Re: Tyr: Last Stand in the Dustbelt

Yes, thanks for sharing this (and the earlier one). Haven't read them, so no feedback as yet, but just wanted to share the appreciation. It's good to have more detailed write-ups in the event the players visit there. I especially like the world maps -- I love having visuals on hand, be it maps or p...

Re: How close are orbital starports?

Ships come in from many directions, so we need many 100D stations to catch most traffic. I would argue that it isn't the vagaries of where an astrogator chooses to arrive in a system, so much as the unpredictability of jump durations. Given that each starport has a predictable orbital period, shoul...

Sounds like fun. Thanks for posting the link. Gritty sci-fi is my favorite kind.

Re: Traveller Starships on Shapeways

Finished painting my subby and launch. That looks great! Would you mind if I posted the pictures on the Foreven Shipyard Facebook page? Please do! Got my scout, seeker, and patrol cruiser yesterday. I'll post photos there after they're painted (and magneted). :) Since they are 1:1000 scale, that me...

In the Great Rift Kickstarter comments, they've indicated that the K'kree are high on their list. Sounds like there might be something in 2018.

Re: Traveller Starships on Shapeways

And off-topic, I was thinking about attaching some of my home baseboard trim with magnets. The only reason to remove them is for ease of painting, which isn't a frequent event, but new nail holes (or paint spills if they're not removed) every decade or so has left my baseboards looking a bit ugly. ...

Re: Traveller Starships on Shapeways

For the Subsidized Merchant and Launch, superglue one magnet into the hole on the bottom of the Launch, and glue another magnet to right where the circular thing is on the top aft of the Subsidized Merchant. You'll then have a Launch you can put on the ship, or take off and put on a stand. Worked l...

Tyr: Last Stand in the Dustbelt

A new entry in my ongoing series of Trojan Reach planet write-ups! I really look forward to implementing this one in my own campaign. With my players enroute to the region, there's a good chance I can put it to use. Here's my write-up of the Tyr system: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1nzw--h_QxA...

Re: Pirates of Drinax: GM questions

What if the Harrier starts firing? Presumably sensors still won't be able to detect it. Or once you attack is the invisibility dispelled (so to speak)? I'm not sure the rules have anything to say about that, but a particle weapon requires 60Mw, so presumably it has a signature and a pathway whose s...

Re: Traveller Starships on Shapeways

Magnets! What an excellent idea. Thanks, Mike. Just ordered 100 on eBay. I'll definitely post a pic when I'm done. Planning on making the subby into the Perfect Stranger from the new Mongoose Traveller adventure, "Islands in the Rift." Can't wait for the Beowulf, and will watch the site closely for ...

Re: Traveller Starships on Shapeways

Excellent, thank you! Got my subsidized merchant and launch today. First, I'd like to tell you the sculpt and scale are excellent. Perfect size really. Much bigger than the TNE subby mini that came out in the 90s. The launch looks great, too. A little critical feedback: The base prong does not fit ...

Re: Iron Spine: Infiltrating the Glorious Empire (Adventure)

Thanks for having a look! I just noticed that the MgT2 version of Yeróilra now matches travellermap.com , which lists the planet as TL 7, not TL 11 (which is where Mongoose had it in MgT1). I will be adjusting the adventure and my previous write-up of the planet to match the updated UWP. I actually ...

Re: Reach Adventure 3: The Calixcuel Incident in print

I'm running a sandbox campaign and my players have decided to go to Chalchiutlicue. Woohoo! Means I get to run "The Calixcuel Incident." Anyone else run it? Any tips on what went well? What didn't? It's a pretty straightforward and well-written adventure, so I'm sure it'll be enjoyable, but it'd be ...

Iron Spine: Infiltrating the Glorious Empire (Adventure)

In addition to my gazillion planetary write-ups, I've written a few adventures. I'd like to share my favorite one which I have titled "Iron Spine": https://docs.google.com/document/d/18lovsNS1lRY14Tz8d6iiC91HsJ9wl-9Ac4yUOiIMpso/edit?usp=sharing This adventure is actually Part 2 of a trilogy that tak...

Looks like they're updating it in the new Deep Space Exploration Handbook in the "Great Rift Boxed Set." It accounts for super-earths this time, which is a welcome addition.

Re: Do jump nets make the Beowulf obsolete?

Suppose the ship with the clamp had damaged Jump engines. Being held in the clamp was a 200 ton ship with the same Jump capacity. Could the ship in the Docking Clamp be the Jumper ship, and not the Jumpee? Carrier not cargo as it were? Do you think it’s implied that the clamps contain the tech to p...

Re: Do jump nets make the Beowulf obsolete?

In Mongoose, it's a slingshot, the jump drive is only activated for the period needed to open the rabbit hole into jumpspace, and then the starship coasts for a week. CT had drop tanks. Doesn’t that imply that the drives were also inoperative after jump was engaged? If the fuel is expended before d...

With a jump bubble, you'll only need a jump net if the cargo extrudes beyond the bubble.
Where in the rules is fine control of a jump bubble explained? And if it is, why did they present the jump net at all?
