I just noticed a mistake in the Slug Throwers chapter.
The Gauss Rifle on page 118 is listed as TL 12 when it should be TL 13.
Source: Page 120 says that it "replaces riles at TL 13" and the Gauss Pistol is TL 13.

Using optional MGT1 careers in MGT2
There are a lot of optional careers in MGT1 (e.g. Book 6 Scoundrel). What changes, other than skill names, would you make when porting them to MGT2?

Re: [GK Games] Coming soon!
P.S. Your website sucks. Clicking on the products shouldn't show me the cover art, it should actually tell me what the product is.

Law level and Tech Level
In 1st edition, the law level prohibited goods based on tech level. Is that rule completely gone in 2nd edition?

Law level for augments?
Is there a list of law levels for augments?
I'm assuming that high law worlds aren't going to let people run around with strength boosters and subdermal armor.

Retired characters?
Let's say you have a NPC that retired at 50 (maybe an aging crisis) but is now 62. What happens during that time?
Anyone feel like making a career chart for retired terms?

Re: Speculative Trading is too stable
Hello pirates. And what's the deal with that abandoned ship? What do you mean "improper handling fee"? Yes, yes, I understand that you're upset that your friend the broker died. But did he sign our delivery chit yet? A three-week layover while we wait for the cargo to arrive? I guess we've got time ...

Re: Outbreak of War Pre-Career Event
I could see it happening. If you enroll in a planetary military academy and the Imperium decides they need you, the planet doesn't have much recourse. Or perhaps the academy itself was attacked by rebels or an invading army. (A common theme in the anime I've been watching lately.) And someone who en...

Re: Pensions
Retiring at 48 isn't a great idea, as the pension will still be less than your cost of living. It's more like a small retirement fund at that point.

Re: Number of passengers and freight available
Yea, that is weird. I quite liked the old rules where is was influenced by the destination. I shouldn't be able to pick up a boat of travelers heading towards an asteroid mining camp with a current population of 20.

Re: Speculative Trading is too stable
Hiring brokers is broken in my opinion. You shouldn't be able to get a guaranteed high skill broker. You can't, they are randomised. Have you seen the revised rules? No, I didn't notice that they changed that. It's actually pretty close to my suggestion, but I didn't think to make the cost steeper ...

Re: Life Events
I agree on both accounts. I want a much larger life events table and roll on it every term in addition to the normal event/mishap roll.
Re: Pensions
I am of mixed feelings about that. In theory you could do something like Rank+Terms, but also keep in mind that a high rank also gets bonuses to all his roles for cash and goods. That means he is more likely to get ship shares, which are directly usable or convertible into a larger pension.

Agreed. But to be fair, I think they are going in the right direction with the changes in the newest draft.Wizard wrote: For something that is in the core rulebook, that confusion shouldn't exist, and I believe it should be clarified.

I think that's what makes it interesting. If you want safe, haul freight.PsiTraveller wrote:Well if it is too unstable and cannot be counted on to cover costs for making a run then nobody would do it, it would not be worth the risk.

Re: Should Boon/Bane be moved to the Companion?
To continue my though, a Boon should be given in part for role-playing. For example, having the exact right part to fix a faulty M-drive is a difficulty reduction. Relating how this is the exact same type of ship you worked on during your career as a Merchant/Free Trader is a Boon. Conversely, Banes...
