Re: Firing with a scope...modifer?

Trait Scope, Core, p75. Basically you get a range bonus, not a DM to attack.

Re: Great White Fleets... in spaaaayyyccceeee!

Wasn't the Azhanti the show off ship for some time? It displays a diversity of offensive firepower in a small package saying "You think this impressive? I fail to see anything impressive about the AHL, it's near complete lack of defences makes it not a combat unit, but a scouting unit (just like th...

Re: Great White Fleets... in spaaaayyyccceeee!

It's not size that is impressive, it's concentrated combat power that is impressive. A few small, out-dated (pre-dreadnought) battleships wasn't all that impressive, but the numbers and ability to deploy them on the other side of the globe was impressive (to anyone but the Royal Navy). Today a tour ...

Nothing stops you from building your entire fleet with "prototype" systems. It's just very expensive.

2 kg is too light? A regular shotgun is 4 kg, and the major difference is the shell fired. Too low weight also increases recoil, which is exactly what we want to avoid.

Which is perfectly acceptable in the current systems (MgT2, T5) with prototype drives.

Re: Accelerator shotguns?

Why not just a laser?

The enemy presumably wears a vacc suit with armour about 10, making small pellet and fragmentation attacks ineffective.

Re: Ship Design Philosophy

Anything that has a cost based on a percentage of hull cost is going to be cheesy when applied to planetoids due to their low hull cost. Breakaway hulls and armor come to mind. No cheese with breakaway; cost isn't proportional to hull cost. Low cost of armoured planetoids is intended, unfortunately...

The Darrians has not had any TL-16 industry for about 2000 years.

Their industrial base was destroyed when their star misbehaved in -924.

Re: Putting a self sufficient fighting force in a strange land

The Imperial standard ACR - the Imperium insists on standardisation across the empire in order to simplify the supply chain. An ACR purchased of Regina will quite happily use spare parts and fire ammo purchased on Efate, or even Terra for that matter. Bah, a Delgado model Fusil modelo 487 ACR is no...

Re: Accelerator shotguns?

5D is too much damage and armour penetration, same as an Anti-Materiel Rifle, better than a HMG. The Accelerator Rifle is the same damage as a regular rifle. So perhaps 4D damage, same as a regular shotgun? Many small low energy impactors should have less penetration than a .50 cal bullet, so perhap...

Re: Repairs, Maintenance, and Construction

So, "Armor-15, bridge, model-9, agility-6, " is not happening under 100 Dt. Percentages: Armour: 16%, Bridge: 20%, Agility-6: 17%(man)+6%(power)+6%(fuel) = 65%. Tonnages: Computer: 13(comp)+12(power)+12(fuel), Turret: 1 = 47 Dton. Minimum size: 47 / ( 1 - 65% ) ≈ 134.3 Dton. This is of course only ...

Re: Repairs, Maintenance, and Construction

I'm sorry, but I'm not having this. If the gun's still active at full +DM, you ain't neutralised it. Sure, but what are you going to hit? A fighter can't hit fighters, and can't penetrate dampers (everything else). The point of fighters is that they are very difficult to hit? Technically you're rig...

Re: Repairs, Maintenance, and Construction

I fear it's a mistake to include maneuver hits as a "mission kill". (1) It's still fully armed! (2) It's -agility to hit, and not -relative agility. No manoeuvre drive, no agility => trivial to hit, so dead next round. Agility is the ability of a ship to make violent maneuvers and take evasive acti...

Re: Repairs, Maintenance, and Construction

That seems very specific, so I assume you got the chart out? Yes, always. I did the same and I make it 11/36 to disable. The following rolls will prevent it attacking (the condition i originally gave for "disable"): 2d6 - 2 vaporised; 4 computer; 9 powerplant; 10 crew; 11 fire/control (50% to hit s...

Re: Repairs, Maintenance, and Construction

I don't recall any of us ever using a meson larger than J in our TCS. Meson J is not all that much larger, but significantly better at penetrating. It is certainly a possibility. You're right that adding nice things like agility to a ship makes them better but it's sometimes surprising how the numb...

Re: Repairs, Maintenance, and Construction

As far as I understand resumed F-22 production is not under consideration. The alternative is the F-35. The F-35 is slower, have shorter range, less powerful radar, and lower payload (if the public stats are correct), but is much more expensive. Stealth costs. The F-35 can't supercruise either (if p...
