Re: Selling Starting Gear

You could find the age of an item just by extrapolating what career path he received it from, and which roll it came from. You served five terms, and your first three terms were as a marine. You received 2 rolls, one from your first term, and one from your third. You take equipment rolls. The first ...

Re: Traveller Starter Set - on Drivethru!

Book 1, 2, and 3? I thought you guys were getting away from that naming system? The description text on the store page was ambiguous. Are these books replacements for, additions to, reorganized and repackaged versions of, or less complicated versions of the Core Rule book and High Guard?

Re: Adding armor and/or stealth to your starship

The design process takes tonnage from the ship when you add things like armor. Rulewise, you'd just take whatever extra tonnage you needed to add armor after the fact from the cargo hold. The problem is, once the ship is built, for realism and consistency you can't very well go adding armor to the i...

Re: Robot Characters

If he's a self aware android with combat experience, he'd definitely be outside the law. Even if he looks human, he's not getting through any type of any type of scanning device that might turn up at a customs inspection or a highport. It'd be interesting to role play, assuming the other PCs know hi...

MgT1: Cr 2000 (or Cr 3000 for double occupancy)
MgT2: Cr 1000 (or Cr 3000 for double occupancy) + Cr 1000 per person
So they changed that from the beta to release? I wonder why?

Re: FIB vs Hardened

Sadly, this is Mongoose, so when you start adding books past the Core Rules you also start adding contradictions! I'd go as far as to say that the hardened bridge includes a FIB upgrade to the computer if you want to make sense of the contradiction. If it isn't a FIB system, the computer really woul...

Re: Selling old Traveller books - is it worth it?

If you really don't want them, I'd say sell them. There's a collector's market out there, I've seen it. I have a friend who literally has multiple copies of just about every RPG printed in English taking up an entire room of his house. How many copies of the Fiend Folio do you really need Brad?! :)

Re: What happened to Zero-G?

I've gone the way Jak has as well, I'm sticking with 1st ed. Granted, 0G is a passive skill, just like Vacc Suit and a few others. With 2nd ed. I thought Mongoose meant to combine the skills of vacc suit with 0G, but after some thought that's not that logical. 0G isn't always used in a vacc suit, an...

Re: State Room issue that's always bugged me

"Life Support" isn't just the air you breathe, although that seems to be the main component everyone focuses on. It includes all the food, water, and waste facilities too. I'd argue that the costs of food probably take up the lion's share of the cost related to monthly life support, followed by wate...

Re: Large amounts of cash on ships

They deliberately cap the greenback at a hundred bucks, to make money laundering difficult, and drug dealers store them in cereal boxes. Not sure about laundering, it was supposedly more to make it difficult to keep and carry large amounts of physical currency easily. According to the History Chann...

Re: Large amounts of cash on ships

Isn't this one of the main reasons that the courier network exists? You make your sales and pick up more cargo, then plug in your credstick at a banking kiosk at the downport and make your deposit, noting your next planned port of call. While you are getting your ship, cargo, and passengers straight...

That is his very basic concept, he and one of the other players came up with... very new to Traveller.. As in.....

Re: Rule of thumb for passengers as cargo

The cargo holds are air filled, and you've always been able to carry livestock as cargo without problem, That is a big assumption, especially considering the amount of life support overhead shipping awake live stock would need. The traditional assumption Livestock is shipped in Low. Also Note while...

Re: Why Sindal?

However, for simplicity and campaign balance, only one Traveller may start with a ship in their possession before the campaign begins. If two or more Travellers have gained ships, you should debate who actually gets a ship. The other players will receive an additional pension of Cr25000 every year ...

Re: HG 2e Double Hull & Hamster Cage Cost and a couple of other questions

I'll try to make it easy to understand, as it took me awhile to get some of the science behind it, but it's easy to get when it's in layman's terms. You may have figured a lot of it out as a kid actually. If you hold a bucket of water and spin around real fast, the bucket can hang out at a right ang...

Re: Rule of thumb for passengers as cargo

The cargo holds are air filled, and you've always been able to carry livestock as cargo without problem, so why not people? Even with the "multi environmental space", which can accommodate almost every environment for any animal imaginable there's no cost for life support, only for power. You just h...

Re: Why Sindal?

1. The main one is that Jump-1 vessels are largely useless in the sub-sector. Of the ships that can be got as a result of character creation only the scout or lab ship will be of any use. That bothers me too. MgT1 gave you 5 ship shares in the chosen ship for your career, or 2 for any other ship. I...

Re: Robot Characters

As a GM, my question would be "Why do you want to play a robot?" I'd be concerned with a possible munchkin thinking he's going to get superhuman abilities, but of course it depends on the player and group as well as your plans for the campaign. You'll probably need to decide how the laws will work r...

Re: Taking / Claiming ships

The Pirates of Drinax campaign could be played pretty much exactly what your players are describing, among many other possibilities. There have also been a few rules written regarding prize ships and salvage, for at least one version or another or Traveller. Regretfully, while I know I've read them,...

We are indeed compiling issues as they are found in the new edition, and PDFs will be updated.
That's good to hear! Any idea what kind of release schedule you'll be looking at for said PDF updates?
