Here is the 1st pre-generated character translated into Mongoose 2nd Edition along with his Far Trader Ship https://orig00.deviantart.net/1b4d/f/2018/170/1/5/traveller_character_sheet_retired_merchant_captain_by_thomasbowman767-dceu0xg.png I have some others on the way, but they take a little time t...

Re: Players and their armor.

I'm not sure the Moot has the authority to overrule the Emperor if the Emperor decides go into battle in a meteoric assault capsule leading a battalion of Marines. Whether the Moot has the legal authority is a... ahem... moot point. No politician worth his pork barrel is going to let an enemy be ab...

Update ideas for the classic Adventure ANNIC NOVA

Like the Double Shadows adventure, I think this one too could use some updating. Mostly the original is a bunch of room descriptions, a few dead bodies and a disease! There is nothing that actually attacks the adventurers except possibly a disease they catch. The crew is dead including a child when ...

Re: Players and their armor.

If you're a Merchant with a weapons fetish -- something we see a lot in Traveller -- or mustered out military who just doesn't want to leave the firepower behind, there's always the gray market and black market. But those tend to be expensive. So how do you gain legal access to military grade hardw...

Re: Players and their armor.

His government wouldn't let him. It's as simple as that. The Emperor is far too valuable to ever set foot on a battlefield, no matter how big his cojones. The Parliament (can't remember what it's called off the top of my head) and the military leadership would find a way to keep him safely in the p...

Re: Players and their armor.

Well if your dead, you haven't got anything. What would the Emperor Stephron wear if he went into battle? Suppose Stephron wasn't just a sit on the throne type, what if he wanted to personally lead his troops into battle? All his advisors would be howling in protest if he chose to do this, I bet.

www.worlddreambank.org/V/VENISHTA.GIF http://www.worlddreambank.org/V/VENISHTA.GIF Here is a part of Venus with a climate comparable to Europe's. As I said before Venus has a warmer climate than Earth, even though it is further away from the Sun, due to its thicker atmosphere and greater greenhouse...

Re: The Solar System Campaign

Venus is a primitive world. Third planet from the Sun, it has been moved to a further out orbit, has a year length of 461 days, and orbits at a distance of about 110 million miles It has a starport X, Size 8, Atmosphere is 8 (Dense), Hydrographic is 8 (80%), Population is about 7 to 8, Government ty...

Re: Players and their armor.

How much does a planet cost? Some of the population figures for some of the planets are pretty low. So what if the PCs decide to set up base on a low population planet and start trying to develop it? If they are running a planet, they could get military gear when trying to build up a defense force.

Re: Players and their armor.

A little over the top I know. the above scenario illustrates one point, player characters at "high level" are usually at the head of an organization. A "high level" player is usually directing troops and playing Napoleon, he has lots of guards, and spends a lot of time counting the numbers for his v...

Re: Players and their armor.

Those are all great solutions if you want to drill down to that level. In spite of the implications, I intend to just go with the "splat" method. Battledress and combat armor essentially make you impervious to most attacks. But once a capable enemy decides he needs to eliminate you, he brings the t...

Re: What tech level are these?

Time Travel is ultra high tech, I wouldn't be surprised if a timeship had a fabricator instead of a ship's locker. Basically the fabricator can fabricate any tech level 15 item that can fit within the confines of a ship's locker, or it can fabricate parts that when fitted together can make larger it...

Limited Time Travel Campaign

Has anyone tried this? introduce time travel to a Modern Traveller campaign by having a timeship appear from the future? Lets say the lone operator of the time ship is dead or incapacitate, and the timeship has an AI that can run it, but the time jump controls are locked into two destinations in tim...

Re: Players and their armor.

Battledress doesn't make you invulnerable, it just makes you quite tough. It also absolutely invites the other side to escalate. First off, BattleDress armored people aren't a police problem, it's a military problem. If you don't have a handy military rapid response team that rolls out when really ...

Re: The Solar System Campaign

This is impressive stuff Tom. You might consider publishing it one day.... Thank you. The above map is a generic Solar System Map, it is the Solar System of today. I am thinking of combining the Solar System campaign with limited time travel. Very limited time travel, here's the idea. We start with...

Re: The Solar System Campaign

Here is a blank map of the Solar System, it works this way, the first number is the radius in units of 10 million miles from the Sun, the rest of the number is the number of days in its orbit from the 180 degree position. The ideas is to use each space on the map for one orbital space colony. I thin...

Re: Players and their armor.

What if your character is a witness to a mob hit, and you testified in court and now the mob wants you dead, and you ask for permission to wear heavy armor, and the police say no, we'll protect you, but you suspect some of those cops are being paid off by the mob, and you don't trust them to protec...

Re: Players and their armor.

I call it the "Ping-Splat" conundrum: Either the enemies can't do anything to the players (their weapons ping off their armor). Or they have weapons that can penetrate the armor which will pretty much always kill the player wearing it because the power needed to penetrate the armor is overkill on t...
