Re: Secret Societies cards

Thank-you. I have a history of creating new secret societies (and mandatory bonus duties, for that matter), so I just want to make sure I know the ramifications of my meddling. :)

Re: Secret Societies cards

Aside from initially allowing players to randomly draw their secret society card, is there any mechanical advantage to using cards for this? As far as I can tell they never get used in combat, though I suppose players don't know this. I have a rotating group of players, and for many of them it will ...

Re: DAIV Card

The "upload worm" bot glitch card seems like a good template for this. Will we be able to buy blank print-on-demand bot glitch cards?

AugMem (GM Thread)

Have any of you GMs done anything interesting with AugMem limits? It looks like something that at least one of my players will pour his XP Points into in order to gain more, but there doesn't seem to be any actual benefit. Depending on which resource you read, AugMem seems to only be available if yo...

Paranoia Streams/Let's Play

Have there been any videos of the new rules set posted? I've searched but have only found old-rules games.

DAIV Card

Is there a good way to give a player a card for a DAIV they could theoretically use in combat to infect someone? Should I give them an equipment card?

Re: Arguments against Clone Immortality

I absolutely agree that the Computer's decision makes no sense. I'll go further and say that everything that you've posted in this thread seems very logical to me. My point is that the Computer's perspective on this is that each clone is a legally-distinct person who, for whatever nonsensical reason...

Re: What do Troubleshooter jumpsuits protect against?

This could be a feature instead of a bug. The players think that their jumpsuits protect them against laser fire of the same colour, but the game masters know differently.

Re: New Paranoia NPC Question

What about moxie? Would the average NPC have more than one point of moxie? I recognize there aren't game mechanics for it, but how close are the citizens of Alpha Complex to going insane at any given time?

Re: Cthulhu?

Maybe I'll make an equipment card with a high initiative number that just automatically does one point of moxie damage, but every time the card is revealed it deals one point of moxie damage to its user. My thought is that he'll want to use the high number (8?) a lot, but people around the table wil...

Cthulhu?

One of my PCs is going to be an agent from another Alpha Complex. I thought it would be fun to give him a secret society that didn't exist in the current Complex with orders to recruit members, and my thought is that he's going to be a Cthulhu cultist. Have any of you done this before? Should I give...

Re: Arguments against Clone Immortality

Obviously any GM can do anything at all, but in the rules as written it seems pretty clear: "It is important to notice that the new clone body is a legally distinct entity from the previous, dead clone, and that aberrations in the genetic template caused by terrorist intervention (including but not ...

Re: Clone origins

Whatever the method, it certainly allows for a lot of mutations to enter the gene pool. I've always felt like the computer makes up new clone DNA based on existing clones. Wasn't there a bit in the old XP-era Underplex book where some pre-apocalypse humans were stored in cryo-storage and they weren'...

I think that Friend Computer is with Lem, since the new clone is no longer considered guilty of any treason committed by the previous clone. Or am I missing your point?

Re: Paranoia on Twitch - 11/17 at 6:30pm PST

I hope that went well for you! I ran a Paranoia game on Twitch last summer and it never occurred to me to post here about it. Is it preferred that we ask permission here before running stuff on-line? Is there some sort of OGL or similar? What's the process if we want to distribute our game materials...

Agreed, but I wish they'd still sell the pdf. It's been a long time since they published any edition of Paranoia. I know they keep saying that another edition is "soon", but they've been saying that for a long time.

Re: Why is a hard copy of The Little RED Book so much?

I'm in the same boat (have XP, want Troubleshooters). I know that they want to promote their upcoming Paranoia card game, and I've pre-ordered, but I think I'll always be more of a dice chucker than a card flopper at heart and so I'd love to throw Mongoose some money for a pdf or two. (I'll certainl...

Ultimately, I think Paranoia's dramatic tension comes from the futility of the Troubleshooter's situation. No matter how hard you try the bottom line is your character is a mutant traitorous secret society member with a secondary assignment to kill one or more of your fellow Troubleshooters, who, s...

My copy seems to be missing several illustrations. In their place is a description of what the illustration would be. I've found these on pp. 36, 37, and 47 so far. I bought a copy of Service, Service! this week and I have the same descriptions in those places. Also, the bookmarks in the pdf don't ...
