Re: Pirates of Drinax: GM questions

I have a question for anyone who has run the Pirates of Drinax in MgT1: When you completed the campaign, did you continue it even after the travellers have presumably either amassed exorbitant wealth or massive planetary fiefs? If so, how did you make that work?

Re: Pirates of Drinax: GM questions

Good observations, Dan. I think I glossed over some of the contradictory elements of the campaign expecting that they'd be resolved in the reading of it. Not so. As it turns out, it's sort of the raving of a mad king and the mechanics of the plan are worked out by what the players do. I think the wa...

More stuff of the same quality (with, perhaps, better final editing) and published more often! In other words (well the same word, actually), MORE. :D

Re: Starship Weapons Power Requirements

The scout isn't actually "free." It's on loan. As indicated in the mustering out write-up, the scout ship "can (and will!)" be called back to active duty as necessary. Great adventure lead opportunity!

Re: Questions ?

The one thing I've always had a hard time time finding is a sci-fi game with all of the following elements: 1- Aliens, 2- Power armour 3- Starship contruction and combat rules (AKA: The Han Solo effect; get a junker, go adventuring, make money, upgrade said junker into a super cool ship) 4- Psionic...

Re: How close are orbital starports?

So it sounds like they run the full gamut. Well, Senlis Orbital shall be inside 10-diameters, primarily because I want my travellers to get shot without a quick jump being a viable option.

How close are orbital starports?

I'm sure this would vary a lot from system to system, but typically how close would you imagine an orbital starport to be to the system mainworld? Surely inside 100-diameters. Inside 10 diameters? Inside 1 diameter?

Re: Nick Nova, Star Traveller (web series)

I don't think Condotierre said anything to contradict that. He said they might find their freedom limited; nothing about not roleplaying well. Besides, Shawn, you indicated that you use pre-rolls to introduce new players to the game. While being new does not preclude them being good roleplayers, if ...

Re: Nick Nova, Star Traveller (web series)

Thanks, Nick. Another nice Traveller intro, especially as a tool to wean D&D players over to the sci-fi side. You brought up an interesting method that I've heard several people use, but which baffles me: pre-rolled characters. I think using pre-rolled characters takes a massive amount of fun out of...

Re: Starport defences

It probably also depends upon the locale. Near the Imperial Core, for example, there are massive clusters of worlds separated by only one parsec. Some of these jump-1 clusters are dozens of parsecs from the Imperial border and might have the notion (however faulty) that they are safe from attack. Su...

Re: Plot Idea..Wrangels Fleet..Fleet stuck in Exile

Great plot idea. Others have written similar treatments both in "Pirates of Drinax" as PsiTraveller indicated and also in Amderstun Sector (look three sectors rimward of the Solomani Rim for the unofficial sector data). But I like the Vargr angle of your take on it, even more so because it involves ...

Re: Radiation Trait?

This is going slightly off-topic, but may I just raise one more concern about the game balance implications of the Drinax Harrier and then I'll shut up. :D With a particle barbette having a range of very long, and with the Harrier's 6G thrust, it seems to me that the players are going to be able to...

That and probably extracting ice from their 10 other planets and any gas giant moons that have any. So just how did a planet in the middle of the Rift end up with 90 billion people?

Re: So. Where are the Aliens

They built the sport as the player character model. I have always wanted to play a small oytrip group as a player character such as engineers. They're fairly like minded so you don't need or want much individuality from them. The alien quality would be their group mind. Talk to one and they all lis...

Re: Cheap Colonial Hauler for Paltrysum

Based on the notion that Albe has 20 billion people crammed onto a medium-sized desert world, I'm guessing a lot. A few million would be a drop in the bucket, so I'm guessing at least 50-100 million, and probably more along the lines of 500 million over several years of back-and-forth transport.

Re: Reach Adventure 5: Borderland Run

I like it! Maybe I can string my players along, doing Calixcuel Incident and perhaps Marooned on Marduk before the Borderland one comes out in December. I should think their accomplishments in those three adventures (plus Amuar , which they're almost done with) might garner the attention of a certai...

Re: Artificial gravity and acceleration

Does make me think though... if a ship is accelerating at 9+ g and takes a hit disabling the gravity generators, I wouldn't want to be the guy who goes inside to clean up the mess afterwards. There should be a failsafe that cuts the thrust if the gravitics goes down. That should prevent your travel...
