Re: The futility of Pirates of Drinax?

Well, according to The Encyclopedia Galactica, Drinax doesn't fall again until 1119. That would give the players a good amount of time to have their fun, drink a cup of tea, and mosey on to the next adventure before the proverbial litterbox was tipped over. That is, if you believe in psychohistory a...

Re: High Guard Spreadsheet

Is there an "official ship construction sheet" that can be used in PDF form? Even that would make building your own ships easier.

Re: Significant Others In Traveller

You're right. No. I'm not interested. I'm so not interested that if this even gets offered as an optional rule that I'll go look for another system. No, in my 38 years of gaming I've NEVER once seen someone want to role play and live out the humdrum-boring, oh my god I want to kill my self, style o...

Re: Significant Others In Traveller

Ok, both of you need to stop. Alex, as a moderator you should know when you are being trolled. Let it go. And Synther, in my 37 years I have seen several times when Players wanted to have either NPCs or other PCs be played as if they were in a relationship beyond that found in just contacts or alli...

Re: Significant Others In Traveller

That's not what the S.O. role is about, and frankly, you are aware of this too, which makes your attitude one of antagonism for its own sake. Significant Others Come With Obligations Your Traveller might not like having his S.O. around, demanding a long evening of wine and cuddles when he wants to ...

Re: Significant Others In Traveller

My style of game Everybody has a style of game. This is for people who are happy to expand their repertoire beyond shooting people, heists, piracy, warfare or dungeon delving. Funny how some people always assume that just because they don't like meat, nobody else should be allowed to try eating mea...

My style of game: "Sweat ran down the side of Tamar's face inside his helmet. He eyed the corridor cautiously and checked the heads-up-display. The H.U.D. read that he had 30 minutes of oxygen left. 'More than enough to take care of this thing,' he thought. Suddenly, his motion tracker started to sh...

Re: Significant Others In Traveller

I don't really see a point to having these rules. That is not my problem. You'll gain experience. Hopefully without having to slay kobolds in order to do so. It ain't all buttons and charts, little albatross. A significant other could easily fall under Contacts/Allies/Enemies and should be handled ...

I don't really see a point to having these rules. A significant other could easily fall under Contacts/Allies/Enemies and should be handled through regular role play. There's absolutely no need to carve this kind of thing into stone.

Re: Generation ships not from us

I was actually watching an old episode of Space: 1999 (late Series 1) and came up with an idea for my group to run into an old, decrepit, generation ship from another species. Does one part of the population prey on the other part? I'm not sure yet. Its still just a tickle in the back of my head. M...

Prophecy and oracles need interpretation and can be misunderstood. Precognition means the Dungeon Master has to figure out how he wants the story to go. AMEN! I laughed reading this! "Oh man! This guy just rolled a crit on precog. What do I have going on four rooms down and how do I want this to go...

Re: How to make part 6 a challenge part 2

If a player is manipulating the GM because they're in a relationship...that's just a bad GM. Period. There's no real way around saying that. My wife is the captain of our group and I don't pull any punches. If the players do something stupid, I'm perfectly happy killing one of them, including her. T...

Re: What constitutes a pirate in Traveller?

Historically speaking, being called a pirate depended heavily on two things: What you called yourself and what the various governments operating in the area called you. One government may call you a privateer because you have a writ of marque. Another would call you a pirate. And yet a third might c...

Well, I was successful and may have created a monster. My wife, who is very sweet and wouldn't hurt a fly in real life, is the captain of our little group. She succeeded in negotiating a deal with Hroal Irontooth and Petyr Vallis to join her own small pirate fleet and openly attack a GeDeCo trade co...

Hmm...maybe.....NAAWW! Actually, this weeks adventure will have some pretty big rewards but they're going to have to work pretty hard at the old ultra violence.
