Re: Referee's Briefing

I love the idea of one on the TAS and similar organizations, and I also would love to see one on what life is like on high tech (TL 14-16) worlds, and one on archeology (both for Ancient sites and other).

Using Psionics As a Magic System (especially for fantasy Traveller variants)

Since there are now several solid fantasy reskins of Traveller (including both Mercator https://www.freelancetraveller.com/magazine/2010-04/mercator.pdf & Worlds Apart https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/105341/Worlds-Apart--Free-Version?cPath=225_9084 , I was thinking about how to incorporate some...

Alternate Lab Ships?

We have two types of 200 ton traders (Free & Far), standard and Serpent Class Scouts, and I've seen a few variant Yacht designs, but I have yet to see variant Lab Ships other than the Aslan Hkiyrerao research vessel. Are there any other 3I Lab Ship variations published or otherwise available anywhere?

Re: Any good alternative design rules for ships out there?

MIndjammer Traveller https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/202698/Mindjammer--Traveller-Edition has ship design rules that are notably different from standard Traveller, but also have a number of useful similarities and uses the same High Guard rules as the basis (but with significant alterations). ...

Re: Behind the Claw

There is a HUGE amount of new stuff :) Absolutely every word of the original has been checked, re-checked and, if necessary, revised. Deneb has been pretty much completely re-written, and there is a bulk hauler's worth of new material in the book. I mean, a lot. Just the new playable alien races al...

Re: Ship's Locker: Out of the Closet

Here's a new type of non-lethal weapon that I could see being updated for Traveller https://www.chicagotribune.com/suburbs/aurora-beacon-news/news/ct-abn-apd-use-bola-wrap-st-1214-story,amp.html?fbclid=IwAR2--nbKxyTLV9CoSILogxgOUUZp5gSIYh4zfLL_JDGVwuavzmpm3K4gnF8 At TL12, I can see longer range, and...

Re: What tools exist at TL 15 to perform this contemporary hostage rescue mission?

Meson box bombardment around everywhere the hostages are located, and then the Marine Special Forces/Hostage Rescue teams have to be able to move in before the hostages are harmed. Between the radiation and the large explosion, unless the base is huge, that sounds like a great way to kill everyone ...

Re: What tools exist at TL 15 to perform this contemporary hostage rescue mission?

A 5 cm wide hole isn't a problem as much as being able to bore extremely long distances. Remember you can't set up close to the area of the base without encountering security measures and even then the base is purposely deep to secure it from most outside influences. I'm sure the power needed to bo...

"I don't see any portable densiometers listed and that might be because it's too small for such a task. Page 111 of the corebook, with stats 2 pages earlier (TL14, 5 kg). As for drilling through rock, the big questions are how quiet TL15 plasma drills are compared to modern drilling tech - presumab...

Re: What tools exist at TL 15 to perform this contemporary hostage rescue mission?

I really like the Grinder vehicle, so let's start there. With a densitometer scan, you know where the base is and what likely entrance points are. You also know how close you can get the grinder before you trigger sensors. If you can get within a few dozen meters (which seems reasonable), then you h...

I note the release schedule has brought the PDF forward to December. Hope that is true. Would be a nice Christmas present. :)
That's awesome, I eagerly await it.

Re: So, what's with the supplements?

A new Psion is about 60% written already, but is a longer term project. Ready when it is done kind of thing. Yay, do you think this will be out in 2019 or later? The points you all make on aliens are more than valid, and they could certainly use proper representation in the game. However, being who...

Re: So, what's with the supplements?

I will look into the PDF prices, but it may be a while before we can do anything there. However, while we are on the subject of 1e books... If we could bring back any 1e book in 2e format right now, which would you like to see? I'd love to see a new and better Psionics book, the 1e Book 4: Psion ha...

Re: Tell me what you want.

Other than aliens, which will be in another book, what I'd most like to see are: New and variant psionics rules. A couple of new adventure class ships - specifically high tech (TL 13-15) adventure class ships, since mostly such starships are TL 11-12, and I'd like to see what notably higher TL versi...

Another point about sophont books is that earlier editions have covered the topic pretty well, so that there's less urgency to do a Mongoose edition than there would be for something new.
Sure, for Vargr & Aslan and a few minor races, but I eagerly await MongTrav info on Hivers and Droyne.

Re: The Traveller Companion - It Exists!

This looks completely awesome, but I also thought that rules for more aliens, or at least for the other major races, would show up in this book. Is there going to be a specific aliens book instead?

Re: Timeships

Given the issue of most oxygen being absorbed into the ocean and oxidizing iron containing compounds for quite a long time, 20,000 years seems far too short a time for terraforming a non-oxygen bearing world into a remotely habitable one. OTOH, at 600 years per jump, an AI controlling the ship and l...

Re: Timeships

The recent multi-year (non-Traveller) campaign I was in involved a whole lot of time travel. So, I have a couple of points that might be helpful. Can jumps be in increments greater than 33.33 years? Is a 50 year jump possible? If so, they can reach absolutely any time, including yesterday. Also, if ...

Re: Non-lethal weapons

Here my outline for what we have with non-lethal weapons and also some I’d like to see: Current TL: Tasers, stun guns & batons (essentially taser melee weapons), tranq darts (which are risky, since dosage problems can result in serious medical problems or death), various types of gas attacks, includ...
