Re: Solomani Confederation (Military)

Wafer tech requires a person in the cockpit... Misunderstanding. Condottiere thought you meant wafer jacking the pilots from the Carrier and running the fighters as human linked drones. You mean wafer jacking the pilot in the cockpit with flight programs so they can skip training and just get the s...

Re: Key Deck Plan Design Considerations

Right, forgot about common areas and the like. Hmm. What about the bridge? Isn't that taking up 10/20/whatever dtons of space for the control of the ship? 10 dtons on a free trader is a large area for maybe 3 or 4 pepole (pilot, copilot, sensors/comms, gunnery if assuming RC turrets) to sit and work...

Re: Key Deck Plan Design Considerations

If a fourth of the tonnage of a stateroom is dedicated to life support (reasonable for something keeping you alive), I just checked my PDF of my 1e core, and that is already taken from the floorspace of staterooms (at least for the type-a, only 3 dtons shown on the map) its just not allocated anywhe...

Re: Marines and Point Defense.

If you want to board, I guess the only option is to either shoot the turrets offline and find a way to stop the engines (EMP, power plant hits, m-drive hits).

A ion gun could power down a ship and leave it for you to board safely. Until the power came back on.

Re: WotC joining forces with Player-publishers

It acts as a kind of filter from the "stuff people make", to the "stuff people endorse". The problem with Steams thing was that anyone could make anything and sell for profit (well, not quite now with steam refunds, but hey) with zero oversight. Or so my console peasant mind has gathered. That's wha...

Well. Guess we haves an ansible now.

If it is real, and can be used, then I imagine it would cut down extremely on any communication lag.

Re: Millennium Falcon (Traveller version)

Considering how casual space travel is in the star wars universe, the falcon could definitely fall under freighter. At least there. If some bloke on Tatooine wants a restock of whatever, you could load up enough on the falcon and her type to restock a couple stores. The analogy of free traders->truc...

Re: Jump Drive Power

Does the game play different for each choice? A bit. Kinda determines how much power a ship should be fit with so it functions. Jump Dimming may be a thing, but jump dimming for a whole week is a bit odd. So the clarification would help people designing their own ships in the future to decide what ...

Re: A Quick Word About Radioactivity

Its definitely a sidebar subject. "Yo, irradiated places probably are still radioactive. Half-lives are very long, generally." But as a note, the example of nuking a spaceship and then coming back isn't exactly perfect. For an abandoned nuclear warhead storage facility (metal gear...?), then its a p...

Re: Suggestion, Super-streamlined, and Lifting hulls.

Given how many Free-Traders there are running around, and the advantage that streamlining/lift surfaces would give to a small ship like that, it seems likely that there would indeed be a ton of ships running around with streamlining, because they are small enough to be able to land on planets withou...

Re: Rules should reflect that explosive power SQUARES!

Ok. So the amount of explosive must be squared to get the desired radius. Ok. That makes me a little less leery of this. Unless i'm wrong again. I always had figured that explosions in tunnels just expand further down the tunnel until it runs out of energy. A lot of action movies would have been a l...

Re: Rules should reflect that explosive power SQUARES!

Hmm. I can see the point. It still smells of unnecessary math in my head though... Hmm. So a missile with a blast radius of 5m exploding next to another would explode with a radius of 25m? Hmm. Maybe I've watched way too many Hollywood action flicks, but it feels wrong in my head. It should be noted...

Re: No Ship Design Process

If there's enough common space craft as is, and there is some way to retrofit new stuff onto your ship it would be enough for the "players handbook" The "GM's guide" in high guard and the CSC would be fine, with those books allowing for a expanded game setting. Maybe add a book with tips on how to c...

Because everyone has that explosive technician in their group, calling the GM out when he says the explosion was 20 meters, when it should be 40 meters... Seriously, its kinda a small point. Big boom equals big boom. Unless we want to be determining the blast radius for nuclear weapons, its not too ...

Re: Why have a Wheeled AFV at TL-12?

It is possible that, even though grav-tech at TL-12 can support large cities, it requires a amount of power that only a large city could possibly provide. The power needed to make vehicles fly may not be easily downsized at that level of tech to fit in a tank sized vehicle. The mass not only of the ...

Re: Terran Dawn Campaign Guide [Progress, Questions]

Is anyone else having trouble with Sturn's website? Just stumbled on this, and in wondering if there's any new developments. Found some PDF on the COTI forums, but I'm not sure they're up to date. The work on them is absolutely great, and I love the lower tech setting. Sometimes it feels TL11-15 is ...
