Re: Cascade MEDIC skill?

I think I would prefer a species breakdown like Medic (Own Species) and Medic (Xeno). I realise it is not very realistic to lump Vargr and Hiver together in the one skill but I find too many cascades to be frustrating. If you wanted to achieve the same thing you could say that Medic (Xeno) is like J...

Re: Robot Characters

In a lot of cases the main way in which a robot exceeds human ability is the way you can put them in a situation where they will be destroyed with no objections from the robot and no questions from the authorities afterwards. The main attribute of robots you send in to defuse bombs or clean up toxic...

Re: Long time to travel 100D from THIS star!

There was a video that showed star sizes a few years ago. I found the creator has an updated version which includes the star under discussion here. The music on the old version is better though. :)

Re: K'Kree

With regard to tanks, I suspect the K'kree would make very extensive use of drones. They would have to use them as a proxy in situations where a human would just go in themselves. Drone tanks on the battlefield, crawlers to go in to ducts in their starship, the grav tech equivalent of quadrocopters ...

Re: State Room issue that's always bugged me

Thanks for clarifying this doesn't seem to be much of an issue for MgT. I had always assumed the reason PCs (crew basically) preferred not to share was privacy and was going to have a look in the rules to see what I missed. This is what I think the reference to captains 'insisting' on it refers to b...

Re: Is Jump Control Software basically autopilot?

Somehow I don't see software dealers just giving away jump control especially higher level jumps. Should ships be given free software upgrades if they replace their jump drive with a better one? I don't know. When you buy a new Ford does the dealer hit you with costs for the engine management softw...

Re: How to describe his abilities?

I consider the stat component of a skill check to be the character's raw talent and the skill part to be their training. Someone with Medic 1 and an EDU DM+3 could be thought of as a person who came out of med school a far better doctor than the average student. They worked long hours, they finagled...

Re: Core Rule Question

I don't really see this as a major issue. I always considered these example time frames, certainly the ones for repairs, to be nothing more than guidelines. I think there is a huge variation in how much effort is required to fix a non-functional drive. If they all said exactly the same thing it migh...

Re: How Deep Can I Go?

Contrary to a previous poster I think the hull profile is far more important than the armour rating. I don't think the amount of heavy armour designed to prevent damage inflicted by weapons necessarily relates to the amount of pressure the hull can take. However I think we can assume that am armoure...

[Judge Dredd] Justice Department logo

I've been looking for a logo I can add to handouts and any character sheet I might create for my MgT2 conversion. I couldn't find one I really like when I searched for images online but I did like the one in the Judges Handbook which was in an picture at a funny angle, small and blurry. I finally go...

Re: Question about learning Psionics

To piggy-back on the psionic questions here, I have one. Can you learn new psionic skills using the Post Career Education rules? Or are the skills only for those talents you successfully learned? I agree with IegoZhodani that this is basically up to you. My feeling would be that I'd prefer to stop ...

Re: Question about learning Psionics

I posted a reply to this a few days ago but it seems to have been eaten. Thanks AnotherDilbert, that is exactly what I wanted. I didn't read the rules well enough so sorry for the foolish question. I don't usually use psionics but I was generating characters for Judge Dredd where those rules are mor...

Question about learning Psionics

I'm a little confused by the way a player gains psionic talents, particularly in relation to the learning roll. This is what is says on p196 as the start of the Psionics chapyer. Training requires four months of work, and costs Cr100000. As part of training, the Traveller may attempt to learn any of...

Re: Orbis Light Fighter: reworked

The fact that this would not be good use of the space inside the carrier was the first thing that occurred to me too, however here are a few things that could counter that. First of all each fighter could be turned 90 degrees relative to the next one in line. This would allow them to fit together a ...

Re: Daring To Change: Innovation In The Third Imperium

It seems like you want a constantly evolving game and you are not happy with just doing that yourself, you want this to be 'official'. Other games have done this, for example White Wolf with Vampire. Things changed the background as they produced new books and while that was interesting it also had ...

Re: [JBE] Rusted Fang Station

Perhaps it spent some time in a cloud of some sort that either allowed the hull to react or more likely just stained it. For example, orbiting in a low density ring still meant that over time a lot of particles impacted the hull and left stains. Alternatively perhaps it leaks fluids and/or gasses an...

Also note Fahrenheit 451 would be a fairly obscure book 2,300 years from now, academically it would be in the niche of ancient Solomani Philosophy. Probably, however it is possible that some old literature becomes resurgent and gets very popular, either because it turns out to be very relevant to s...

This would be an enormous change. Why go dozens of parsecs to find another high industrial, high population, perfectly habitable planet when you can jump to the one you are currently at in the dimension next door. If I were do to this I would limit it to just a single alternative to reduce the infor...
