. The tidal warming from the gravitational interactions between the star and gas giant would supply energy to keep the planet's core melted (maintaining a strong planetary magnetic field). But it should be the gas giant's only larg...

The discussion is around situations in which it might come up in a fictitious universe that has artificial G and enduring it when it comes up. Several good points made by all.

Re: G-force induced loss of consciousness

Not really thinking of 100 Gs. More like 2-9 Gs. I'm thinking Athletics (END) is the most likely candidate for a task check, but we could probably work in some kind of task chain plus potential roleplaying moves (positioning the body better) to stay conscious during the effect. Here's my perception ...

G-force induced loss of consciousness

It doesn't come up that often in Traveller because we have our beloved hand wavey gravitics technology, but what if it does come up? Has anyone come up with rules for handling the ability to withstand G force? Apparently fitness, age, and training, as well as body positioning can affect how many Gs ...

Re: Answerin (Minor Human Race)

Good choice to use the Answerin. I remember reading about this race in Challenge I believe it was, many years ago. I always thought it would be cool to offer them as an alternative race for a player to run.
