Re: Is TAS dead?

I am still writing material for TAS, but have not finished anything lately.
Please be on the lookout for

Operation: Chokepoint

Re: Which to get 1st

Cordan involves a car chase and a gunfight with security guards.Political activities are at the baronial level and the players are pawns in a power move. Liberty port involves possible air to air combat, or boat combat, possible ground combat if you want to run things that way and some high level ne...

Re: Suggested prices and ways of disciplining

Oghma uses slave labour to maintain the tech base to support its warlord ways if I recall. The willingness of slaves to misjump if they were crew might be problematic. As was pointed out, once you get the computers and robots that can replace crew you should go robotic. Then all you have to worry ab...

At the end of the book the several different beanstalks that have been built all connect to the circumterra orbital.

Now THAT orbital would be able to mount a lot of bays and turrets.

100 ton ships or greater although that is not specified. Maybe a smaller craft could be noodling across rifts if the occupants do not mind close quarters. Every 200 tons of hull is a -1 DM

Re: Do jump nets make the Beowulf obsolete?

Two powers move ships along in space. Fold Space is able to move a ship without a Jump Drive, just an M-Drive is needed. The second power is Drive augmentation where a couple of points extends the range of a Jump by 1. It will be interesting to see if 2nd edition versions of those types of powers ma...

Re: Do jump nets make the Beowulf obsolete?

The hydrogen bubble was mentioned in earlier products, but now you get the question of psionic power (1st edition Mongoose Advanced Talent). I guess the Psionic energy could fill it, a "thought bubble" as it were. Collector technology uses exotic particles and not the tons and tons of hydrogen to cr...

Re: Do jump nets make the Beowulf obsolete?

This raises an interesting point about Jump engines, Jump bubbles, Jump Nets, and Docking Clamps. Suppose we have a ship that is 200 tons of ship and has Jump engines enough to take 400 tons Jump 2. (25 Tons) The ship could have 200 tons of external cargo mounts and have 200 tons strapped onto those...

Re: Do jump nets make the Beowulf obsolete?

I think the 1dt is for storing the net when not in use. The 100 Ton capacity is calculated into the Jump calculation, not 101. That is my reading of it anyway.

That is exactly right. I put together a thread about a tricked out far trader http://forum.mongoosepublishing.com/viewtopic.php?f=89&t=119289&p=904491&hilit=tricked+out#p904491 I also made it the payoff in my "Seed of Doubt" TAS module. The reward for the adventure is an upgraded ship and permanent ...

Re: Issue with the Zarelinung (Great Rift preview)

In all fairness I am writing up a scenario that is hydrogen based that can place FARP's anywhere you want. It is all empty hex based and Jump Net towing to move more tonnage on the forward trip. It would take some time to do, but unless a Navy spends a lot of time jumping into and out of empty hexes...

Re: Issue with the Zarelinung (Great Rift preview)

The biggest thing the ship will do is show how Collector based technology will rule the future. While it limits the movement to once a week of motionless recharging, it offers cheaper, more efficient movement of people and goods. For logisitical movement it will be paramount. You have a 1500 ton shi...

Collector Based Armstrong Ship

With the creation of the Interstellar vessel, the Zarelinung class ship, Mongoose has published a Collector based ship. The use of Collector technology can really push the capability of a ship. By removing the need for Jump fuel (at the expense of having to wait motionless for 7 days to recharge the...

Re: Redesign for Armstrong class exploration ship

The advance in capacitor might be copied out in the Borderlands in places like Tech-World, or Falcon if you want Drop Tank technology available in the Drinax area. That was my rationale for my Jump Station product. You can justify an advancement somehow if you want Drop Tank technology in the game. ...

Re: Low Berth vs Fast Drug

Maybe the fast drug neutralizes the acid and slows the gastric juice output as a first step in the torporing process? It is all handwavium tech to get to the 60 days of life support extension as the rules describe. it may make very little sense chemically or realistically, but it gets the job done. ...

Re: The Sindal Fuel Dump (some spoilers)

One JumpCarrier concept ship to Jump 10 000 tons of iceteroid into the empty hex. You lose 10 percent of it for the trip in, and a few more points to move the Rider back out. Then you have a system in the hex to convert the asteroid to refined fuel and sell to passersby.
