Shutting down unneeded systems to free up powet is pretty much part of the setting though - if you're using weapons you can likely ship down the j-drive and cut power to unnecessary systems (halve power requirements for the basic systems),
Most ships have adequate power given that,

Re: [Pirates of Drinax] Do all stolen goods have to be fenced?
How have you handled fencing goods? Do you make your pirates fence all the goods they steal? Or only those that are traceable? For example, fencing electronics, pharmaceuticals and the like makes sense since those are manufactured, presumably have serial numbers, and are therefore traceable to thei...

Re: Starship weapons on vehicles
The example was to show no matter the size of the turret it take up 4 spaces in the ship / vehicle. For a single turret you'd take the large turret with 4 spaces in the vehicle itself, then to size the turret you'd use 1 space for the pulse laser and 1 space for the gunner. It does also stipulate t...

Re: Traveller 2nd Edition Errata
The CSC Track trait is official. I emailed Matt some time ago and he confirmed it's an omission. The trait stays. Cool - thanks, Also, can someone elaborate a little on this one: "Page 135, Vehicle Critical Hits Where results “increase hull severity”, apply a hull critical hit at the lowest level n...

Re: Starship weapons on vehicles
That's a really good point that hadn't occurred to me,Given that we can only use single turrets on small craft, it's likely that we according the quote above can only use single turrets on vehicles too.

Re: Starship weapons on vehicles
The 4 spaces is the capacity of the turret ( 3x pulse lasers = 3 spaces + 1 space for gunner station) and it only takes up 1 space in the vehicle. That seems at odds with the rules which give the weapon a minimum space count of 1 and require that you get a turret as an extra 4 spaces - arguably thi...

Re: Starship weapons on vehicles
Fixed weapons have the gun mounted on the exterior of the ship so doesn't take up internal space. That isn't how fixed mounts work in the vehicle handbook? Fixed mounts have no additional cost and consume no extra Spaces (beyond the weapons they are mounting). However, it must be specified which ar...

Starship weapons on vehicles
So, the vehicle handbook says: To place a spacecraft weapon into a vehicle, simply multiply the tonnage of the weapon by four. This is how many Spaces it will consume, to a minimum of 1 Space. Unless it is to be placed in a fixed mount, it will also need a spacecraft style turret which, at one ton o...

Re: Traveller 2nd Edition Errata
Do you revise the unofficial to official when the correction is confirmed by an editor? Or are the things marked official corrections that appear in newer PDF editions but not necessarily in print or first release PDF editions? I don't want to come across as organised or anything... I just wanted t...

Thanks all,
I found detailed errata on the forums for all of the high guard ships that I'm currently working through,

Traveller 2nd Edition Errata
I threw this together, mostly for my own use with answers from the forums, but help yourselves. If there's anything else anyone knows of I'd greatly appreciate it if you could point me in the right direction. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1KGXOR7pGnJBv-Qx_TvFbXrndZRHg9BDMNtljJrI-t58/edit?usp=sh...

Wound penalties?
The rules are a little unclear here I think, but how do people use the damage rules? As attributes are eroded by damage, does the appropriate DM erode as well? This is generally how I play? It seems a little odd that a character can have a serious DM penalty on one stat because of damage, but not ha...

Re: Heavy Fighter Computer
Yeah - doubling the price does seem a little off... A moderate computer and slightly lower spec software might keep close to the original price whilst making everything fit? Say: Computer 20, MCr 5 Evade/1 (Bandwidth 10), MCr 1 Fire Control/2 (Bandwidth 10), MCr 4 Total: MCr 9 vs. Computer 5, kCr 30...

Re: Heavy Fighter Computer
That would be my take on it,
It's TL15 so I don't see much point on skimping on a decent computer, but it's clearly priced as a cheap computer,
Either that or the software should have been downgraded,

Should the heavy fighter (HG, pg. 102) have a more powerful computer? As printed it cannot run many of the software packages included?

Re: detection rules
Looking at it, I'm starting to think that a lot of merchants will invest in "Virtual Crew/0" software for watch-keeping purposes... A lot less hassle than having a character sat at a console making a roll every turn... At MCr 1 it's a snip compared with the cost of losing a ship...

Re: Questions on small craft weapons and turrets
That's four attacks potentially launched in salvos of three - nasty for any small vessel, and as part of a wing even more so, It's four missiles per launcher, so if you can launch three missiles you have 12 missiles. Three firmpoint turrets each with one rack is three missiles per turn each with a ...

Re: Questions on small craft weapons and turrets
Right. So. Back to small craft turrets. It then follows that a missile turret on a small craft would only hold four missiles and therefore be essentially pointless. That's four attacks potentially launched in salvos of three - nasty for any small vessel, and as part of a wing even more so, Definite...
