Re: JTAS Kickstarter - Funded and Stretch Goals Unlocked

Baldo: what would you hope to see about Ruupiin? To be honest, I expect it to have plenty of pacified, cookie-cutter garden worlds under the watchful eyes of Steppelords, a handful of interdicted sophont homeworlds still being guided to the true path, lots of inhospitable worlds that are not worth ...

Re: Holi, And Other Local Cultural Festivals

I'm currently running a "Pirates of Drinax" campaign, but it started as a more typical 'tramp trader' campaign centered on the Albe system. The OTU description of the world includes the following: 'The last heir, Gorluun III, was placed in a stasis field for legal reasons. He is unfrozen once a year...

Re: Third Imperium Supplements in MongTrav2e

My players recently indicated they might go commerce raiding in the Wildeman Cluster. My eyes lit up, knowing that all that resource material exists. There are even a few MgT2 mini adventures that were published in that region ("Revolution on Acrid," and "The Cordan Conflict.")

Funny you should mention it. :)

I made one for the adventure when I ran it. Here it is:

You're going to love "Flatlined." I ran it a few months ago and it was a lot of fun. Great way to launch a campaign.

Re: Adding radiation shielding

I figure it was probably a traumatic enough incident that half those mercs might find another line of work. But Captain Ygrant, as described in "Ship Encounters" sounds like a woman dedicated to her chosen career. She might be sporting a newly bald head and some radiation scarring, but this just giv...

Re: Adding radiation shielding

Thanks for the responses. I'll go with the consensus which is a resounding no , it can't be done because it's integral to the hull. It's come up in my Pirates campaign, in which the mercenary cruiser, Hero , was subjected to multiple PA attacks from the Harrier . The mercs managed to escape, irradia...

As for the Garu class ship, I have questions.
You have 7 tons of TL 8 power plant. My Highguard shows that produces 10 Power per ton for 70 points of power. You are showing 75. Where is the other 5 coming from?
It should be 70. The 75 is a typo.

There are two different aspects to the operation, the power required by the jump drive, and then how the jump drive processes that power, that used to energize the lanthanum grid.
No lanthanum grids in MgT2.

Adding radiation shielding

Is it possible to add rad shielding to an existing ship? Since it requires no tonnage, my instincts say yes. Looking for validation from the community.

Re: Pirates of Drinax - GMs thread

I hear you on the sandbox. You definitely don't want to railroad them. Mine are working their way up toward Sindal Subsector now per "Prodigal Outcast," directing them to the planet to which they redirected the Ihatei, which in our campaign is the Oghma Cluster, primarily Marduk and Borite. I'm been...

Re: Pirates of Drinax - GMs thread

Sounds like a great start to the adventure. What is the contingency plan if they manage to catch Dr. Jali? If the whole story does not progress to Neumann, what happens?

Re: High Efficiency Batteries for Jump

Based on the RAW, it would only require a single round to recharge the batteries using available power: They can be recharged in any round by excess Power not being used by other systems. These Power points may then be used in any subsequent round as if they were being produced by the power plant; s...

Re: High Efficiency Batteries for Jump

Under MGT rules, the hydrogen is used to create a 'bubble' around the ship, which over time degrades and when it collapses you are popped out into normal space. So you now physically need hydrogen to make a jump. Previous versions of Traveller had the power systems generating energy to power the ju...

High Efficiency Batteries for Jump

Is there a reason high-efficiency batteries are not the go-to source for jump energy in ship designs? Seems like a more efficient use of space.

Re: Far Trader/Free Trader Power Requirments in High Guard

That's correct. Presumably that's a typo in High Guard. Both Beowulf hull ships seem to have it wrong. The stats are correct on the Empress Marava-class trader.

Re: Core 2 & High Guard 2 rules check - EW, mssiles, armor

MCr 53 to jack up the crew of a MCr 30 000 warship is completely trivial. Note that the Command Bridge costs MCr 468 for a much smaller advantage. I would gladly pay much more to upgrade the weapons of the ship to Accurate or Long Range for a similar advantage. This is, in my opinion, the best argu...

Re: Core 2 & High Guard 2 rules check - EW, mssiles, armor

A TL-13 wafer jack costs Cr15,000. The Skill Augmentation augment is a whopping Cr150,000. That's Cr165,000 per person. Let's take a look at Mongoose's Ghalalk -class cruiser for an example of personnel requirements: 385. Even if you only install those items in 80% of the ship's personnel, you're st...

Re: Core 2 & High Guard 2 rules check - EW, mssiles, armor

I generally use skill-2, charDM +1 for normal professional military crew. For warships from competent navies I also assume skill augmentation (+1) and expert system support (+1) and perhaps DEX/INT/EDU augmentation (+1) despite expense. Stealthed ships won't be hiding from a Sensor Op with those qu...
