Re: Why no career books?

The career books are fun. Lots more detail and thought put into each of the careers in the Core Rulebook. That kind of material is valuable for players and referees alike. I'm really looking forward to that Mercenary book. I've been pondering running another merc campaign some day and it would no do...

Re: Why no career books?

Mongoose's offerings haven't been nearly as prolific in MgT2 as they were in MgT1. They've increased the graphics quality, but cut down on the quantity. In Matthew's "State of the Mongoose," he explicitly said, "We wanted to avoid ‘career’ books in the new edition, unless they actually added somethi...

Re: How do you generate child characters?

I have a recurring child character in my campaign. If you're familiar with the Mongoose adventure, "Last Flight of the Amuar," it involves finding a lost Leviathan -class merchant cruiser that purportedly has the nephew of the patron aboard. I changed that so that it was the ex-wife and child of one...

Re: Traveller Companion

What happened to guys like Gareth Hanrahan? Did they retire from Traveller? Is Martin the only one "keeping the flame"?

Re: Traveller Companion

Mongoose published a pretty ambitious "State of the Mongoose" last January. It doesn't look like most of that's going to see the light of day this year unless they clone Martin.

Sounds like a great beginning. They might never leave. Are you setting this in the OTU or some variant thereof?

Re: Prison adventure ideas

Are you using the planetary prison on Khaliki (Trojan Reach 3111 D31156B–9) Ice Capped Non-Industrial O:2912 Prison, Exile Camp? It's in the region of your campaign and this affords you the opportunity to develop it.

Re: adventures in desktop publishing

InDesign is a little old world when it comes to the complexities of desktop publishing. Reminds me a bit of FrameMaker, a highly counter-intuitive tool if there ever was one. Both are under the Adobe name, of course. I wish I could remember all the details of how I got it to work, but both of the Tr...

Sounds like a really unenjoyable campaign to play in. When you give the players everything, why should they try?

Re: How Do You (Logically) Prevent Players from Skipping Payments?

I've never had my players try to skip, but if they did, it's possible they could get away with it. It depends on a few things: Are they in a dense, heavily populated, highly civilized region of space? If your campaign happens near the Imperial Core, the Solomani Rim, the Spinward Main, or many other...

Re: Players and their armor.

In great Cthulhu's unholy name, get it through your head: no modern chief executive, whatever his or her title, would be allowed to go into battle. They are simply too important to the state to be permitted to appear on a battlefield in person. Even President Trump, if he wanted to lead an MEU into...

Re: Pirates of Drinax: Fencing ships

That ended up being exactly the amount they got. I had Zhuekvi, one of the pirate lords mentioned in "Pirates of Drinax," run into them on Palindrome and he intervened when he saw that the crew of the Harrier (my players renamed it Ghost of Sindal ) had acquired the Janal Torsk , Ferrik Redthane's f...

Pirates of Drinax: Fencing ships

For those of you running a Drinax campaign, I assume most of you have run into situations in which the travellers acquire one or more prize ships while pirating the Void. Have your travellers sold any of the ships they steal? How have you handled that? Do you imagine it like the "chop shop" scenario...

Re: Players and their armor.

You're not listing all the options. Perhaps the players can leverage the mob/corrupt cops another way. Perhaps they can leave the system, obtain something (tech, assistance, financial leverage) that sways the mob/corrupt cops to continue their current course. The military solution isn't always the o...

Re: Players and their armor.

Those are all great solutions if you want to drill down to that level. In spite of the implications, I intend to just go with the "splat" method. Battledress and combat armor essentially make you impervious to most attacks. But once a capable enemy decides he needs to eliminate you, he brings the to...

Psionics vs. aliens

How do you handle psionics when used by a human against aliens? For example, using the various telepathy skills on an Aslan or Vargr mind. What if the alien doesn't even speak Galanglic? Surely language is a part of psionic comprehension and suggestion. Has anyone addressed this situation and how di...

Re: Theev planetoids

I don't think there is any additional information on those. Theev is an astrographically rich system with its four gas giants and three planetoid belts. For Theev not to be a belter hub, those belts must have been played out by the Sindalian Empire. Could be an explorer would find the remnants of so...

In addition, Mars has this little problem: https://www.space.com/37402-mars-life-s ... ation.html

I'm not sure how would-be terraformers would address that. Introduce some sort of perchlorate-resistant bacteria?
