Re: Traveller 2nd Edition Errata

The CSC Track trait is official. I emailed Matt some time ago and he confirmed it's an omission. The trait stays. Also, can someone elaborate a little on this one: "Page 135, Vehicle Critical Hits Where results “increase hull severity”, apply a hull critical hit at the lowest level not yet applied.....

Re: Combat Arm - Overpowered?

I will repeat what others said. Purely by game rules, it is damn overpowered, both as net effect and listed price. But traveller was never a game to be played purely by game rules (at least classic and mgt). What the other people here said makes a lot of sense. For a year, I train with weights, most...

Re: Traveller Companion

It's a book mostly full of rules. Even if we wait for a bit more, I would prefer it polished rather than having flaws cause by hurrying up.

Re: Combat in darkness

Which edition? The 2nd doesn't state a specific penalty (or at least I didn't find any).

In low-vision I would impose bane.
In no vision, I would impose chance to miss (1-5 out of 6) and -2 to hit (as if the target is hiding), in case of a hit. Of course, no aiming.

Re: Hull design choices and some random suggestions.

A comment from the authors stated that High Guard is not meant to be fully balanced, as the availability of the options written there isn't limited (except perhaps for TL), thus a referee should be careful when granting anything from the book. Some options are clearly better than others. Of course, ...

Re: Anti Vehicle Weapon Damage

RAW it takes ~80.

You can make up a rule that a torpedo hit can open a hole and the ship starts to sink with the speed of sinking = the damage taken from the torpedos, or something like it.

Unfortunately, my experience with torpedoes is only the film "Das boot"

Re: Dodging

To add something
He pointed out that the skills athletics allows you to add it's rating to your Dex.
Use this with caution. It means when a Characteristic check is called, so it will not apply to any other skill used with Dex (i.e. you don't add athletics to your gun combat)

It's not entirely clear how those work. Keeping in mind their outstanding effect, I would rule a variety of ways to counter/reduce their effect. edit: including your idea.

Re: Beta critique: Element: travele4.pdf: Concentric Attack

Quite the punch!

It's not clear whether the operator is busy during the setup time + the flight time.
Also, this is a stretch, but are the launchers busy during the D3 time.

Re: Missiles auto-loader?

To my understanding a single suite of sensors is enough to fill all sensor stations and operators. I.e. even if you have 50 operators, each with a station, they can perform sensor checks. edit: although not specifically noted, I rule that a single lock/break lock action can be done by a ship against...

If there is a cost, it's lower than the modular hull (or it should be)

According to the text, it takes a few weeks to attach/detach the pod back to the cruiser.

Re: Beta critique: Element: travele4.pdf: Multimode Decoy

Yeah, I agree the operator needs to spend time to configure/operate the decoy. As a side effect, this whole thing can make sensor operator's work more interesting. They will have limited time and might (unless the ship has 231231 sensor stations) need to chose actions - lock; break lock; EW missiles...

Will that be sufficient? The net will be -4 more compared to the current. (now is -2 from beyond short; -2 more from to Difficult and -2 more from long range)
