Law levels might be less tolerant of greater ranged stun weapons.

They may count as energy weapons.
Want to run the logic by me where a non lethal device is going to be less tolerated than something that is lethal?

Re: Improving characteristics during play

MegaTraveller had Instruction, was usable for every skill, not just combat. The teacher had to have instruction and the skill being taught IIRC.

Re: Improving characteristics during play

I would limit social standing increases to 10 maximum, Nobility requires notice and elevation. At least, that's how I see it.

Re: Improving characteristics during play

Thanks for your fast response. By any chance did you have any thoughts on the subject? What if, by some chance, I happen to be the referee, looking for rough guidelines? As a Referee, I don't hand out improvements to player's characters. If you want to hand that stuff out, then you must have an ide...

Re: Improving characteristics during play

Thanks, Hiro, that's pretty much how I was leaning, although I had not thought of any potential maximums beyond the standard racial maximums, which would take years to reach.

Improving characteristics during play

How can characteristics be improved during play? 8 weeks intensive exercise/study per level of characteristic as if it were a skill?

What about social standing, if you maintain expenses above your standing can you raise your social standing to A?

Re: Strend

Several worlds including Strend and Theev were downgraded as part of the T5 project. In the second edition mongoose traveller book Pirates of Drinax: Theev cluster, Theev has likewise been downgraded to Tl 14. AFAIK Travellermap.com is the official canon. perhaps Matt can weigh in on this.

Re: Ship Design Philosophy

How do you change your own nappy? (Diaper I think you might call them). I guess you're plumbed into the suit and there's an option to expel waste fluids/solids. More advanced suits might recycle/reuse human waste. Mmm, that's chewy... Life in a suit with no physical contact might increase the chanc...

I was under the possibly incorrect impression that docking space provided vehicle support such as refueling and maintenance and such.

A tail-sitter; that fits well with the Traveller canon. Reminds me of a scoutship version of the old Type C Mercenary Cruiser. Care to share any of the deckplans? He is sharing the deck plans, LOL. It's a product available very reasonably priced at the link provided. I'll be buying a copy shortly.

Re: Hardened Systems, Highguard 2e

So hardening protects against Nuclear/Stellar EMP then? Good. Except now I'm back to wondering why 3I Navy ships are not hardened... /shrug They don't need to be as far as Ion weapons go as they aren't part of the Third Imperium setting. No, but nukes and stellar flares sure are. I'd expect the Dar...

No one bats an eye if ships' lockers are equipped with shotguns and autopistols, or even assault rifles.

Advanced combat rifles might.
And for those weapons that might cause a twitch or three, how might one go about getting legal sanction for?

Re: Mercenary Accreditation and Weapons permits

It might be worth looking at how PMCs work now. By and large, they're operating in jurisdictions that are considered war zones to a greater or lesser extent, so local laws within (say) Europe or the U.S.A. aren't relevant. If you took your M4 back home with you I imagine that Customs would probably...

Hardened Systems, Highguard 2e

Page 46, Hardened Systems. Would this protect against EMP as well as Ion? How are EMP effects implemented in Traveller, anyway? Are there rules somewhere?
