Interesting... and not surprising really... that a discussion of a Traveller-related project immediately became a debate over minutae of the supporting software. I recall someone asking some questions on TML about a Traveller movie. It immediately turned into a debate about 'who would play Norris? L...

There are various possibilities regarding other RPG endavours. I'm not really sure if any of that will happen though. What I do know is that I really don't want to touch Traveller any more. I *have* in the past taken on projects I didn't want (I write for a living; catch me when work is slack and of...

The data was compiled from canon sources which were provided to me and used verbatim. I no longer have any interest in trying to fix dodgy UWPs and the like;not after the last time. Reft is also my last Traveller book. There are some Avenger books still in the pipeline that will appear after it, but...

"Subsectors of Reft Sector" would contain a lot of 'nothing here' entries.

And since some of those that do have stuff in them are administered from elsewhere, it made sense to do a powers section rather than a subsector overview.

I gave up playing that game with that player, and soon after all games with that player.

I've played with (and stopped playing with) players who insist that the setting must be how they perceive it, and who cannot conceive of a version that's different. Giving rise tro conversations like: Player: "The Lunar Army don't look like that. They look like Romans" Me: "Nope, though some regimen...

To a great extent, this was part of what we were considering. Minor changes that fixed a number of 'but that's nonsensical/physically impossible' issues. Sadly, the politics of the Traveller community being what it is, we were completely forbidden to do any such thing by Marc Miller.... ...who then ...

There are a lot of impossibilities, such as tiny worlds with dense atmosphere. Also, things like worlds with E class ports (no fuel) on desert worlds (no fuel) in a system with no gas giants ( no fuel) on a major trade lane. We wanted to note these and some other issues, such as where two or more pi...

Tables can lead to some odd effects in designing, such as everything being done to neat values. Ie, all 1000 ton ships, never any 972 ton ships, because using tables the rounding makes neat values more efficient. Not necessarily bad, but it makes for a game universe with very samey vessels at times ...

The're a fundamental difference now. Previously I had to watch what I said because I didn't want to rock the boat for Mongoose, so I had to retain a professional facade. Now, I'm just some guy that played the game for a few years. The way I see it, I'm free to say what I think at last. I did intend ...

As a result of the clusterfuck that ensued from Hunter Gordon's interference in the Spinward marches project (see elsewhere for details; I'm not going into that again) we used the raw data straight from Supplement 3. It would have been nice to fix some impossibilities, use updated world-gen and so f...

A properly written formula should be precise and not open to interpretation at all - any fault there lies not in mathematics (which is an absolute) but in lousy presentation of the formula and surrounding concepts.

Which is another way of saying that maths works fine until people get involved...

In theory, Marc's approach could be a good one. Build all the rules and make them work in an itegrated fashion, then cull out a game from all that detail. It's almost the exact opposite of what CT did - CT started simple and had all manner of stuff bolted on in an ad-hoc and often contradictory mann...

Thanks for that.

I *am* aware that there's a lot of positive fans out there, and I'd like to go on creating stuff for them. However, it's become impossible due to a number of factors. That's really all there is.

On that we do agree. Without getting crazy-egotisitcal, I brought a lot to the Traveller brand. Not least was a new approach to sourcebooks - instead of 'here's a leaf, a twig and a branch, build yourself a forest' I went with a top-down approach and started with generalities rather than library dat...

One thing does makes sense about the opening post. It would be entirely in character for Marc to make an announcement about something like this through QLI and COTI, despite the fact that favouritism towards one licensee has caused untold problems for him and the Traveller brand in the past.
