Re: Pirates of Drinax - GMs thread

The space station is pretty far from Drinax. Do the players intend to change their area of operations? If their goal is to recreate the original Kingdom of Drinax, or some facsimile thereof, it's not an ideal location. Of course, it is a sandbox campaign. Could be that the players change their objec...

Re: Pirates of Drinax - GMs thread

That must have been it: he confused fluid (Fl) for water world (Wa). It's a tough retcon to engineer. Aslan aren't likely to leave a challenging, fluid-atmosphere environment for another challenging fluid-atmosphere environment if they have better choices. In addition to its fluid atmosphere, Pourne...

Re: Pirates of Drinax - GMs thread

Found a little problem with the adventure "Ihatei!" Keaih, the planet the two warring clans came from, is described as a water world: "The Hkaaiheir and the Htyowao are both respectable clans within the Hierate. The Hkaaiheir are considerably more powerful, but the Htyowao are close allies with the ...

Re: Pirates of Drinax - GMs thread

I don't know about that Dan. There is a precedent in space opera: We came to know Han Solo as "hawn" in "A New Hope," and then suddenly, in "Empire Strikes Back," along comes Lando and he's "han." You can switch. It's not too late. :)

Re: Pirates of Drinax - GMs thread

2 - I've always imagined the name Drinax to be pronounced "Dry-nax", however recently heard someone pronounce it "Drin-ax" with a short 'i'...is there an official pronunciation out there? For my ears "Dry-nax" has a more powerful ring to it. We call it Drinax with a short i, but hey, you can do it ...

Re: Dogfight rules

To answer my own question: Brilliant Lances presented a pretty good vector-based rules set. I wonder if some of it can be put to use in MgT2. Hmm. I'll have to dig up my copy.

Gravity assist

Have any of you employed gravity assists in starship maneuvering in your games? I'd like to find a way to add gravity assist rules to starship operation that don't entirely feel like hand-waviness and I'd like to know if anyone has any suggestions.

Re: Flexible Far Traders?

The two knowns are that you can't use the fuel in a bladder for the immediate jump , and that transferring it to the main fuel tank would cause instability to the point of a misjump, since the volume changes while in hyperspace. Condottiere makes the key point: bladders are just for fuel transfer i...

Re: The Great Rift

Finally got mine! And not a moment too soon. Running "Flatlined" this weekend with "Deepnight Endeavor" on deck. Sure, I could run them with PDFs, but there's something about having the nice, shiny, official books in my grubby hands that appeals to me. The products look great. I had read most of the...

Re: What is the deal of decoy missiles?

Depending on the cost, they can be a good defensive mechanism. The more lasers your opponent assigns to point defense, the fewer he is using to perforate your ship. The next Q is: Why not just use sandcasters to nullify his lasers? A: Yes, that makes sense, but sandcasters only reduce the damage of ...

Re: Cargo crane & loading belt

I think both are more for color than actual technical detail. If any of you referee down to the level of the performance of your loading belt and/or cargo crane, my hat goes off to you. I suppose more detail could be warranted in certain situations (e.g., smuggling and law enforcement is on the way).

Re: Lost in Space?

I've watched the first two episodes. Very pretty. I was a little put off by the fact that they were essentially using iPhones in the first episode. Can't the designers engage in a little futurism and imagine something more advanced? Still, the show does look good. Basically a 70's family show set in...

Re: Pirates of Drinax: Game of Sun & Shadow

My players in the pirate characters prevented both Theev and Drinax from being pummeled by the Imperium as the Pirate Planet, and solidified their place and the #1 pirate gang in the Reaches, after freeing a lot of pirates, even some of the big names, from the prison camp. Just out of curiosity whi...

The Harrier, in working condition, will shred the Far Trader. You might want to throw a close escort at it or something similar.
