Re: Pirates of Drinax - GMs thread

It has occurred to me that the ending assumes that Jali either gets blown to bits or puts her nanotech to the test, but is there a reason why her nanotech couldn't be disabled/cured as a middle ground? The Archon earlier in the story has his own nanotech that could do this and the Immortal Protecto...

Re: Pirates of Drinax - GMs thread

Just want to report that we finished the Demon's Eye. We got to play it right from the script: the group made it to Neumann and Jali prepared her nanite cocktail to cure the planet's ills causing the Immortal Protector to reveal himself. He explained that her cure had only a 40% chance of working an...

Re: New Era, how accurate?

MWM had left GDW by the time it was decided to reboot Traveller as TNE - that's why he doesn't know about the Empress Wave and how the TNE story would have played out in the future if GDW hadn't gone bust. As you know, he does acknowledge it. It's even a plot element in Agent of the Imperium . And ...

Hi. I don't mean the covert, pop up turrets. I mean the openly visible turrets on the top of the ship.

But don't worry, even I can just copy and paste a couple of icons in Paint. :)

Cheers,

Si.
Oh! Duh. Yeah, sorry about that. Tunnel vision on my part. Fixed for future users. :)

Re: Great Rift Adventure 1: Islands in the Rift 2D Deck Plan

Ah! Just one tiny thing you missed - the ceiling iris valves to the dorsal turrets. But I can add those myself in, like 2 minutes. This is great, thanks again. I think those two turrets would be ventral, not dorsal. If they were dorsal, they would go through the fuel tanks. Those are pop-up turrets...

Unfortunately, you aren't likely to get in touch with Leroy, possibly ever. Not that you'd want to if you found out what has become of him. He's in prison for doing something quite bad. It gets worse if you go down the web search rathole by Googling his name. And yes, the Traveller Leroy and the one...

Re: Great Rift Adventure 1: Islands in the Rift 2D Deck Plan

How does this look? Have I missed anything? I did notice that there are a few "unreachable” rooms on deck 1. For example, the two hidden turrets and the central power plant. Not sure if that was intentional by the designers. I also threw in some detail for the launch which was blank. https://i.ibb.c...

No, but I will renew my efforts to get it done in the next day or so. I would like to run that adventure some day and could use a set of 2D deck plans for it myself.

Re: Question about Stunners

I consider the ion weapon more of a homage to Empire Strikes Back than an OTU sort of thing. It is nice to see more non-lethal weapon options out there, maybe a sign of the times... Ion weapons are presented in High Guard but are strictly turret or bay weapons in that tome. If you buy the upcoming ...

Re: Question about Stunners

I’m wondering where EMP ammunition fits in with ion weaponry. I’m also wondering if an armor’s Rad protective rating should be used as protection against ion weaponry. Now that's an idea worth exploring. Maybe divide the RAD rating by 10 as a negative DM to the damage of the ion weapon. So it's a s...

Re: Question about Stunners

So you're telling me you're trying to be internally consistent with previous Mongoose material? Given my rants on the lack of the same in the past, I should probably applaud this. But I still don't like long range stunners. I'm in agreement with you on that. I like the idea that you have to get up ...

Re: Question about Stunners

Charges could use a nerfing but I think we have to stick the damage as is and maybe only cut back the range by 5m. The hand-held TL13 stunner from the CSC does 3D and has a range of 10. And now, to REALLY blow your mind, please have a look at these and let me know if I'm completely off my rocker (pl...

Re: Question about Stunners

What do you think of this design? Stun Rifle : A non-lethal weapon, designed to inflict a massive shock to the target or targets, incapacitating them. The stun rifle employs similar technology to that of the stunner (refer to p. 116 in the Central Supply Catalog), inflicting more damage and providin...

Playing an Aslan in the Hierate proper is about as appealing to me as a campaign in Core or Massilia. Things are too settled there. The fun is out on the frontier.
About that...

Re: POLL: Naval Campaigns

Great feedback on this thread. Naval adventures are designed with flexibility in mind. The Travellers can operate a ship anywhere from a destroyer (about 3,000 tons) to the largest battleship or dreadnought in the fleet. The Element -class cruiser was selected in order to provide a mid-sized capital...
