Re: TL 14 Collectors In High Guard
So what it seems to be coming down to now is that the problem isn't with Collectors/accumulators as a concept... but more that it's an issue with the Hydrogen bubble based description of the jump travel that Mongoose has proppogated over the 2 editions. Seems if we were working with a Jump Grid or M...

Re: Synchronized Jumps
"To synchronise a jump, every ship taking part must have a crew member succeed at a Difficult (10+) Engineer jump drive) check (1D rounds, INT or EDU). If one ship fails in this check, then it may not join in the synchronised jump. If this happens, the admiral may choose to jump without it or give ...
Re: Bwaps
Seconded, I can't find anything for "Bwarp"(as it was mentioned above) that makes any sense either. so an explanation would be nice.Reynard wrote:Just so I'm up to speed and because a search turns up nothing relevant to gaming, what is bwap?

Re: TL 14 Collectors In High Guard
Collectors, plus the space folding drive. The space folding drive doesn't use fuel, just power so it's usefullness as an alternative to fuel is mute. I would imagine in most cases the size of the collectors wouldn't be larger than the extra size for the power plant to provide the power needed for t...

Re: TL 14 Collectors In High Guard
I don't think anyone's addressed the nature of these "exotic particles" that are being collected? In Annic Nova it says it's a "stellar collector". On pg17 it says "The canopy collects radiated stellar power and stores it in the accumulators on the drive deck". So whatever they are seems to origina...

Re: TL 14 Collectors In High Guard
damnit... Just saw my collector mistake... The Breakaway section with the collectors seems like a pretty good idea. EDIT: I just now saw that your tug has 3 Clamps... and it dawned on me that thing can pull 6k tons of cargo/ships at J-1 in that config... It might be a bit slow but for it's size it's...

Re: TL 14 Collectors In High Guard
Nice application! Battle Tenders would work well at this as well. Any heavy lift really. Oversize the Collector to match the Jump Drive. So you 400 Ton ship with staterooms and living space has Jump Drive and Collector sized for a 1000 or 2000 movement. Add in a Docking Clamp and you haul large SDB...

Re: TL 14 Collectors In High Guard
I think the place that Collectors can really shine is with jump shuttles.
Small ships that are mostly jump drive and collectors that just need to be able to clamp onto bigger ships.

High Guard Errors: Bridge Sizes
So while I was looking at some of the ships in High Guard this evening I noticed that the Bridge for the Close Escort (p. 131) is listed as being 10 Tons. Where as this size (400 Tons) of ship requires a 20 Ton bridge otherwise it should be listed as small like with the Fleet courier and as such off...

Re: TL 14 Collectors In High Guard
I think folks need to take a step back and realise, as Matthew has stated before, Canon is what Marc (and whomever is part of that crew) want. As designer, contributor, whatever - when you are told "X is canon" - thats what you go with. It's not about You reading every single source of canon, becau...

Re: Study Period and the character sheet
The first _ is the number of weeks you have studied. The second is the total number of weeks you need to study. Eg: 3/8, I have studied 3 weeks of my required 8 to get my Gun Combat skill from 0 to 1. 6/16, I have studied 6 weeks of my required 16 to get my Gun Combat skill from 2 to 3 At least tha...

Re: TL 14 Collectors In High Guard
Correct, not intended for the Third Imperium setting. The only ship using it is the Annic Nova, and that was needed in order to do the ship in the new version. Are these non-3I technologies clearly defined as such in High Guard? Yes, they are listed in the 'High Technology' Chapter, which contains ...

Re: Space Stations
Yea, I've already designed two space stations . At one point, I had to stop (and go to the day job :( ) and came back to it. I accidentally turned to the ship rules and figured out why a few things didn't make sense. Finally I figured out I was in the wrong section and everything was alright again....

Re: 1e to 2e: Ship Conversion
Did you remember to add common areas? THat was where I first fell short. In 1E they are taken as just there where as in 2E you need to put the space aside based on your stateroom allocation. Not exactly, you still get the same allocation in terms of 4 tons per stateroom, deck plan wise those are us...

Re: 1e to 2e: Ship Conversion
Since I participated in the beta, I knew that the ship designs were changing drastically. And I knew that there was no way that all the ships from 1e could be represented in the new High Guard. After all there are details of ships in Book 3 - Scout, Book 6 - Scoundrel, all of the Alien modules, Tra...
