Re: Pirates of Drinax - GMs thread

The other thing is that they are quite effective instruments of death. Some of my players have become pretty cavalier about using the PA to irradiate their prey. However, one player in the group has made the observation that the PA is really supposed to be a deterrent weapon. You sneak up on your pr...

Re: Animal Encounter: The Groat

Now that I've been digging around a bit, I don't think there are stats anywhere, not even for CT. Nice description in The Traveller Adventure that made its way into Aramis: The Traveller Adventure as well: Groat : Herbivore native to Fulacin in the Rhylanor subsector. Individual groats are harmless,...

Re: Pirates of Drinax - GMs thread

Definitely not designed to go toe to toe with a viable ship. Now, for landing on low-tech or poorly defended worlds and raiding the heck out of them, they're nicely geared for that. My players are also looking at how to upgrade the three they acquired. If they send them out as is to pirate other shi...

Re: Pirates of Drinax - GMs thread

I sent six 300 ton Oghman Raiders (from Makergod) with 8 fighters to scare them off, but it didn't work – they charged in. With some unusually clever tactic (keeping at Very Long range, good for Particle accelerators, bad for pulse lasers) they triumphed. We just used the very same ships during "Pr...

Animal Encounter: The Groat

Mongoose has redone many of the CT animal encounters. Anyone recall if the Groat has been redone anywhere? I'm sure I can convert it myself, but if there's new art and stats, I'd use them. :)

You have to expend the L-Hyd to create the jump bubble.

Re: High Efficiency Batteries for Jump

Resurrecting this old thread. I'd forgotten that _High Guard's_ Express Boat design uses batteries for jump. So in MgT2, it's canonical!

Re: Pirates of Drinax - GMs thread

Our little group of pirates has now embarked upon "Prodigal Outcast," which will be the fourth adventure for us in the Drinax Campaign. Kasiyl's request for their aid was met with enthusiasm (partially because it has been intertwined with the ambitions of one of the Travellers—more on that later!) b...

Re: Who controls Hkakh?

Naah, too complicated. Just replace Hkakh with a different world in the commercial PDFs of Pirates of Drinax , and pretend nothing happened. I always look for ways to keep printed and therefore canonical stuff true without wholesale changes. And I have a wildly liberal capacity for suspension of di...

Re: Who controls Hkakh?

Perhaps the Tokolfeahr are vassals of the Arhiyao who had a dispute with the Ahroay'if that did not involve the host Arhiyao. Yes, it's complicated, but maybe it works?

Re: Reflections on Flatlined

Just out of curiosity, how many people is the adventure originally planned for? I ran it with four and it went very well. There always seemed to be something to do for each of them. The opening montage was great. Each of them was asking questions, exploring the heck out of the ship. It was a super-...

Re: Tyr-adores sector additional info

Pirates of Drinax Book 2: The Trojan Reach has some information. In addition, the upcoming Naval Adventure 3: Fire on the Sindalian Main features Tyr rather prominently.

Re: Hlaulrakh (Gravity Spear, TL14): technology breaker?

Well, they have Aslan NPCs carrying the spears around in one of the “Pirates of Drinax” adventures and the plasma streamer being used as a man portable weapon by another NPC so pretty sure “tons” is an error.

Re: Subsidized Merchant Fiances

I've never seen anything in the rules that describes the arrangement in detail. It is just assumed that paying for a Subby's monthly mortgage would be impossible for an independent merchant and therefore ownership of one must be "subsidized." For your game, perhaps come up with an investor who contr...

A few resources for such a project:
  • Classic Traveller's The Spinward Marches Campaign
  • Mongoose's The Lunion Shield Worlds supplement
The CT booklet has lots of FFW fleet movement info.

Mixing Stun and Physical damage

If a character has his END reduced to zero using a Stun weapon and then recovers only to be, let's say, shot with a gauss pistol, reducing his STR and DEX to zero, does he die? Or do you count Stun and Physical damage separately? Here are the rules listed for Stun: "If the target’s END is reduced to...

Re: T20’s on Bundle of Holding- useful for a MG2 game?

Hmm, "still existing"/"valid"/"canon"/etc. in 1105, maybe? You're right, adapting whatever you want for your campaign is easy, but I still would like to have that K'Kree/Gateway Sector book hinted by Matt in the State Of the Mongoose 2018 thread, not the old version of the same. Just my personal pr...
