Re: Prevalence of military vets among PCs

Scouts, Rogues and Agents predominate in our games. We see about 30% straight up military characters. But we play an old school OTU where the Imperium is the jackbooted oppressor. Also we use the Spica Publishing career books from 1e, where the Space Patrol (we call it System Patrol, or SysPat, or j...

Re: Help Needed on Cold Weather Gear

"Everyone has to make a whole bunch of the same roll over and over just to get one thing done" was a very common feature of adventure writing from decades ago (and not just for Traveller), but it's rarely done now. ... End result: you can't make this part exciting. My players did indeed simply wear...

Re: NASA SpaceX Launch

Not to brag, but if Saturday’s launch is a go, I’ll be watching from a boat a few miles from the launch pad. Very excited! Dude. So jealous. I’m in New Orleans, when Thursday’s launch got scrubbed I started seriously thinking about a little road trip to photograph the next launch attempt... Whether...

Re: Trepida Grav Tank

And I’m looking hard at the Gatling Laser for the commander’s anti-personnel weapon (I know, not canon but seems like an oversight to me). The main gun is supposed to be auto-fire, and could, in MT, handle battle dress infantry with ease. Unfortunately MgT doesn't have much in the way of rapid fire...

Just realized the Gatling Laser is almost twice the tonnage of a Fusion Gun-Y. Never mind

Re: Trepida Grav Tank

Great idea, paltrysum. Something fun to do while I’m watching the NASA launch, cheers! Flipping thru VH and CSC, not seeing anything comparable to the main armament; doesn’t seem to be a rapid fire fusion gun available in MgT 2e. The Fusion Gun-Y is TL14 but has no Auto trait. I think Rocket Pods (C...

Re: What damages can be expected after interior exposure to vacuum?

What happens to somebody that is ejected from the ship in jump space? Are they stuck in the jump bubble and travel with the ship or do they just get dropped into normal space? I'm new to Traveller so I don't know if this has been covered or not. Welcome! I’m vaguely remembering there was a sidebar ...

Re: MgT2e Sensor Types

@Matt - So something like the passive EMS from the MT World builders handbook p. 10 would be available as start of the Basic sensors? Are there rules for long range like a parasec away sensor readings for like exploration? The Great Rift supplement has rules for deep space exploration. Haven’t seen...

Re: The Beyond: A Revision

Such great work! I really hope the Powers That Be take notice and consider all your efforts. Love the Mule, I've been having fun for a while now re-imagining and re-purposing small craft. A few years ago I had an Agent that had a super tricked out 20 ton launch. Interplanetary RV with a hidden compa...

Re: a campaign based on Arbellatra?

I think that a linked series of adventures based around Grand Admiral Arbellatra defeating the Out-World Coalition in the Second Frontier War and her going to Capital to defeat the current Barracks Emperor would make for an epic level campaign. Great idea. It could potentially be run, all or in par...

Re: Spying on the Zhodani

I'd infiltrate robots to get human intelligence. Interesting choice, skin jobs are definitely possible. But wouldn't they be quite obvious to Zhodani, since they don't give any return, when telepathy is used on them? Warbots are historically a big part of Zhodani military operations. I wonder if ro...

Re: JTAS 3 & the LSP Modular Cutter modules

Thanks again. I suspect the JTAS article has more - and more imaginative - modules than I presented in my quick pass. My idea was to take a cargo module as a baseline, then apply a 10% or 25% increase in price to allow for more capabilities. I expect the costs I presented would change a bit as, for ...

Reynard, thanks for the reference. I figured there was already a solid write-up but wasn't sure where to find it.

Same here as regarding design.

Snrdg121408, thank you for the kind words upthread but it seems Mongoose have beaten me to it. I should look into getting the new JTAS Vol 3.

5 Dt is a lot for a small craft, to much to write off at a whim.

I would let capacity be 25 Dt cargo respective 30 Dt fuel.
Good point. Was just roughing things in, will take a closer look in a bit. Cheers

Re: Modular Cutter: What do modules cost?

Check this out... Standard Imperial 30 dton Cutter Modules Basic Cargo Module Base Cost of MCr1.5 provides a sealed container, much like today's shipping containers. It is inaccessible to the crew of the Cutter and must be loaded and unloaded elsewhere but allows a full 30 dtons to be carried. Worki...

Me, no, all good but thank you. I’ve been having a blast doing new ships from the ground up for my non-OTU game. Doing it old skool, pencils and graph paper ;)
