Re: What is the deal of decoy missiles?
Note that the "Decoy Missile" contains decoys and a weaker warhead, it is not a decoy in itself. If you fire a turret (3 missiles) against a Free Trader with a laser turret, it might kill 2 missiles with PD, 1 missile attacks. If you fired Decoy Missiles instead of regular missiles the DM -2 to PD w...

Quite, they can defeat PD, but not armour.
Might be good for shooting at a Free Trader with a laser turret or two?

Re: Star Princess-class
I might suggest something like this: 700 Dt, J-3, M-2, 15 passenger staterooms, 200 Dt cargo. 140 Dt fuel in cargo/fuel containers so you can ship more cargo for shorter jumps. Collapsible tanks for another J-3. External cargo mounts for 350 Dt (max J-2). Budget drives and hull. Half the cost of you...

Re: Star Princess-class
As a tramp freighter you will traffic fly-over country, that basically has no other service. If there are any high passengers they will have to book with you. You do not compete with luxury liners on the major trade routes. I would use a M-2 drive to make sure the ship can land anywhere. It's fairly...

Re: Cargo crane & loading belt
We have no details.
I imagine the cargo crane is for large, heavy objects whereas the loading belt (conveyor belt?) is for smaller objects.

Re: Can a streamlined ship go underwater ?
I am still interested in how you define antigrav and contragrav to be different systems. Which rule set are you pulling this from? Anti-grav is defined in MT and T5, used in CT and MgT. Contra-grav is defined in TNE. As already stated in this thread: Anti-grav drives provides lift and propulsion (l...

Re: Fuel for Vehicles
I'm struggling to find any info in the core rule book on Vehicle fuel. Cost and type. I would say it depends on the world and the application. The design system for vehicles is note very detailed, the fuel type is very much left up the Referee. We know that with current technology we can build moto...

Most vehicles have a size in the span 0.1 - 2 Dt per Space, so that is not exactly the only conversion between Spaces and Dt.baithammer wrote: ↑ HG 2ed, so yes mass equals displacement for game purposes.

Deciding exactly which rooms to divide the available space into and how big they should be is something for the deck-plan design.

Re: Dogfight rules
I'm a bit confused by the dogfighting rules. We all are... 1. If initiating a dogfight is a substantial action, how does a fighter pilot actually attack? Isn't their action used by the dogfighting (unless they didn't initiate the dogfight). Dogfighting starts automatically as soon as you are close ...

Re: adding a simple opportunity fire
I agree that you should not allow more major actions.
You can allow everyones next major action against the temporarily uncovered character to be without cover DM, basically the shot happened when he was running.

Re: Missiles auto-loader?
One Space is supposed to be 250 kg, so four spaces are 1000 kg = 1 tonne, not 1 Dt = 14 m³. Not directly comparable.baithammer wrote: ↑ Four spaces are equal to 1 dt.

Re: Passage and Freight Costs table
From the top of my head - calculate costs for an optimized ship for specific kind of transport - (freighter or liner) with sizes from 100 to ... ? and see what is the minimum cost. It can be some sort of a baseline. This is what Aramis has already done, if I understand correctly. Like him we will m...

Re: House rules for space combat
Dogfighting: The dogfighting replaces the Attack Step [p154] of the space combat round, and only the Attack Step, not the entire Round. Dogfighting does not include a Manoeuvre Step. We cannot move away from the dogfight. Dogfighting does not include an Action Step So instead of 1. Manœuvre Step 2....

Re: House rules for space combat
Sensor tasks get a negative DM equal to half the attack DM for range (e.g. -2 at very Long).
You get one chance to detect a ship per range-band it gets closer.

Re: Missiles auto-loader?
I'm going by the 12 missile per 1Dton. Though I'm not sure if the 12 missiles per ton changed. Looking at the V2 CRB it states that each turret can hold one or more missile racks, and it holds 12 missiles (apparently regardless of the number of missile racks). HG says 12 missiles per missile rack, ...

Just because you finance the ship differently does not magically remove capital costs. The megacorp has to explain to ...

Re: Passage and Freight Costs table
Not as simple as that as every increase in jump drive requires not just an increase in power plant but in fuel carried - and thus a reduction in available space for cargo and revenues. Quite, but most secondary effects are small, basically the jump drive cost money and the fuel cost space. Either w...
